The inverse problem of ultrasound beamforming has recently emerged as a novel imaging method, attracting growing interest from the research community. Inverse problems in ultrasound beamforming hypothesize that the received signal is linearly correlated with the beamformed image. Based on this assumption, a minimization problem comprises a fidelity term derived from the linear model and a regularization term that considers prior information about the underlying image. This study introduces the non-local structure tensor total variation as the regularization term to exploit the image’s local geometry and non-local self-similarity properties. Such regularization can also preserve the edge or orientation of an image. The simulation results demonstrate that using a single plane wave, the proposed method can achieve a spatial resolution of 0.34 mm full-width at half-maximum, a contrast-to-noise ratio of 16.82 dB, and a generalized contrast-to-noise ratio of 0.99.

Soil-available potassium content is essential for agricultural crop management. The electrochemical measurement method exhibits advantages of high speed, low cost, and simple operation. However, it encounters challenges, such as poor signal reproducibility, limited sample accessibility, and restrictions on measurement accuracy. To address these issues, the Nernst informed neural network (NINN)-based electrochemical measurement of soil-available potassium content is proposed. The framework for the electrochemical soil-available potassium content measurement is established. The proposed method is developed to exploit the nonlinear relationship between the electrical signal and the soil-available potassium content end-to-end with a single potassium ions-selective electrode. The NINN in the proposed method is developed to improve the measurement accuracy on the dataset with a limited number of samples by integrating Nernst mechanism into the network. The potassium-content dynamic estimation in the proposed method is developed to overcome the uncertainties of the dilution factor and influence of interfering ions. The practical measurement exhibits the mean absolute percentage error in a low range and the time within 10 min. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method improves the accuracy compared to purely data-driven models and reduces the electrochemical measurement costs. Furthermore, the proposed method also exhibits the superiority in terms of measurement speed;operational complexity compared to the commercial products relied on spectroscopy. The proposed method can contribute to the advancement of the measurement of soil nutrients. © 2023 IEEE.

With the widespread use of power electronic equipment, accurately identifying soft faults in power electronic converters is crucial for the stable and reliable operation of power electronic equipment. This paper proposed a soft fault diagnosis method for three-phase DC/AC converter using a data-based approach. Firstly, simulation analysis is conducted on the soft faults of three-phase DCI AC converter, and appropriate test signals are selected as data sources. Then, the LSTM neural network and its variants are used to obtain fault diagnosis models. Finally, the method is validated through experiments, and the results show that it has good performance in soft fault diagnosis of the three-phase DCI AC converter.

In this paper, we present a time-delay approach to gradient-based bounded extremum seeking (ES) with large measurement constant delay, for an unknown single-input static quadratic map. We assume that the extremum point and the Hessian $H$ belong to known intervals, whereas the sign of $H$ is known. We apply a time-delay approach to the bounded ES system and arrive at the neutral type system with a nominal linear delayed system. We present the latter system as a retarded one and employ variation of constants formula for practical stability analysis. Explicit conditions in terms of simple scalar inequalities depending on tuning parameters and delay are established to guarantee the practical stability of the bounded ES control systems. Given any delay and neighborhood of the extremum point and through the solution of the constructed inequalities, we find lower bounds on the dither period that ensures the practical stability.

This paper investigates the robust fault-tolerant control issue for a type of periodic piecewise time-varying systems (PPTVSs). The PPTVS is modeled considering the coexistence of external disturbances, structural parameter perturbations, and actuator failures in the system. Stability analysis is conducted for the considered PPTVS, and a sufficient condition concerning the exponential stability of the closed-loop system is given. Through a matrix polynomial approach capable of decoupling time-varying parameters, the robust fault-tolerant controller synthesis is transformed into a convex optimization problem. Flexible controller gains are enabled through selectable subinterval partitioning parameters. A sufficient condition is presented for maintaining the exponential stability, achieving H∞ disturbance attenuation, and obtaining a tractable robust fault-tolerant controller. Simulation verification using a multi-input multi-output PPTVS model shows that the designed controller can maintain the exponential stability under actuator failures, satisfy the H∞ performance index, and exhibiting robustness against structural parameter perturbations. © 2023 IEEE.

