This paper deals with eccentricity fault detection in a induction motor via artificial neural networks. Discriminative features are extracted from magnitude-frequency plot of line current spectra at characteristic frequencies. Based on this data, training and test sets for used artificial neural networks are made. Feedforward and radial basis function neural networks are used for tasks of rotor condition classification. Well trained artificial neural networks are capable to successfully classify rotor condition at medium and full shaft load for choosen features. Simple structure and implementation made them suitably for practical usage.

Paper deals with application of online rotor broken bar fault detection via artificial neural networks. Fault can be detected by monitoring abnormalities of the spectrum amplitudes at certain frequencies in the motor current spectrum. These discriminative features are used for training of feed-forward backpropagation artificial neural network. Trained network is capable to successfully classify induction motor rotor condition. Results are presented in tables and figures.

Parkinson's disease is a common disease of central nervous system among the elderly, and its complex symptoms bring some difficulties for the clinical diagnosis. In this study, a new method based on free spiral drawing was proposed to for quantitative evaluation of hand movement of patients with Parkinson's disease. According to the characteristics of hand movement in free spiral drawing, a set of parameters were defined and calculated. Experimental results showed that this method of evaluation was consistent with the clinical diagnosis. The proposed method based on free spiral drawing is effective in clinical diagnosis, and it provides a basis for quantitative evaluating the effectiveness of surgery and treatment.

In this paper, an effective technique for leak diagnosis and localization which couples the local entropy difference method (LEDM) to the fast marching method (FMM) is proposed. A computer-based system is described to combine a specific pneumatic circuit with an on-line infrared camera which is used to test the air-tightness of a test vessel. The test object is charged with cryogenic compressed air and its temperature field is acquired by infrared thermography in this system. Then, both the leakage point and its edge can be identified by means of the designed LED-FM method. An experiment is conducted that confirms that the leak diagnosis and localization method presented in this paper is effective in diagnosing leakage points and in extracting accurate leakage edges, in spite of the presence of surface defects.

In wireless sensor networks, virtual backbone has been proposed as the routing infrastructure to alleviate the broadcasting storm problem and perform some other tasks such as area monitoring. Previous work in this area has mainly focused on how to construct a small virtual backbone for high efficiency, which is modeled as the minimum Connected Dominating Set (MCDS) problem. However, the nodes in the CDS need to carry other nodes' traffic and they are subject to failure. Therefore, it is desirable to construct a fault tolerant CDS. In this paper, we first propose a distributed algorithm to construct a connected dominating set (DACDS). Based on DACDS, we further develop a fault tolerant algorithm (kCDS). We also show our algorithm have better performance ratios and low message complexity.
