This paper presents a number of methods leading to increased torque control quality with a simple controller structure for synchronous motors based on phase current control. Mainly induced voltage compensation and controller parameters adaptation, according to requested current values derivative and instantaneous induced voltages values, is used. Also, practical results are shown. At the end, controller structures for magnetic flux weakening mode are proposed.

Bioinformatics is an emerging science and technology which has lots of research potential in the future. It involves multi-interdisciplinary approaches such as mathematics, physics, computer science and engineering, biology, and behavioral science. Computers are used to gather, store, analyze as well as integration of patterns and biological data information which can then be applied to discover new useful diagnosis or information. In this study, the focus was directed to the classification or clustering techniques which can be applied in the bioinformatics fields based on the Sugeno type neuro fuzzy model or ANFIS (adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system). It is very important to identify new integration of classification or clustering algorithm especially in neuro fuzzy domain as compared to conventional or traditional method. This paper explores the suitability and performance of recurrent classification technique, fuzzy c means (FCM) act as classifier in neuro fuzzy system compared to subclustering method. A package of software based on neuro fuzzy model (ANFIS) has been developed using MATLAB software and optimization were done with the help from WEKA. A set diabetes data based on real diagnosis of patient was used

In this paper are presented some new concepts of control applied in Power systems. Are given the architectures and methodologies based on the agents theory. The complexity of Power systems is included into a new paradigm – Complex Adaptive systems – and the modelling and control of Power systems based on intelligent agents are considered. Some concepts on hierarchical and heterarchical architectures which include different intelligent techniques are also presented in this paper.

Fingerprint compression using contourlet transform and self organizing feature map

This paper presents a new coding technique for fingerprint compression, which is based on contourlet transform and Self-Organizing Feature Map (SOFM) vector quantization. One of the main difficulties in developing compression algorithms for fingerprints resides in the need for preserving the minutiae, which are subsequently used in identification. Wavelets have shown their ability in representing natural images that contain smooth areas separated with edges. However, wavelets cannot efficiently represent the ridge and furrow patterns, which are predominant in fingerprints. This issue is addressed by directional transforms, known as contourlets, which have the property of preserving edges. SOFM based vector quantizer quantizes the coefficients obtained by contourlet transform. The results obtained are tabulated and compared with those of the wavelet based ones. © 2007 JD.

This paper presents the analytical and experimental consideration of the common-mode noise generation in a single-switch (buck) converter comparison to a four-switch (full-bridge) converter by the viewpoint of circuit imbalance. The mechanism of the common-mode current (noise) generation in the buck converter and full-bridge converter can be explained by equivalent circuit of unbalanced model. Common-mode noise generation due to the effect of circuit imbalance of the buck and full-bridge converter is clarified by the experimental results.

Machine vision for selective weeding or selective herbicide spraying relies substantially on the ability of the system to analyze weed images and process the extracted knowledge for decision making prior to implementing the identified control action. To control weed, different weed type would require different herbicide formulation. Consequently the weed must be identified and classified accordingly. In this work, weed images were classified as either broad or narrow weed type. A fundamental problem in weed image recognition using planar curve analysis is to detect curve. It is difficult to successfully extract curve from the image of weed edges since the appropriate scale to use for extraction is not known a priori. As such, this paper considers a curve detection method based on the quadratic polynomial technique which include the use of the region-of- interests (ROI) technique. The ROI technique creates image subsets by selecting regions of the displayed image. The ROIs are typically used to extract statistics for image operations such as classification. As such, the objective of this paper is to present a novel application of curve detection feature extraction technique in weed classification.

The age is one of important information in our living. If the age estimation that uses face image by computer becomes possible, it is thought that the age estimation assumes an important role in various scenes. In this paper, we propose an age estimation every age by using the supervised SOM. Furthermore, the important features for the age estimation are selected by the GA.

This paper describes the development of nonlinear autoregressive moving average with exogenous input (NARMAX) models in diagnosing dengue infection. The developed system bases its prediction solely on the bioelectrical impedance parameters and physiological data. Three different NARMAX model order selection criteria namely FPE, AIC and Lipschitz have been evaluated and analyzed. This model is divided two approaches which are unregularized approach and regularized approach. The results show that using Lipschitz number with regularized approach yield better accuracy by 88.40% to diagnose the dengue infections disease. Furthermore, this analysis show that the NARMAX model yield better accuracy as compared to autoregressive moving average with exogenous input (ARMAX) model in diagnosis intelligent system based on the input variables namely gender, weight, vomiting, reactance and the day of the fever as recommended by the outcomes of statistical tests with 76.70% accuracy.

Robots are complex systems that require multidisciplinary approach to development. Hence, both research and production of a robotic system require a tool that would provide means for coordination between teams with different areas of expertise as well as the ability to integrate, simulate and debug the system in a comprehensive way. Also, with the growing popularity of service robotics, research and modeling of human-machine interaction gains the attention. From a simulation tool, it is expected to support the means for describing this interaction. For that purpose we are investigating the ML Designer TM , not just as a possible simulation tool, but also as a modeling and design paradigm. For verification purposes we will compare it against MATLAB Simulink TM . A pneumatic system will be modeled with both tools and a comparison will be performed.

General switching converter such as the simple high-side switching circuit inherently has unbalanced characteristics of impedance of transmission path, voltage at dc source and load terminals with respect to the frame ground. These unbalanced characteristic effects are the cause of unbalanced voltages at both dc source and load terminals. These unbalanced voltages will produce common-mode noise flowing through frame ground to the LISN during the active switch turn-off and on. This paper presents the analytical and experimental consideration of common-mode noise generation due to the unbalanced effect. The mechanism of common-mode noise generation due to unbalanced effect can be explained by equivalent circuit in both turn-off and turn-on time of the active switch. For common-mode noise reduction, the method for balancing the switching converter is also presented. Common-mode noise generated due to the effect of circuit imbalance is clarified by the experimental results. The balanced switching converter can greatly reduce the common-mode noise is also confirmed by the experimental results.
