This paper presents the design process of a control system for an automotive assembly line. An assembly line is composed of several zones, which in turn contain several stations. All the control functions are assured by a programmable logic controller. The versatile feature is given by the fact that the assembly line can build two types of vehicles without downtime. The PLC program can switch on the fly to the logic corresponding to the type of vehicle detected. Great importance was given to safety. Additional hardware and software redundancies were used. The human-machine interface has been designed to provide operators with quick accommodation, efficient use and quick and easy navigation through the multiple levels of screens to the desired level of detail. The techniques used in this work increase the productivity and flexibility of the assembly line. Also, measures taken regarding the safety increase confidence in the system and reduce personnel injury or financial loss due to malfunctions or mishandling. © 2023 IEEE.

The load on a power station varies from time to time due to uncertain demands of the consumers and is known as variable load on the station. Also it is known to have an effect on the performance of a power system stabilizer while damping inter-area oscillation. In this paper conventional lead lag PSS and PSS2B are assessed on real case studies;Peerdawod Gas power station in north of Iraq- Erbil. The PSS utilizes the local rotor speed and power as its input. To investigate the effects of dynamic loads on power systems stability, the effectiveness of PSS is tested and compared with the variation of loads during and after sadden faults. The simulation software that used MatlabTM/Simulink;and results of this paper contribute to the understanding of how load variations influence the system damping based on PSS. © 2023 IEEE.

Waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is a relevant concern in Europe. Even if relevant improvements have been made in terms of material recovery technologies and policy measures, there remains a significant gap between the amount of WEEE generated versus collected in the EU. This study is based on an online survey whose aim was to assess the attitude of students (i.e., individuals who dispose with a higher frequency electronic product) to buy/substitute three iconic product types (i.e., smartphones, notebooks, televisions), and their openness toward circular practices (i.e., recycling, reconditioning, reuse). Results have shown that: a) new products represent the greatest market share, b) reliability and quality were the most significant factors influencing the purchase decision in all product types, and c) circular premium was not recognized by students for any product type. From a social perspective, a responsible consumption pattern emerged, though a sustainability bias was evident with respect to products' residual value. From an economic perspective, these findings may inform companies about the orientation of young consumers and provide key insights for new business strategies. Results suggest that a proper waste management strategy also requires a behavioral change of people who should adopt it. © 1973-2011 IEEE.

In urban environments, complex transportation demands, including land, air, and maritime transport, are increasingly growing. While significant advancements have been made in land transportation and autonomous driving, research on urban air mobility (UAM) systems is still in its early stages. This paper presents an innovative urban air unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) framework: AirVista, which is designed and built based on the Artificial systems, Computational experiments, and Parallel execution (ACP) approach, integrated with a multimodal large language model (MLLM) agent. Considering that UAM tasks often require UAVs to possess fine-grained spatial perception and reasoning capabilities, and given that existing MLLMs are somewhat lacking in exploring 3D spaces, this paper further proposes an instruction fine-tuning strategy integrated with 3D spatial knowledge, which has been validated experimentally for its effectiveness. Additionally, to enhance the understanding of the efficiency of MLLM for UAV tasks, this paper delves into prompt fine-tuning templates tailored for UAV task decomposition. Through experimental demonstrations, we showcase that the prompt-tuned MLLM exhibits efficient task decomposition and execution capabilities in handling complex UAV tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper provides a comprehensive tutorial on a family of Model Predictive control (MPC) formulations, known as MPC for tracking, which are characterized by including an artificial reference as part of the decision variables in the optimization problem. These formulations have several benefits with respect to the classical MPC formulations, including guaranteed recursive feasibility under online reference changes, as well as asymptotic stability and an increased domain of attraction. This tutorial paper introduces the concept of using an artificial reference in MPC, presenting the benefits and theoretical guarantees obtained by its use. We then provide a survey of the main advances and extensions of the original linear MPC for tracking, including its non-linear extension. Additionally, we discuss its application to learning-based MPC, and discuss optimization aspects related to its implementation. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid development of information technologies such as digital twin, extended reality, and blockchain,the hype around "metaverse" is increasing at astronomical speed. However, much attention has been paid to its entertainment and social functions. Considering the openness and interoperability of metaverses, the market of quality inspection promises explosive growth. In this paper, taking advantage of metaverses, we first propose the concept of Automated Quality Inspection(Auto QI), which performs integrated inspection covering the entire manufacturing process, including Quality of Materials, Quality of Manufacturing(Qo M), Quality of Products, Quality of Processes(Qo P), Quality of systems, and Quality of Services(Qo S). Based on the scenarios engineering theory, we discuss how to perform interactions between metaverses and the physical world for virtual design instruction and physical validation feedback. Then we introduce a bottomup inspection device development workflow with productivity tools offered by metaverses, making development more effective and efficient than ever. As the core of quality inspection,we propose Quality Transformers to complete detection task,while federated learning is integrated to regulate data *** summary, we point out the development directions of quality inspection under metaverse tide.

Industrial laser cutting offers numerous advantages, including high speed, precision, and the ability to process a wide range of materials. However, the versatility of this technology presents a significant challenge when determining the appropriate power and speed for cutting materials. As the laser cutting machine operator selects the cutting parameters manually, confusion can quickly arise when cutting visually similar materials. This confusion can directly affect the cutting quality and result in errors and wasted materials. This study presents an automated material classification approach based on deep learning that utilizes convolutional neural networks (CNN) and laser speckle sensing. A comprehensive dataset of speckle pattern images for the most commonly used laser-cutting materials is proposed in this paper. The dataset is created by capturing the scattered speckle patterns of the material being cut using a USB camera and includes 6000 speckle pattern images. A deep-learning model based on the pre-trained VGG16 model is then trained on the proposed dataset. The performance of the model is experimentally evaluated on a test set of 200 images with varying orientations and lighting conditions for each sample. The F1-score, recall, and precision metrics validate the robustness of the model in distinguishing between the used materials. The results demonstrate the ability of the model to classify the materials, achieving a notably high classification accuracy of 98.1%. This approach provides an automated and cost-effective solution for organizing laser-cutting materials, enabling operators to select the appropriate power and speed for the cutting process based on the type of material being cut. © 2023 IEEE.

The results of electrodynamic modeling of the ultra-wideband antenna array radiator using the ANSYS HFSS software are presented in the paper. The frequency characteristics of the ultra-wideband antenna array radiator using the ANSYS software was numerically simulated. The frequency characteristics of the ultra-wideband antenna array radiator were received. The VSWR of the ultra-wideband antenna array radiator does not exceed 2.54 within the operating frequency range. The radiator provides a scanning angle both in azimuth and in elevation angle as a part of the ultra-wideband digital antenna array not less than ± 29.95. © 2023 IEEE.

The integration algorithm with variable selection at each step in the numerical construction of ray trajectories in the medium with a given dependence of the dielectric constant on coordinates is presented in the paper. The estimation of the convergence of calculations to a known exact solution is estimated on the example of rays trajectories calculation for the Luneberg lens within the terahertz range. The trajectories of rays incident parallel to the ordinate axis and the trajectories of rays incident at the angle equal to 45 degrees to the ordinate axis are calculated. It is shown that when the grid step decreases, the convergence of the results to the exact solution is observed. The integration algorithm with selection of the variable at each step provides the construction of ray trajectories accurate to the grid step on the example of a Luneberg lens. © 2023 IEEE.
