It has been recently suggested that concrete processes occurring on the Sun (e.g. sunspots) significantly affect the tropical cyclogenesis. Despite this finding the current understanding of the processes that generate tropical cyclones is still limited. We herewith present a new complex monitoring tool for the collection and storage of relevant environmental information to solve the problem of the tropical cyclone prediction. More specifically, a three-level methodology for making decisions on the dynamical evolution of the ocean-atmosphere system is suggested. This methodology is based on a recently proposed environmental instability indicator and the use of sequential analysis process within which a stage of training is established, when all boundaries are located. Effectiveness of this methodology is assessed by examination of several examples of tropical hurricanes. More specifically, it is demonstrated how this tool can be employed to monitor the tropical hurricanes, like Katrina (2005), Irene (2011) and Isaac (2012).

Recent development in the area of renewable energy sources (RES) shows, that situation in countries supporting a great growth of RES, particularly photovoltaic, leads to big problems. Modelling studies show that in a very near future there will be a big surplus of electrical energy production in networks of NN (low voltage networks). It would evoke necessity to transfer energy into higher voltage networks. However it will not be possible while protection systems of high voltage networks are developed for the opposite flow of energy. Contribution deals with possible solution of stability of NN distribution networks by means of smart metering - smart grid system. Proposal of electronic instrumentation of measurement and control is presented in the contribution. © IFAC.

In This paper a novel ultrasonic dispersion system for the cleaning application or dispersing of particles which are mixed in liquid, has been proposed. The frequency band of designed system is 28 kHz so that the frequency of ultrasonic wave sweeps from 20 kHz to 30 kHz with 100 Hz steps. Transferring a maximum and optimum energy of ultrasonic wave to the liquid conveyor with high efficiency during total usage time is remarkable superiority of designed and manufactured system compares with other similar available systems in markets. High power ultrasonic transducers with the nominal maximum power 110 watt are applied as the ultrasonic wave generator. To increase the efficiency of system and transmitting the maximum energy to the liquid tank, the frequency of system should set on the resonance frequency of transducer. control section is implemented in system for realtime monitoring and adjusting the frequency of system. Hall Effect current sensor is used as the current sampling component and controlling program is implemented on AVR microcontrollers. The manufactured ultrasonic dispersion system is consisted of 4 high power ultrasonic transducer result in 450 watt ultrasonic energy, effectively.

The microfabrication technologies for organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) are essential to the fabrication of the next generation of light-emitting devices. The micro-OLEDs fabricated by room-temperature curing nanoimprint lithography (RTC-NIL) using diamond molds have been investigated. However, light emissions from 10 μm-square-dot OLEDs fabricated by the RTC-NIL method have not been uniform. Therefore, we proposed the fabrication of micro-OLEDs by room-temperature curing nanocontact-print lithography (RTC-NCL) using the diamond-like carbon (DLC) mold. The DLC molds used in RTC-NCL were fabricated by an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) oxygen ion shower with polysiloxane oxide mask in electron beam (EB) lithography technology. The mold patterns are square and rectangle dots which has 10 μm-width, 10 μm-width and 50 μm-length, respectively. The height of the patterns is 500 nm. The DLC molds were used to form the insulating layer of polysiloxane in RTC-NCL. We carried out the RTC-NCL process using the DLC mold under the following optimum conditions: 0.1 MPa-pressure for coating DLC mold with polysiloxane film, 2.1 MPa-pressure for transferring polysiloxane from DLC mold pattern to indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrate. We deposited N,N′-Diphenyl -N,N′-di (m-tolyl)benzidine (TPD) [40 nm-thickness] as hole transport layer / Tris(8-quinolinolato)aluminum (Alq3) [40 nm-thickness] as electron transport layer / A1 [200 nm-thickness] as cathode on ITO glass substrate as anode in this order. We succeeded in formation of the insulating layer with square and rectangle dots which has 10 μm-width, 10 μm-width and 50 μm-length, and operation of micro-OLEDs by RTC-NIL using DLC molds. © 2012 Materials Research Society.

