MONITORING OF DRIVER'S FATIGUE – STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF TEST DRIVER TRAJECTORIES IN VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTS AND IN DIFFERENT DRIVER STRESS DEGREES

The aim of this work was to develop a methodology for measuring and evaluation of dynamic behavior of the driver in various environments, to determine the differences between the behavior of unwearied and fatigued driver and to propose a development of a mechanism for detection of dangerous situations. Sets of test drives with unwearied drivers were performed on a highway, in the tunnel and at the simulator, followed by statistical analysis. The most suitable characteristics were determined and used for comparison with data obtained from test drives performed within 24 Hours. Allan deviation and Poincare distance are the best parameters for the determination of driver's behavior, because these parameters are calculated from neighboring consecutive samples and carry immediate information about changes of driver's performance. In the experiments with fatigue-influenced driver, the case of vehicle going to get out of the traffic line was well detectable.

The objective of this paper is to have a look on the interaction of electromagnetic field (EM) on biological tissue from the view of physiological and electrical engineering. The understanding of the phenomena in the interaction may give clear picture on the fundamental concept of dielectric dispersion in term of suitable frequency application and the reaction of biological tissue to it. The other factors such as thermal effect also will be gone through. This review may provide some useful information to the research of magnetic induction tomography on the biological tissue imaging and electromagnetic therapy which apply electromagnetic field at certain frequency in their application. © 2012 IFSA.

Head-positioning with vibration suppression in hard disk drive systems

This paper proposed a controller design technique for controlling the movement of the head in the Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) system to any track accurately. The simulation results by modeling the HDDs as a two-mass system with a spring flexure controlled by the optimal H2 with the derivative state constrained revealed that only these constraining weights are not enough to eliminate the steady state errors. To accomplish this task, the type of the system to be controlled was modified by adding an integrator;then the derivative state constrained optimal H2 integral servo controller is applied. The HDD head position to any tracks with no offset and the vibrations are also to be suppressed as well. ICIC International © 2012.

In this paper we propose a supervised multi-agent control strategy for leather manufacturing processes. In a tannery numerous processes are performed and in order to control them we use an agent for each process. Due to the control from distance, the systems are affected by varying communication delays which can affect the quality of the final product. The supervisor is used to adjust, by using the fuzzy logic, the command provided by each agent. Simulation results are presented. The results show performance improvement when our control strategy is used.

This paper describes development of the module, which analyzes medical images and its use is also possible in sectors other than medicine. A software module can base on events captured on the ECG graph store images, which the event concerned. Since the ECG chart is only available on video, you will need to analyze this video and chart to properly recognize it. This module plugged together with two other simultaneously developed modules in the FOTOM 2009 will make a brand new version of this application FOTOM NG .

Neural networks as universal approximators possess capability to model complex nonlinear phenomena. However, when almost nothing is known about the modeled dynamic process it is difficult to determine important parameters like the number of neurons or the size of regressor vector (dynamic order). In order to avoid suboptimal settings for a dynamic model using trial-and-error method, genetic algorithm is used for optimizing the neural dynamic model. To improve the results even more, the genetic optimization is hybridized with a local optimizer in the form of Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm commonly used for neural network training. Here a neural model of biomass-fired boiler emissions is considered, which is eventually intended for predictive control. Series-parallel NARX model is used with two hidden layer neural network and tan-sigmoid transfer functions. The simpler neural model structure will be computationally less expensive what is important for online predictive control. The results confirm the capability of this method to achieve simpler network structures with errors comparable to the case when trial-and-error settings were previously used.

This paper describes the processing of photographs in the newly created module for 2D modeling, which will be integrated into the system FOTOM NG . This is a usable application in medicine to analyze images of probes and non-invasive examination developed at the department of computer science of the technical university of Ostrava. The module will be his purpose and functionality to build on a previous version of module Fotom2 of system FOTOM, but will be expanded to meet the requirements of a modern system. The module will be implemented on the NetBeans Platform. In the paper we describe the 2D modeling, analyzing the existing software requirements specifications for the new module, selecting software tools, and the subsequent design and implementation.

The dental panoramic radiography is one of dental imaging that used to visualize the entirety of the maxilla and mandible jaws on the one image planes. Although the direct digital panoramic radiography has been available, however film-based panoramic radiography is still used on the mostly dental clinic and laboratory in Indonesia. The quality of film-based image has significant limitation due to chemical processing and image enhancement cannot be done if required. Therefore, digitized film-based image to digital image was required to allow image enhancements in order to improve the interpretability quality of information in the image. Digitized film-based image is performed using a flatbed scanner on transmission and reflection mode. In this paper, the contrast quality of digital image that scanned using both mode is evaluated based on statistic image characteristic. The results showed that the quality of digitized image using transmission mode is better than using reflection mode. However, if direct digital imaging is used as a gold standard, image enhancement on digitized image is still required. Four methods, i.e. contrast stretching, HE, AHE, and CLAHE are used to attempt improve the quality digitized image. Evaluation of the preference image quality is performed based on objective criterion. The preference image quality for digitized panoramic image can be obtained by using image enhancement based on CLAHE-Rayleigh method, that indicated by the lowest value of mean, standard deviation, RMSE, and average difference and the higher value of NAE and SAE.

Tuning of controller is one of the most basic functions in control engineering in obtaining optimal control parameters and hence achieving optimal dynamic responses of the system. The work presents the self-tuning PI controller that potential to auto-tune the controller parameters and adapting the changes in controlled process parameter for a MIMO system. The decentralized PI controller with an adaptive interaction algorithm is developed and tested to nonlinear multivariable wastewater treatment plant. It is aims to self-tune the PI control parameters in regulating the substrate and DO concentrations from a steady state operating point. It was observed that the proposed control structure and the tuning algorithm were successfully tracks the desired set-point with considerable effects in noisy environment.

The aqua-plasma, non-thermal plasmas in liquids, can be discharged by forming the vapor coverage by Joule heating on the metal electrode. The electric field is decided by thickness of vapor coverage with applied voltage. It implies that the thickness of vapor coverage is the key parameter to the control the characteristics of aqua-plasma. The aquaplasma electrode consists with discharge tip, dielectric, and counter electrode. The tip covering vapor attaches on the dielectric with high surface tension coefficient. In this work, the effects of dielectric temperature on the mode transition of aqua-plasma are studied. The aqua-plasmas are discharged by applying ac driven voltage on the saline immersed discharge tip, size of 400 μm. The temperature of dielectric is controlled in range of 330 K - 500 K by varying the thickness from 90 μm to 780 μm. Ground electrode is placed under 30 mm of the tip. The V-I signals are monitored by using the voltage and current probes. The aqua-plasma shows three different modes with the thickness of dielectric; Townsend mode, glow-like mode, and spark mode. In case of 0.09 mm, dielectric temperature is relatively low, 330 K, due to thermal conduction from heated electrode to electrolyte. The spark discharge simultaneously occurs with the formation of vapor, 150 μm, with electric field of 5.2 MV/m. The vapor coverage is collapsed by high dose of plasma charge and re-built. In the 0.78 mm, dielectric temperature reaches to 500 K by low thermal conduction. Thickness of vapor coverage increases to 220 μm. The electric field is reduced to 3.4 MV/m and vapor coverage is maintained, Townsend mode streamer discharge takes place. The vapor coverage is oscillating since streamer heats up the vapor surface. In the intermediate dielectric thickness, 0.35 mm, glow-like discharge occurs. Also the rotation temperatures of aquaplasma produced ·OH* (T rot_·OH* ) are estimated by using the Boltzmann plot method on the OES. The two different T rot_·OH* are
