The paper proposes two dynamical systems based on the generalized Lotka-Volterra model of three excitable elements interacting through excitatory couplings. It is shown that for some values of the coupling parameters in the phase space of systems, there are heteroclinic cycles containing three or six saddle equilibrium states and heteroclinic curves connecting them. Under certain external stimuli that transfer the system from a stable zero equilibrium state to a small neighborhood of the heteroclinic cycle, the phase trajectory will alternately visit the neighborhood of saddle equilibrium states (possibly more than once), after which it will return to its initial state. The described behavior is proposed to be used to simulate switching activity in neural ensembles. Different transients are determined by different external stimuli. The passage of the phase point of the system near the saddle equilibrium states included in the heteroclinic circuit is proposed to be interpreted as activation of the corresponding element. © 2023, CC BY.

We present a robust, parallel primal-dual heuristic algorithm for the k-medoids clustering problem, a widely utilized method in data mining and machine learning. Our approach surpasses current algorithms by effectively addressing their limitations, such as time-consuming distance matrix calculations, inefficient nearest-neighbor searches, and difficulties in handling large-scale datasets. To overcome these challenges, we employ an efficient parallel implementation, combined with a pioneering subgradient search algorithm. We evaluate our algorithm on the BIRCH and Stanford Dog datasets and demonstrate its superiority over existing k-medoids clustering algorithms in terms of solution quality and run time. Additionally, we introduce a novel vectorization technique that enables our algorithm to handle various types of data, such as images, text, and point data. Overall, our work contributes to the field of data mining and machine learning by providing an efficient and effective solution for the k-medoids clustering problem. The proposed algorithm offers improved performance, and versatility, making it a valuable tool for a wide range of applications. © 2023 IEEE.

We study entanglement and multiphoton transitions in a system of coupled superconducting flux qubits under the action of an alternating drving field (the frequency of the external field is much higher than the frequency of qubit transitions). The positions of multiphoton transitions are found within the framework of the quasi-energy representation and the Floquet perturbation theory. It is shown that by tuning the external control field, it is possible to control the positions of the resonances and the measure of entanglement in the system. The influence of dissipation processes on multiphoton interference effects is studied. © 2021 IEEE.

The paper addresses the Network Roll-Out (NRO) problem aimed at scheduling the construction of mobile stations. In this case, NRO problem can be considered as a generalization of Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem, where we need to find a schedule for the activities related to the construction of a set of base stations taking into account the precedence constraints and the availability of resources while minimizing some measure of performance. The generalization involves the multiple projects, multi-modes, discrete time-cost tradeoff, together with particular business requirements like precedence redundancy and workload stability constraints. To solve this problem, we propose a MIP formulation that is based on a generalization of Disaggregated Discrete-Time formulation with pulse start variables. Using this formulation, we propose a three-stage heuristic based on a relax and fix strategy. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach are illustrated in a series of computational experiments on real-life problem instances. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The method for controlling a DC-DC converter is proposed to ensures the high quality control at large fluctuations in load currents by using differential gain control coefficients and second derivative control. Various implementations of balancing the currents of a multiphase DC-DC converter are discussed, with a focus on achieving accurate current regulation without introducing additional delay in the control system. Stochastic particle swarm optimization method is used to find optimal values of the PID controller parameters. The paper is devoted to the multiple covering problem by circles of two types. The number of circles of each class is given as well as a ratio radii. The circle covering problem is usually studied in the case when the distance between points is Euclidean. We assume that the distance is determined using some particular metric arising in logistics, which, generally speaking, is not Euclidean. The numerical algorithm is suggested and implemented. It based on an optical-geometric approach, which is developed by the authors in recent years and previously used only for circles of an equal radius. In this paper we address the so-called two-dimensional Multiple Strip Packing Problem (MSPP). There is a set of rectangles and a set of strips, where each strip has a pre-defined width. The problem is to find a feasible packing of all the rectangles into the strips so as the maximal height of the packing over all the strips is minimized. A packing is feasible if all the rectangles are placed into the strips and not overlapped. In case of only one strip, the problem is widely known as the Strip Packing Problem (SPP). Many effective constructive heuristics for SPP are based on the so-called skyline representation of a packing pattern. We generalized this approach for the case of multiple strips and developed a randomized local search, which embeds the proposed skyline heuristic to compute the objective value for a packing. We also introduced the two-dimensional level multiple strip packing problem and developed some level-based constructive heuristics. We report computational results on real-life problem instances arisen in an application of MSPP in scheduling computing jobs on multiple Spark computer clusters. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

We present detailed analysis of the T-even lepton angular distribution in the Drell-Yan process including γ/Z0 gauge boson exchange and using perturbative QCD based on the collinear factorization scheme at leading order in the αs expansion. We focus on the study of the transverse momentum QT dependence of the corresponding hadronic structure functions and angular coefficients up to next-to-next-to-leading order in the Q2T/Q2 expansion. We analyze QT dependence numerically and compare T-even angular coefficients integrated over rapidity with available data of the ATLAS Collaboration at LHC. Additionally, we present our results for the forward-backward asymmetry and compare it with data. © 2024, CC BY.
