This paper presents a real-time simulation system based on ve-DYNA. A vehicle dynamics model is built with ve-DYNA, and then a hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) system for a kind of vehicle control unit is developed with dSPACE. Comparing the simulation results with the experiment results, it shows that the HILS system can provide a precise realtime simulation system for the development of vehicle control unit.

The document image segmentation is an important component in the document image understanding. kernel-based methods have demonstrated excellent performances in a variety of pattern recognition problems. This paper applies kernel-based methods and Gabor wavelet to the document image segmentation. The feature image are derived from Gabor filtered images. Taking the computational complexity into account, we subject the sampled feature image to spectral clustering algorithm (SCA). The clustering results serve as training samples to train a support vector machine (SVM). The initial segmentation is obtained by assigning class labels to pixels of the feature image with the trained SVM. A proper post-processing is used to improve the segmentation result. Several representative document images scanned from popular newspapers and journals are employed to verify the effectiveness of our algorithm.

This paper investigates robust fault detection problem for a class of discrete-time LPV systems with time-varying delays. Attention is focused on constructing the residual generator based on the filter whose parameters matrices depend on time-varying parameters, and formulating the design of fault detection filters as H/sub /spl infin// filtering problem. The objective is to make the difference between the residual and the fault as small as possible, and enhance the robustness to control input, unknown input. Sufficient condition for the existence of the above filters is established by means of linear matrix inequalities. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the feasibility and applicability of the proposed approach.

The supercapacitor is a high efficient and green energy storage component that offers intensive charging and discharging current and performs a perfect reliability and cycling ability. In this paper, three topics are discussed for supercapacitor-based system research and application. Firstly, a comparison among several parameter models of the supercapacitor is presented. In the same time, the characteristics of ESR (equivalent series resistance) and EPR (equivalent parallel resistance) are described and studied. Secondly, the methods of voltage sharing and overvoltage protection for series connected supercapacitors are discussed, and their advantages and disadvantages are compared with each other. Thirdly, a radiation experiment is taken to examine the supercapacitor in its anti-radiation ability for spaceflight application.

This paper is concerned with the problem of H ∞ model reference control for networked feedback systems. The physical plant and the controller are, respectively, in continuous time and discrete time. By using a sampled-data approach, a new model based on the updating instants of the zeroth-order hold (ZOH) is formulated, and a linear matrix inequality (LMI) based procedure is proposed for designing state-feedback controllers, which guarantee the output of the closed-loop networked control system tracks the output of a given reference model well in the H ∞ sense. In this paper, a robust VQ-based digital image watermarking scheme for Fritchman channel model is proposed. Before transmission, a novel VQ-based watermarking scheme with genetic codebook partition is adopted to get higher PSNR values between the original and watermarked images, and then the genetic algorithm is adopted to jointly optimize the channel distortion and the bit-correct-rate of the extracted watermarks. The performance comparison of IA for BSC model and Fritchman model is presented, the simulation results also show that the genetic algorithm based jointly optimized method is effective.
