The importance of well adjustable optical system is considered essential whenever reliable results are expected to be delivered. In this paper we focus on optical components for precise measurement of generated light signals in fundamental research. The proposed upgraded components are to be used in laser based experiments. With improved precision of pointation and system stability we aim to gain reproducible and robust data even in sensitive experiments which deal with detecting weak optical signals. Described technical solution even spares time needed to adjust the whole optical system. All described components have to deal with special environmental constraints like high noise and vibration level.

The most usual way of using chemical method to protect crop against weed, insects, and fungi is spraying the mixture of chemicals and water onto crop through the nozzles. Sprayers usually moved on the field by tractor, and tractor induced unwanted vibration to sprayer because of uneven soil or terrain. This oscillation leads to over-doses and under-doses of chemical sprayed on the field. For this reason, many commercial and some theoretical suspension were made to reduce undesirable vibration. Therefore, in this study a finite element based model was established to represent the dynamic behavior of spray boom structure with 8m width. The first tenth natural frequencies were obtained between 9.25 Hz to 1,182.5 Hz. Also, a passive vertical suspension was designed to remove unwanted vibration with 0.5 vibration transmissibility. Finally, the suspension system was simulated to be as certain of its efficiency. The results of simulation have good agreement to the proposed aim.

This article describes the problem of the automatic production of a tuning fork with a tip for atomic force microscopy (AFM). It contains hardware and software (image processing) description of a self acting machine developed to solve the problem. The image processing main goal is to measure distances between individual parts during the fabrication process. A camera with high resolution and macro objective is used to acquire images during the assembly process. For getting better results, we perform correction of the used camera distortion and its calibration. Together with proposed image processing methods we use the camera as an accurate distance sensor. So obtained data we then used to control the process. We implemented proposed image processing methods in C++ using Intel OpenCV library. The machine is able to produce the tuning fork with the tip with constant parameters, which is important for future work with the microscope.

We consider the problem of implementing security algorithms into embedded systems deployed in automation applications. Such systems are typically built on embedded microcontrollers with limited resources and as hardware changes may not be possible or convenient, the software based cryptography is a suitable solution. In this paper we present results of performance benchmarks of different software-implemented symmetric cryptography algorithms on 8 and 16-bit microcontroller platforms. The contribution of the work is in comparing performance of different algorithms, embedded microcontroller platforms, effects of optimizations and different implementations.

This paper presents a method of manufacturing of thin slits-like holes made by electro discharge (EDM) technique. Three different possibilities of thin slits EDM manufacturing are discussed. A sinking process with a planar rib electrode was figured out as an optimal solution for manufacturing of thin slits down to 20 μm. A process of a planar sinking electrode preparation with cross-section dimensions 18×500μm is described. A problem of such electrode wear during AlMg5 alloy sinking is also presented.

Abstract Various approaches to the PID controller tuning account for a substantial part of the undergraduate controlengineering curricula. At the most general level, these approaches can be divided into two groups. Model based methods use some kind of mathematical model of the controlled plant while the experimental methods rely on a simple experiment that is performed with the plant. The students usually understand that obtaining a sufficiently accurate mathematical model of the plant is not easy and may involve many complex issues. On the other hand, the experimental methods may be regarded as an easy to follow recipe that can be directly applied according to the textbook to obtain the desired tuning. This paper shows the common pitfalls that can arise when these methods are applied in their idealized textbook form. The main focus is on how these pitfalls can be demonstrated using experiments with two laboratory plants of different complexity.

Electrodynamic sensor was used in process industry because of lower price and robust designed. It is also used to increase the efficiency of energy and raw materials usage and to improve product quality and process efficiency. Three types of electrode are available in particular application such as pin shape, quarter ring shape and ring shape. This paper focused on the investigation of the pin shape structure and the characteristic of the rectangular shape by using different structure sizes of various lengths and with fixed width. Non-instrusive method was applied to the design of rectangular electrode. The characteristic based on sensitivity of electrode and the spatial filtering effect of sensor will be investigated by using different size of electrodes. Then, the model will be proposed and compared with experimental result.
