Implementation of mobile sensor communication system on multicell networks

A monitoring technology for large area with low-cost and high efficiency is highly demanded. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is the solution for a monitoring technology. However, not all monitoring must be continuous, there are some monitoring that can be carried out periodically. Therefore, it is possible to invent a mobile sensor communication system on multicell networks. This research aims to implement a WSN system by collecting data from mobile sensors on multicell networks. The focus of research is on the design of mobile sensor communication with low-cost device as transceivers, namely NodeMCU. The design is implemented using 4 NodeMCU units, 3 of them are functioned as access points, while 1 unit is employed as a client connected to the sensor. The experimentation was conducted by varying transmission distances of sensors with and without barriers. Moreover, handover and blankspot areas are also included accordingly. The result of experimentation shows that the usage of low-cost devices has still a possibility to build monitoring mechanism on multicell networks even though the transmission power was significantly influenced by the availability of barriers.

We employ recent control design algorithms for delay systems to address the mixed sensitivity design of a dynamic controller for multiple degree of freedom systems interconnected with an inverse signal shaper. A delay based inverse shaper is included within a feedback loop in order to eliminate oscillatory modes due to an attached flexible substructure, which has been shown to be advantageous to inducing directly the filtering property by an appropriate controller design. Due to the presence of the inverse shaper, the closed loop dynamics become infinite dimensional. Furthermore we design fixed-order controllers, aiming at an easy implementation. As a consequence of these two features standard techniques from H-infinity control can no longer be used. We present a two-stage method, which firstly makes the closed-loop system asymptotically stable and, secondly, computes a low-order controller that minimizes the H-infinity norm of the weighted closed-loop transfer functions. The approach is grounded in recent methods for fixed-order H-infinity control of delay systems, and the delay-differential algebraic equations (DDAE) modelling and control framework. © 2017

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted gaps in health surveillance systems, disease prevention, and treatment globally. Among the many factors that might have led to these gaps is the issue of the financing of national health systems, especially in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), as well as a robust global system for pandemic preparedness. We aimed to provide a comparative assessment of global health spending at the onset of the pandemic;characterise the amount of development assistance for pandemic preparedness and response disbursed in the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic;and examine expectations for future health spending and put into context the expected need for investment in pandemic preparedness. Methods: In this analysis of global health spending between 1990 and 2021, and prediction from 2021 to 2026, we estimated four sources of health spending: development assistance for health (DAH), government spending, out-of-pocket spending, and prepaid private spending across 204 countries and territories. We used the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)'s Creditor Reporting system (CRS) and the WHO Global Health Expenditure Database (GHED) to estimate spending. We estimated development assistance for general health, COVID-19 response, and pandemic preparedness and response using a keyword search. Health spending estimates were combined with estimates of resources needed for pandemic prevention and preparedness to analyse future health spending patterns, relative to need. Findings: In 2019, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, US$9·2 trillion (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 9·1–9·3) was spent on health worldwide. We found great disparities in the amount of resources devoted to health, with high-income countries spending $7·3 trillion (95% UI 7·2–7·4) in 2019;293·7 times the $24·8 billion (95% UI 24·3–25·3) spent by low-income countries in 2019. Lately, Peer to Peer (P2P) over Mobile Ad hoc Network have become a hot topics. Thus, the main motivation of this paper is to review various techniques that have been used in previously reported research of Peer to Peer (P2P) over Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). From the said document, it is identified that all previously techniques used in P2P over MANET have one similarity; namely maintaining the use of TCP/IP stack as network solution, in which the source for high energy resources for their proposed solution. Hence, this paper proposed a new solution beyond the TCP/IP stack paradigms in order to improve energy efficiency in P2P over MANET, whereby through the use of Content Centric Networking (CCN). In detail, this paper has included conceptual framework of our suggested solution. It is hoped that this paper achieves its two objectives: (i) to present a literature review on the topic of P2P over MANET, and (ii) to provide conceptual framework of our suggested solution.

At present, digital documentation recorded in the form of raster or vector files is the obligatory way of inventorying historical objects. Today, photogrammetry is becoming more and more popular and is becoming the standard of documentation in many projects involving the recording of all possible spatial data on landscape, architecture, or even single objects. Low-cost sensors allow for the creation of reliable and accurate three-dimensional models of investigated objects. This paper presents the results of a comparison between the outcomes obtained when using three sources of image: Low-cost Xiaomi cameras, a full-frame camera (Canon 5D Mark II) and middle-frame camera (Hasselblad-Hd4). In order to check how the results obtained from the two sensors differ the following parameters were analysed: The accuracy of the orientation of the ground level photos on the control and check points, the distribution of appointed distortion in the self-calibration process, the flatness of the walls, the discrepancies between point clouds from the low-cost cameras and references data. The results presented below are a result of co-operation of researchers from three institutions: The systems Research Institute PAS, The department of Geodesy and Cartography at the Warsaw University of Technology and the National Museum in Warsaw. © 2017 Authors.

Real-time capabilities of Linux RTAI

This article deals with the Linux real-time extension RTAI. This extension provides soft real-time capabilities in the user space and hard real-time capabilities in the kernel space. In this work, some key parameters of the RTOS are measured such as switching context time, periodic thread jitter, interrupt latency response, execution time of synchronization primitives and heap allocation time. This measurements create a test bench of real-time system capabilities which should help the developer to create truly real-time application on the specific hardware based on measured real-time capabilities. RTAI functions can be called from the user space using LXRT and also from the kernel space. These two spaces are compared from the point of view of the developer and real-time capabilities. All measurements have been done on the LinuxCNC 2.7 based on Debian 3.4 distribution running on AMD Athlon XP 3000+ uniprocessor. To accomplish these measurements, new benchmark application has been developed. © 2016

Model Predictive control for Individual Room control

This paper deals with model predictive control (MPC) for individual room control (IRC). Two models of a selected room were assembled, each with different complexity. The first of them is used as an exact replacement of the real room for a controller verification, the second one is used for a state observer and MPC controller design. Both the models were created using only a building documentation, what can be suitable especially for large buildings with hundreds of rooms. It was shown that MPC controller can be advantageously used for room temperature control. In the next work weather forecast and occupancy estimation could be incorporated into MPC controller design, what can bring energy savings. © 2016

Kinematic Models for Odometry of a Six-Wheeled Mobile Robot

Paper describes kinematic models of a mobile robot with a six-wheeled chassis. These models can be used for estimation of its position and orientation using an odometry method. Basic model, advanced model, and model based on polynomial replacements are introduced. Steps of model identification are discussed. Described models are applied on data from a real mobile robot and there is evaluated position and azimuth error of odometry solution. Global navigation satellite systems in real time kinematic mode were used as a reference positioning system for evaluation of accuracy of odometry solution. © 2016

The goal of this article is to present and discuss the main parts in designing a CNC embedded motion controller. Firstly, usable motor and drivers are discussed. Then usable control components are presented. About the software, the velocity motion profiles are presented and discussed. Regarding the multi-axis control, some interpolation methods are presented and compared. The practical architecture of the motion controller is discussed and some approaches are compared. In the last part, some fault-tolerant techniques suitable for the controller are discussed. A new approach of fault tolerant method is presented and discussed. © 2016
