The double-link flexible robot manipulator (DLFR) is a highly non-linear system. The development of existing linear models involves a lot of assumptions and approximations in order to reduce the complex calculation. Due to that, this paper presents a non-linear Auto Regressive model with eXogenous inputs (NARX) for DLFR and neural network is used to predict the non-linear segment. Thus, NNARX structure is used to develop four separate model of double link flexible manipulator from torque input to hub angle and from torque input to end point accelerations of each link. The performance of NNARX models are validated via One Step Ahead, Mean Squared Error and correlation tests. © 2016, World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte Ltd. All rights reserved.

In this paper, the contouring control problem for the 5 DoF dual-arm robot manipulators with constraints is studied. The method of equivalent errors, previously proposed for unconstrained motion systems, is generalized to the system with holonomic constraints in which Lagrange approach is taken. It is demonstrated that the proposed method can be applied to the constrained system provided that the constraints satisfy a proper condition. The contouring controller design is dealt with the problem of stabilization obtained by equivalent errors. Experimental results for contouring paths with different feed-rate verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

With the evolution of wireless technologies Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) have gained tremendous exposure in field of sensing remote places. For researchers WSN has been most sought for field due to its wide area of applications and usefulness. Day by day new technologies are evolving with new and efficient features, which keep this field live for development and research oriented work. The key component of WSN, the sensor nodes, is equipped with the required hardware resources and limited energy to spend for the task assigned. So there are requirements to improvise the energy consumption is WSN nodes to increase its life time. There has been various effort put forth for increasing the lifetime of the sensor nodes by adapting to various changes in the techniques at each layer of the sensor node design. The proposed review paper identifies the ways the energy conservation works and been worked upon by researchers apart from clustering and routing. © 2016 IEEE.

Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased. Background: High-resolution estimates of HIV burden across space and time provide an important tool for tracking and monitoring the progress of prevention and control efforts and assist with improving the precision and efficiency of targeting efforts. We aimed to assess HIV incidence and HIV mortality for all second-level administrative units across sub-Saharan Africa. Methods: In this modelling study, we developed a framework that used the geographically specific HIV prevalence data collected in seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care clinics to train a model that estimates HIV incidence and mortality among individuals aged 15–49 years. We used a model-based geostatistical framework to estimate HIV prevalence at the second administrative level in 44 countries in sub-Saharan Africa for 2000–18 and sought data on the number of individuals on antiretroviral therapy (ART) by second-level administrative unit. We then modified the Estimation and Projection Package (EPP) to use these HIV prevalence and treatment estimates to estimate HIV incidence and mortality by second-level administrative unit. Findings: The estimates suggest substantial variation in HIV incidence and mortality rates both between and within countries in sub-Saharan Africa, with 15 countries having a ten-times or greater difference in estimated HIV incidence between the second-level administrative units with the lowest and highest estimated incidence levels. Across all 44 countries in 2018, HIV incidence ranged from 2·8 (95% uncertainty interval 2·1–3·8) in Mauritania to 1585·9 (1369·4–1824·8) cases per 100 000 people in Lesotho and HIV mortality ranged from 0·8 (0·7–0·9) in Mauritania to 676·5 (513·6–888·0) deaths per 100 000 people in Lesotho. This paper presents H∞LPV approach to speed control of induction motor. Robust controller is designed using hybrid current-flux d-q equations of an induction machine. Rotor speed is taken out from these equations and it is used as a scheduling variable. Resulting control effort is computed as a sum of weighted control efforts of each vertex controller. Weight of each control effort depends on current value of scheduling variable (rotor speed). This method results in less conservative approach to speed controler design. © 2016

This research describes the design and development of firmwares for microcontroller and computer (Matlab-Simulink) interfacing techniques. The firmwares are particularly designed and implemented for real-time measurement, analysis and control applications. They are developed with C language to archive better performance. A C-file of the microcontroller is compiled by the XC16 compiler to generate a HEX-file. While a C-file of the Matlab-Simulink is written as standard s-function of the Matlab and then compiled by Visual Studio 2013 using MEX command in Matlab workspace to generate a MEX-file. A Matlab-Simulink application uses the MEX-file as a core function for exchanging data with the microcontroller. Both of the firmwares are implemented based on Event-driven and Queue-driven techniques to maintain real-time ability and to guarantee that all data flowing over UART (RS-232) are transmitted, received and processed on time. To test and evaluate the firmwares, we develop 4-Channel Data Acquisition (DAQ) and 4-Channel PWM Signal Generator (PSG) running on the microcontroller. And in the Matlab-Simulink, an application for visualizing the signals of the DAQ and controlling the signals of the PSG is developed. The experimental results obviously show that the firmwares can be used for computer-based measurement, analysis and control applications properly.

Brushless DC (BLDC) motors have been widely used in industry. However, one of the main drawbacks of using BLDC motors is the undesirable torque ripple. The torque ripple can cause mechanical vibration, acoustic noise and bearing damage that reduces the lifetime of the machine. This paper proposes a simple repetitive control scheme to attenuate torque ripple of BLDC motors. In this method, the ripple is considered as an undesirable repeated signal that will be minimized by the repetitive control scheme. The control input used in the proposed method is controlled transistors switching using space vector pulse width modulation technique. Simulation results show the proposed repetitive control technique results in the apparent reduction of the torque ripple when compared to a conventional control scheme.

This paper presents the study and implementation approaches of microcontroller-based system dynamics emulator for Mechanical system and Electrical system. The main goals of this research are to prove that fixed-point microcontrollers can be used for system dynamics emulator, to study numerical approximation methods for system dynamics modeling and to make a microcontroller working as a system dynamics. Both systems, mechanical and electrical are modeled by Ordinary differential equation method (ODE). The numerical approximation techniques based on Euler's method are studied and used as implementation approaches. The obtained second-order differential equations are then applied by the Reduction of order technique to convert them to first-order differential equations that can be solved by the first-order Euler's methods. The final version of the system equations are finally implemented on a microcontroller and examined thoroughly. The microcontroller that works as a system dynamics connects to a computer through internet network using a standard 802.11b/g Wi-Fi module. Therefore, we can interact with the system running on the microcontroller directly from a web-browser. Web-applications running on a web-browser are used to control and visualize all of system parameters. We closely analyze the experimental results by comparing them with the results obtained by reliable computer software tools, Matlab and Octave. The experimental results show that the proposed approach acquires many desired requirement of system dynamics modeling and it obviously shows that many fixed-point microcontrollers can be properly used for system dynamics emulator.
