The common-mode (CM) choke is critical integral part of an electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter. An accurate electrical model of the CM choke is crucial to simulate and evaluate the EMI filter performance with confidence. Numerical simulation has emerged as a feasible solution to realize the above-mentioned objectives without the presence of physical products, and thus reducing the trial-and-error process and achieving the choke design speedups. This paper proposes a comprehensive process for the characterization and modeling of single-phase CM chokes based on finite-element analysis (FEA). By extracting the transmission parameters through 3-D model of choke, both impedance magnitudes and phases of its CM or differential-mode (DM) can be collected. These impedances will then be used to derive the behavioral model. The results are validated experimentally with good agreement up to 100 MHz.

Clay mixed soil is a combination of clay and soil components that may be used as the core of earth dams and the foundation for building and road construction. Up until now, significant research work has been carried out to design cement-based clay materials; however, only a couple of studies have been reported in the literature on earth-based materials. The methodology portion provides an overview of the different materials, tools, and protocols used during work to develop ways to earth-based materials and study their early age compression strength along with their shear strength. Finally, it summarizes all the results and the outcome of the experimental work done. The probability of producing an object using earth-based material was examined. Improvement in the compressive strength in the early age of strength by adding additives like bentonite and rice husk was assessed in this study. Three clayey soil samples were investigated. The undrained shear strength based on an unconfined compression test (UCT) over those samples was measured by varying the moisture content (MC). After performing all these tests, a relationship was developed between the UCT and vane shear test (VST) undrained shear strengths of the selected soil samples. Clay samples with different mix designs were investigated, and building components were printed out to check the early age shear strength development and printable properties of different mix designs. This study will lay the foundation for further research on different aspects relating to the emerging technology of 3D clay printing in Pakistan.

A Low-Carbon Planning Strategy for Integrated Energy System and Hydrogen Refueling Stations with the Retirement of Oil Stations

Hydrogen vehicles (HVs) are believed to be an effective alternative to fossil fuel vehicles for carbon emission reduction. However, the advantage of HVs highly depends on the carbon emissions in the process of hydrogen production. In this paper, a novel two-milestone collaborative planning model is proposed to achieve carbon reduction by integrated energy network transformation. Firstly, in milestone Ⅰ, a low-carbon power system is established by dynamically retiring coal-fired power plants and promoting renewable energy. In milestone Ⅱ, with the help of the carbon emission flow model, hydrogen production stations are innovatively constructed at the nodes with extremely low carbon emission intensity in the power system. Different methods of hydrogen production are adopted, and the coupling of the power and hydrogen networks are effectively employed. Additionally, oil stations are constantly withdrawing under the construction of hydrogen refueling stations for further emission reduction, where the dilemma of cost and environmental concerns is addressed by minimizing the average cost of carbon emission reduction. Finally, the simulation results of a coupled 24-bus power system, 7-point natural gas system, and 9-node hydrogen system verify the effectiveness of the proposed model in establishing an eco-friendly energy system. © 2023, The Authors. Batteries are widely applied in industrial systems, promoting industrial production efficiency. The system prognosis needs to establish a battery health monitoring model and maintain regular maintenance, improving reliability and safety while reducing unnecessary economic losses. An accurate data-driven state-of-health (SOH) estimation method is crucial, as it mainly relies on the information related to battery SOH values in the extracted features. Therefore, we propose a statistical-based feature extraction method, which makes it physically meaningful and effective. To explore more information, we propose a feature analysis framework to analyze battery features, including visualization, correlation, and importance analysis. We utilize a random forest regression model as an effective learner and validate it based on NASA’s real-world dataset. The feature analysis contents are beneficial for understanding the role and importance of features in SOH estimation tasks, which can also provide an extended scenario for feature extraction of batteries.

A New Fuzzy H∞ Filter Design for Nonlinear Time-Delay Systems with Mismatched Premise Membership Functions

This paper is concerned with the fuzzy H∞ filter design issue for nonlinear systems with time-varying delay. To overcome the shortcomings of the conventional methods with matched preconditions, the fuzzy H∞ filter to be designed and the T-S fuzzy model are assumed to have different premise membership functions and number of rules, thus, greater design flexibility and robustness to uncertainty can be achieved. However, such design will also make the derived results conservative, to relax the result, a novel integral inequality which is tighter than the traditional inequalities derived from the Leibniz-Newton formula is applied, besides, a fuzzy Lypunov function and the information of the membership functions are also introduced. All the design methods are presented in LMI-based conditions. Finally, two numerical examples are given to prove the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed approach. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

Medical vision-language pretraining (VLP) that leverages naturally-paired medical image-report data is crucial for medical image analysis. However, existing methods struggle to accurately characterize associations between images and diseases, leading to inaccurate or incomplete diagnostic results. In this work, we propose MedFILIP, a fine-grained VLP model, introduces medical image-specific knowledge through contrastive learning, specifically: 1) An information extractor based on a large language model is proposed to decouple comprehensive disease details from reports, which excels in extracting disease deals through flexible prompt engineering, thereby effectively reducing text complexity while retaining rich information at a tiny cost. 2) A knowledge injector is proposed to construct relationships between categories and visual attributes, which help the model to make judgments based on image features, and fosters knowledge extrapolation to unfamiliar disease categories. 3) A semantic similarity matrix based on fine-grained annotations is proposed, providing smoother, information-richer labels, thus allowing fine-grained image-text alignment. 4) We validate MedFILIP on numerous datasets, e.g., RSNA-Pneumonia, NIH ChestX-ray14, VinBigData, and COVID-19. For single-label, multi-label, and fine-grained classification, our model achieves state-of-the-art performance, the classification accuracy has increased by a maximum of 6.69%. Data-driven model-free adaptive attitude control of partially constrained combined spacecraft with external disturbances and input saturation

This study presents an improved data-driven Model-Free Adaptive control(MFAC)strategy for attitude stabilization of a partially constrained combined spacecraft with external disturbances and input saturation. First, a novel dynamic linearization data model for the partially constrained combined spacecraft with external disturbances is established. The generalized disturbances composed of external disturbances and dynamic linearization errors are then reconstructed by a Discrete Extended State Observer(DESO). With the dynamic linearization data model and reconstructed information, a DESO-MFAC strategy for the combined spacecraft is proposed based only on input and output data. Next, the input saturation is overcome by introducing an antiwindup compensator. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed controller when the dynamic properties of the partially constrained combined spacecraft are completely unknown.

Real-time H∞ norm optimization of the linear time-invariant system

H∞ norm is widely adopted in control system design and its model-based computation is well-established. In these applications, the optimization of the H∞ norm follows an offline manner. However, the real-time optimization of the H∞ norm of a (stable) linear time-invariant system remains open, which is of considerable interest in the domains of performance optimization, fault-tolerant control, etc. Driven by this desire, as an alternative to the model-based offline solution of the H∞ control/optimization problem, this paper proposes a real-time H∞ norm optimization approach. It would be beneficial to the real-time reconfiguration of the controller/observer under the H∞ optimization framework. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd
