The paper presents the ongoing project conducted by an interdisciplinary team at the Bieliński Palace in Otwock Wielki, near Warsaw (Poland). The main aim of the project is to document the architecture and architectural elements with the use of digital methods such as photogrammetry and 3D scanning, as well as investigating the construction phases of the palace, through the analysis of the digital data collected. The Bieliński Palace is an example of élite architecture of the Baroque period in Poland. Thought the architect responsible for the original plans remains unknown, the plan, the proportions, as well as architectural details find good parallels in the finest buildings of the capital of that time, and show clear inspirations from the western examples of the architecture of the period. Since the archival data is very scarce, the only way to learn about the history and construction phases of the palace is through a detailed analysis of the building’s structure. To this aim we perform a series of analyses of the digital data, such as wall flatness analysis and laser beam refraction intensity. We believe that the careful analysis of the data collected for the purpose of documentation can reveal valuable information that will contribute to our understanding of the building’s history. © 2018, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper proposed a similarity model of MWA water system using the dimensional analysis based on the theory of Buckingham Pi for error estimation of transit-time ultrasonic flow meter with clamp-on at different installation conditions. There were three main parameters groups, i.e., pipe characteristic, meter installation, and fluid characteristic and properties and could be arranged in five Pi terms, i.e. E×(Le/D), µ/ρvD, Le/D, Us/D and Us/D. The results showed that the relative errors of measurement increased with the decreasing of upstream and downstream of meter at the same velocity and there was a possibility to use the model to determine the correction factor to compensate the velocity measurement of ultrasonic flow meter as the installation could not comply with the requirement. However, the further experiments should be performed for validation of the model predictive equation i.e., E 0.3607 E . p m.

We present a new algorithm for the computation of polyhedral positive invariant sets. A set given by its half-spaces is used to yield an optimized positive invariant set w.r.t. a given autonomous system. The algorithm requires the solution of a single semi-definite program followed by a linear program. Extensions to the plant uncertain case, and to a symmetric set case are presented. Two numerical examples demonstrate the algorithm usage and capabilities.

Regularised Frequency Response Function (FRF) estimation based on Gaussian process regression formulated directly in the frequency-domain has been introduced recently The underlying approach largely depends on the utilised kernel function, which encodes the relevant prior knowledge on the system under consideration. In this paper, we show how to construct a rich class of kernel functions, directly in the frequency-domain, based on Orthonormal Basis Functions (OBFs), which is capable of representing a wide range of dynamical properties, e.g., stability, resonance frequencies, damping, etc, in terms of the poles of the employed basis functions that are treated as hyperparameters to efficiently shape the model class, i.e., the prior in the corresponding Bayesian setting. This class of kernel functions also implicitly guarantees the stability of the estimated FRF. The generating poles of the OBFs are tuned along with other hyperparameters, e.g., noise variance, by maximising the marginal likelihood. Multiple case studies are considered to show the potential of the considered kernels. © 2017

Shifting Method for Relay Feedback Identification

This paper introduces a method extending possibilities of the relay feedback identification of dynamic systems describable by their transfer function. The proposed “shifting” method enables to estimate three points on a plant frequency response from a single relay feedback test without using the FFT algorithm. The approach enables to estimate up to five parameters of the transfer function from sustained oscillations obtained by one relay test. For this purpose the method uses a biased relay. The introduced technique offers a tool for a large class of common control problems. The applicability of the proposed frequency-response identification method is demonstrated by estimating five parameters of the anisochronic model and by estimating three points on the frequency response of the physical model called “Air Aggregate”. All experiments were performed in Matlab/Simulink programming environment. © 2016

An understanding of marine ecosystems and their biodiversity is relevant to sustainable use of the goods and services they offer. Since marine areas host complex ecosystems, it is important to develop spatially widespread monitoring networks capable of providing large amounts of multiparametric information, encompassing both biotic and abiotic variables, and describing the ecological dynamics of the observed species. In this context, imaging devices are valuable tools that complement other biological and oceanographic monitoring devices. Nevertheless, large amounts of images or movies cannot all be manually processed, and autonomous routines for recognizing the relevant content, classification, and tagging are urgently needed. In this work, we propose a pipeline for the analysis of visual data that integrates video/image annotation tools for defining, training, and validation of datasets with video/image enhancement and machine and deep learning approaches. Such a pipeline is required to achieve good performance in the recognition and classification tasks of mobile and sessile megafauna, in order to obtain integrated information on spatial distribution and temporal dynamics. A prototype implementation of the analysis pipeline is provided in the context of deep-sea videos taken by one of the fixed cameras at the LoVe Ocean Observatory network of Lofoten Islands (Norway) at 260 m depth, in the Barents Sea, which has shown good classification results on an independent test dataset with an accuracy value of 76.18% and an area under the curve (AUC) value of 87.59%.

This paper shows one possible way of using MATLAB® system Identification Toolbox when identifying parameters for human (a pilot) behaviour model. Based on these parameters and their changes in time, it is possible to analyse the pilot's individual dynamic properties representing their abilities, capabilities and skills. Input data for this identification tool and their consequent analysis are time profiles of real pilot responses acquired during tests on various flight simulators. © 2017 IEEE.

The usage of remotely accessible sources increases in education. On one hand, there are passive sources as electronic libraries, scanned books and webservers allowing cooperative production of education materials. On the other hand, there are virtual laboratories allowing participating of users on the conducted experiments. The server side and client side parts of virtual laboratories can be based on various technologies; the aim of this paper is to give a kind of comparison of several of them. The paper also introduces an approach to the laboratory models with extended use that can be used in both ways, as remotely accessed models allowing only a limited control and as locally accessed models allowing full control. Because of the limited length of the paper, the aim is not to provide a complete survey through all possible technologies usable to the virtual laboratories development, but to provide the practical experience with an implementation of some of them. © 2016

This paper presents an RF rectifier circuit for electromagnetic energy harvesting system. The double voltage rectifier together with the super capacitor are employed to harvest the electromagnetic energy. The proposed circuit is designed to operate at 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi frequency band. The Schottky diode SMS7630-061 is used to implement the proposed rectifier circuit. The super capacitor 5 V with capacity of 1 F is employed to collect the electromagnetic energy. It is found that the output voltage is greater than 2.8V at 5.5-5.8 GHz. © 2017 IEEE.
