Distorted power measurement under nonsinusoidal and noisy conditions is considered. A new window function method which is efficiently combines the advantage of an adaptive window, totally eliminating leakage errors, with that of a conventional window, a good attenuation performance for noise signals, is proposed to reduce the measurement errors of distorted power under nonsinusoidal and noisy conditions. The effectiveness of the new method has been verified by simulation results.

We adopt optimal preview control methodology to design a terrain following controller for cruise missile. In this methodology, both tracking errors and control increments are considered in a quadratic penalty function. An augmented error system that involves future command inputs is built. Thus, the preview control problem can be formulated as an optimal regulator problem. Integrating the general optimal servo system with preview feed-forward compensations that respectively feed forward future command inputs and future disturbances, produces an optimal preview servo system. In the terrain following system, the flight altitude of cruise missile is the command input and its future information can be known a priori. The wind is viewed as the disturbance in the system and is not previewable. Hence, we designed a terrain following controller with a basic state feedback, and a feed-forward compensation for future altitude information while regarding the wind as a constant signal. Simulation results show that the performance of the terrain following system with such an optimal preview controller is improved dramatically.

The paper presents a new method for generating the desired gaits in biped robot based on the reactive force between the feet and ground. The relation between the reactive force and joint motion is derived using the D'Almbert principle. In view of stale walking, the zero moment point (ZMP) stability criterion must be included in the desired gait generation. The proposed method utilizes aforesaid relation and stability principle to generate the desired joint trajectories. Meanwhile, desired motion trajectories and desired ZMP trajectories are also considered. The desired trajectory of the ZMP is determined by a fuzzy logic based on the human locomotion. The proposed method can reduce the motion range of the trunk, and can be applied to both the single foot supporting phase and double feet supporting phase by changing the restraining condition to the swinging leg.

A new model predictive control scheme is proposed, which combines the receding horizon control and sliding mode variable structure control. By predicting the system states, the pre-designed switching function is predicted, then the control law can be found by solving the constrained open-loop optimal control problem based on the given cost function. The current control is implemented, and at the next sampling time the optimizing procedure is repeated. The proposed scheme has advantage of receding horizon control and sliding mode variable structure control, can deal with constraints online, and has strong robustness on the sliding surface. Furthermore, by constraining terminal sliding mode to be zero, the stability of closed-loop systems is guaranteed. Another scheme, which relaxes equality constraints to inequality constraints, is suggested for less calculation. In addition, the proposed method can be extended to nonlinear systems, and a nonlinear sliding mode predictive control scheme is acquired.

In this paper, a complexity scalable audio coding algorithm based on wavelet packet decomposition is proposed. The incomplete wavelet packet decomposition with the property of complexity scalability to the signals is described in this paper. The zerotree coding of the coefficients is implemented which uses the characteristics of human ears and the self-similarity among different subbands wavelet coefficients. This algorithm cannot only be used to achieve transparent quality reconstruction audio at low bit rate, but also enable to support complexity scalable coding and multirate scalable coding. Audio encoding and decoding can be realized in real-time utilizing this algorithm on computers with different levels of computational power. The experimental results indicate that this algorithm is of practical value to the real-time multimedia applications.

It is well known that differences between training and testing environments seriously affect speech recognition accuracy. Several environment adaptation techniques have been proposed for eliminating environmental difference, and they are effective when the adaptation data in the testing environment is available beforehand. However, testing environments are not always known beforehand. Therefore, a new framework, which uses testing utterances themselves for adaptation, is effective to cope with such variation. In this paper, a method of testing environment adaptation is proposed, which gradually learns the features of testing environment as the testing procedure, and does not need to get some testing samples beforehand.