The fabrication of diamond-like carbon (DLC) micro-gear by room temperature curing nanoimprint lithography (RTC-NIL) using glass-like carbon (GC) molds as applications to the DLC-based medical MEMS (Micro Electronic Mechanical systems) was investigated. The DLC film which has excellent properties similar to chemical vapor deposited (CVD) diamond films was used as the patterning material. We propose GC as mold material because GC has higher etching selectivity than a diamond film. The etching selectivity of polysiloxane film against a GC substrate is about 5 times as high as that of a diamond film. Therefore we fabricated the GC molds that have micro-gear patterns with 30 μm-tip diameter and 500 nm-tooth thickness. We carried out the RTC-NIL process using the GC micro-gear molds under the following optimum conditions. 1 min-time from spin-coating to imprint: t1, 0.5 MPa-imprinting pressure: P and 5 min-holding time: t2, and then the imprinted polysiloxane pattern on DLC film was processed with an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) oxygen ion shower. However, we were not able to fabricate micro-gear patterns in high accuracy because of a remaining residual layer on the DLC film. Therefore we propose the removing process for the residual layer with trifluoromethane (CHF3) ion shower under the optimum conditions of 300 eV-ion energy and 4 min-etching time. As a result, we succeeded to fabricate concave DLC-based micro-gear patterns in high accuracy which has 30 μm-tip diameter and 1 μm-depth. © 2013 Materials Research Society.

The Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) of a quadrotor vehicle, which is described by a nonlinear model, are tackled in this paper. The nonlinear identity observer is utilized to detect the various types of sensors faults, and the Generalized Observer Scheme (GOS) is used to isolate the faulty sensor. The robustness of the observer and its scheme is investigated through several simulation results to build the Decision- Making Unit (DMU) for the residuals. Various simulation results have validated the FDI method and shown the system performance towards different fault scenarios.

Two dimensional Fourier transform is a powerful tool for image processing, especially in the field of image restoration and filtration. But also it is useful for detection of periodicities at any angle with respect to the image edge. This paper describes the use of two dimensional Fourier transform in the MATLAB environment to compute the length of a wave and the angle between the line that connects points with the same phase and the edge of an image. Several sets of images were processed in order to demonstrate the properties of two dimensional Fourier transform. The results along with description of the main algorithm are presented.

A low pressure spray pyrolysis (LPSP) process was applied to synthesize crystalline lithium cobalt oxide as a battery cathode material via a liquid route. The effects of temperature and pressure of reactor on the synthesized particles characteristics were systematically investigated. Reactor temperatures of 800, 1000 and 1200 °C with pressures of 760 and 300 Torr were applied as operating conditions. The characterizations results show that the synthesized particles were highly crystalline and nearly spherical in shape. The results concluded that the low-pressure spray pyrolysis method has ability in control of particles morphology, crystallinity and atomic lithium-to-cobalt ratio.

As an application to the nanoemitter, we investigated the nanofabrication of diamond-like carbon (DLC)-dot arrays by room-temperature curing imprint-liftoff (RTCIL) method using aluminum mask. The DLC film which has excellent properties similar to diamond properties was used as the patterning material. A polished glass like carbon (GC) was used as a mold material. The polysiloxane in the state of sticky liquid at room temperature and stable in air exhibits a negative-exposure characteristics. Therefore, the polysiloxane was used as electron beam (EB) resist and oxide mask material in EB lithography, and also used as RTC-imprint resist material. An aluminum was used as oxide metal mask material of liftoff. We have fabricated the GC mold of dot arrays with 5 μm-square and 500 nm-height. We carried out the RTCIL process using the GC mold under the following optimum imprint conditions: 0.5 MPa-imprinting pressure and 5 min- holding time. Aluminum film on the imprinted polysiloxane was prepared by vacuum evaporation method and its thickness is 20 nm. Finally, the polysiloxane patterns were removed with acetone and aluminum mask patterns were fabricated. We found that the maximum etching selectivity of aluminum film against DLC film was as high as 35, which was obtained under an ion energy of 400 eV. Then we processed the patterned aluminum on DLC film with an ECR oxygen ion shower. We fabricated DLC-dot arrays with 5 μm-square and 400 nm-height with an aspect ratio of 0.08. © 2013 Materials Research Society.

This paper deals with the design and implementation of a quadrotor aerial robot. At first, simplified quadrotor model was created. The model describes quadrotor as a MIMO (Multiple Inputs Multiple Outputs) system, which is further divided into four independent SISO (Single Inputs Single Outputs) systems. These systems correspond to rotational movements in all robot axes and one translation movement, which represents flight altitude. Special attention was paid to the identification of actuators. On the basis of the model 4 DOF (Degree of Freedom) stabilization was designed. The stabilization consists of four independent controllers, all of them use auxiliary controlled variable. Inner loops, that control velocities, are controlled by fast P controllers and outer loops use PI controllers due to suppression of disturbances. Designed stabilization was tested by simulation and on a real flying model as well. The paper also describes hardware and software solution.