Combinatorial testing is an efficient test method, which can achieve high test coverage with as few test cases as possible. However, there are a large amount of test cases of combinatorial testing in industrial practice. If all the test cases are applied to executing, it takes a vast time and cost. How to select a subset of test cases which can guarantee failure detection rate is a common problem. In this paper, we introduce a novel technique for test case prioritization of combinatorial testing based on supervised machine learning. Our approach considers the test results of a small t-way covering array and the machine learning algorithm SVM is used to learn the test results first. Then SVM is used to predict a large t-way covering array. The test cases in the large t-way covering array are ordered according to the predicted results. The test cases which can lead failures in system under tests are ordered ahead. They own the priority. A subset of the ordered covering array which is selected from the start of the covering array can replace the whole covering array with time and cost saved reasonably. Our approach is evaluated by means of comparing the covering arrays which are ordered by SVM and the random ordering. Our results imply that our technique improves the failure detection rate significantly. © 2021 IEEE.

Ultrasonography is the preferred method for detecting lung lesions, which has been widely recognized and adopted. In order to reduce the work stress and risk of infection for health care workers, lung ultrasound (LUS) scanning robots can be used to perform this task instead of doctors. For the LUS scanning robot, the first critical step is the detection of the scanned areas of the patient's lungs. The algorithms using computer vision and deep learning have made significant progress in the field of target detection, which are being applied more and more frequently to robotic autonomous decision-making. However, some of the performance of the traditional convolutional neural networks (CNN) still needs to be improved due to the more stringent requirements for real-time, accuracy and hardware cost of LUS scanning robots. The effectiveness of CNN combined with computer vision for detecting scanned sites in LUS scanning robots is explored and a lightweight Yolo network based on the attention mechanism is proposed. We use Yolo V4- Tiny model as the backbone network. Then the depth feature information of the feature layer output from the backbone network are extracted by adding space and channel attention mechanism, and the prediction results are output by using Yolo head model. Meanwhile, we also optimize the loss function of the network to further improve the performance of the network. Compared to several classical algorithms, the proposed method improves the target detection performance of the LUS scanning robot, which achieves 98.83% average precision, 96.87% precision, and 91.00% F1 score. We apply the proposed algorithm to the designed LUS scanning robot system and conduct clinical experiments. The results have shown that the proposed method has a 3D localization accuracy of 7.53 ± 0.37mm for the lung scanned sites, which has the potential to be applied to the target detection of the LUS scanning robot.

Observer-based methods are widely used to estimate the disturbances of different dynamic systems. However, a drawback of the conventional disturbance observers is that they all assume persistent excitation (PE) of the systems. As a result, they may lead to poor estimation precision when PE is not ensured, for instance, when the disturbance gain of the system is close to the singularity. In this paper, we propose a novel disturbance observer based on concurrent learning (CL) with time-variant history stacks, which ensures high estimation precision even in PE-free cases. The disturbance observer is designed in both continuous and discrete time. The estimation errors of the proposed method are proved to converge to a bounded set using the Lyapunov method. A history-sample-selection procedure is proposed to reduce the estimation error caused by the accumulation of old history samples. A simulation study on epidemic control shows that the proposed method produces higher estimation precision than the conventional disturbance observer when PE is not satisfied. This justifies the correctness of the proposed CL-based disturbance observer and verifies its applicability to solving practical problems. © 2023, CC BY-NC-SA.

To minimize the disturbance of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) cutterhead on the surrounding rock during the coal mine roadway excavation process and ensure that the cutterhead rotation speed achieves fast tracking performance with minimal overshoot, we propose a direct adaptive robust control method for the cutterhead rotation speed hydraulic system based on inversion design. This method considers the strong disturbances such as loads and motion affecting the cutterhead hydraulic drive system, as well as the uncertainties in the cutterhead model. We establish the nonlinear model of the cutterhead hydraulic drive system and employ virtual control to reduce the model order. Using Lyapunov functions, we ensure the stability of the entire system and derive the control law for the cutterhead rotation speed controller, along with parameter-adaptive laws acting as parameter estimators. We validate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy through joint simulation using AMESim and Simulink. The results show that the designed cutterhead rotation speed controller achieves high tracking accuracy and good adaptability.

Fuzzy control and sliding mode control technologies play an increasingly important role in a myriad of applications, like the autonomous vehicle systems. In this paper, the fuzzy model for the autonomous vehicle system with a dynamic positioning system is established firstly. Then the stability analysis and controller synthesis are provided, the solution method of the sliding mode control gain is synthesized. Finally, a simulation example provides evidence of the availability of the control strategy.
