In this paper, a wavelet-based method for measuring the particulate velocities in a duct via an active electrostatic sensor is presented. The main motivation behind this paper is to avoid the problems which cross-correlation signal processing techniques exist, Le. they are sensitive to the distortion of the output waveforms and the variance of the output pulse width from the detecting electrode of the sensor. Instead of cross-correlation techniques, the signal rising edges from the wavelet transforms of the signals of the electric charger and the detecting electrode of the sensor are used to determine the paniculate velocity in the duct. As a consequence, the proposed method is robust to the distortion of the output waveforms and the variance of the output pulse width so that it is specifically suitable for measuring the particulate velocity with the spread of velocities within a conveyor. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method and show that the new method can achieve a better measured result than that of the cross correlation techniques.

For fault diagnosis, signal singularity and irregularity discontinuity fraction are very significant characteristics of signal. The discontinuity of output signal represents a system fault . In an angular measuring system, function transformer uses two D/A convertors, output circuit fault of a D/A convertor brings about discontinuity of one phase input voltage amplitude of inductosyn, results in a system error exceeding the allowable error and reduces the system accuracy. This is the reason why discontinuity is detected. Fourier transform has no resolution ability in angular domain, but wavelet can analyse signal in angular and frequency domains. So we decompose the error signal of angular measuring system by wavelet, detect the signal singularity at high frequency layer and find out the accurate position of it.

In the framework of moving horizon strategy, a robust estimation problem is formulated as a min-max problem subject to system dynamics and constraints on state and disturbance. In this paper two algorithms of the state estimation for the constrained linear system with an uncertain model are presented. First, we present an approximate recursive covariance matrix for the min-max problem with moving horizon N=1. Then a new recursive covariance matrix algorithm for the worst-case of the uncertain system is discussed and the covariance matrix is proved bounded for the unconstrained linear system. Simulation results show that the robust moving horizon estimation proposed in this paper is effective for constrained linear systems with uncertain model.

This paper investigates a robust moving horizon estimation method for the constrained system with uncertain model. In the framework of moving horizon strategy, we formulated the robust estimation problem as a min-max problem subject to system dynamics and constraints on states and disturbances. In this paper an algorithm of the robust moving horizon estimation is developed and a recursive covariance matrix algorithm is presented. Moreover, for the unconstrained system, the algorithm stability is discussed. Simulation results show that the robust moving horizon estimation proposed in this paper is effective for constrained linear systems with uncertain model.

CIPS plays an important role in the field of continuous process automation. In this paper, the problem of process monitoring and control for alcohol production is first presented. A three-layer DCS is used for process measurement and monitoring, in which fuzzy logic-based PID controllers are utilized to fine-tune the key parameters. We also explore the optimal control strategy in both off-line and on-line optimization. The implementation details of these two proposed schemes under a CIPS information integration environment are further given.

The designed filters guaranteeing a prescribed I2-I∞or H∞noise attenuation level can be obtained from the solution of convex optimization problems which can be solved via efficient interior point methods. Numerical examples have shown that the filter design procedures proposed in this paper are much less conservative than earlier results.

In this paper, the numerical simulation of the mold filling process for TiAl alloys exhaust valve castings was performed. The relationship between melt cross-section area during mold filling, free surface inclined angle and mold filling distance was derived. Based on the analysis of the force exerted on the liquid during centrifugal casting and the Navier-Stokes equation of liquid flow and the equation of continuity, a numerical simulation model for the mold filling process of centrifugal casting of TiAl alloy exhaust valves was developed. A mold filling experiment of centrifugal casting was carried out using paraffin as the simulation fluid. The actual data of melt cross-section area and free surface inclined angles of fluid at different rotation speed were obtained. The comparison shows that the results of simulation agree with those of experiments.
