In transformer-less fuel-cell energy conversion systems the voltage-gain is required to be as high as possible. Although component parasitic elements limit the practically realizable voltage-gain of any converter topology, this becomes a critical issue in the case of the basic step-up converter. In this paper, a comparative evaluation of two high-voltage-gain interleaved step-up derived converter topologies suitable for fuel-cell applications is documented. Both converter topologies offer lower input-current/output-voltage ripple and lower voltage/current ratings of the various circuit elements when compared to the basic step-up topology. Analysis and simulation results are provided and experimental results taken from low power laboratory prototypes are presented.

Bioinformatics is an emerging science and technology which has lots of research potential in the future. It involves multi interdisciplinary approaches such as mathematics, physics, computer science and engineering, biology, and behavioral science. Computers are used to gather, store, analyze as well as integration of patterns and biological data information which can then be applied to discover new useful diagnosis or information. In this study, the focus will be directed to the classification or clustering techniques which can be applied in the bioinformatics fields based on the Sugeno type neuro fuzzy model or ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference system). It is very important to identify new integration of classification or clustering algorithm especially in neuro fuzzy domain as compared to conventional or traditional method. This paper explores the suitability and performance of recurrent classification technique, Fuzzy C Means (FCM) act as classifier in neuro fuzzy system compared to subclustering method. A package of software based on neuro fuzzy model (ANFIS) has been developed using MATLAB software and optimization were done with the help from WEKA. A set diabetes data based on real diagnosis of patient will be used. © 2007 IEEE.

This paper presents a number of methods leading to increased torque control quality with a simple controller structure for synchronous motors based on phase current control. Mainly induced voltage compensation and controller parameters adaptation, according to requested current values derivative and instantaneous induced voltages values, is used. Also, practical results are shown. At the end, controller structures for magnetic flux weakening mode are proposed. ©2007 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel approach to solve the constrained unit commitment problem using the Selective Self-Adaptive Ant Colony Optimization (SSACO) for improving search performance by automatically adapting ant populations and their transition probability parameters, which cooperates with the Candidate Path Management Module (CPMM) and the Effective Repairing Heuristic Module (ERHM) in reducing search space and recovering a feasible optimality region so that a high quality solution can be acquired in a very early iterative. A new concept of the Relativity Pheromone Updating (RPU) is also introduced to provide a reasonable evaluation of the pheromone trail intensity among the agents. The proposed SSACO method not only enhances the convergence of search process, but also provides a suitable number of the population sharing which conducts a good guidance for trading-off between the importance of the visibility and the pheromone trail intensity. The proposed method has been performed on a test system up to 100 generating units with a scheduling time horizon of 24 hours. The numerical results show the most economical saving in the total operating cost when compared to the previous literature results. Moreover, the proposed SSACO topology can remarkably speed up the computational time of ant colony optimization, which is favorable for a large-scale UC problem implementation.

This article presents an optical set-up for liquid meniscus planarity measurement at the small capillary tip, which is based on geometric optics principle instead of much more expensive phase shift interference methods. The theoretical study of the meniscus planarity measurement with different geometrical optical set-up is presented. The influence of the set-up alignment errors is also presented. On theses bases has been designed and developed an optical set-up for the measurement of meniscus planarity at the 0,3 mm diameter capillary tip. Necessary radius resolution for the surface tension of liquid measurement was determined and verified the set-up fulfills this condition.

This article gives a capsule view of research on rough set theory and applications ongoing at universities and laboratories in China. Included in this capsule view of rough set research is a brief description of the following things: Chinese research groups on rough set with their URLs for web pages, names of principal researchers (supervisors), numbers of graduate students, and topics being investigated. Statistical summaries showing the growth in the research on rough set theory and application in China are included. In addition, an introduction summarizing the research interests of Chinese researchers is included in this article. In this paper, we present a pineapple skin model and a method to fit the model. Our main application of the model is for automatic maturity grading of pineapples in canned pineapple industry. The model consists of two subparts: Phyllotaxis and pineapple scale models. The Phyllotaxis model represents the spiral arrangement of pineapple-scales, which is a growing pattern of the fruit. It includes a string of scale-model cells. The scale model includes boundary, internal area and petal part of scale. Modified snake algorithm is used to construct the structure model while Active Shape Model (ASM) is applied to each scale. The model can accurately fit to pineapple skins in our experiment and classification features of the fruit can be extracted.
