Machine learning (ML) is revolutionizing research and industry. Many ML applications rely on the use of large amounts of personal data for training and inference. Among the most intimate exploited data sources is electroencephalogram (EEG) data, a kind of data that is so rich with information that application developers can easily gain knowledge beyond the professed scope from unprotected EEG signals, including passwords, ATM PINs, and other intimate data. The challenge we address is how to engage in meaningful ML with EEG data while protecting the privacy of users. Hence, we propose cryptographic protocols based on Secure Multiparty Computation (SMC) to perform linear regression over EEG signals from many users in a fully privacy-preserving (PP) fashion, i.e. such that each individual's EEG signals are not revealed to anyone else. To illustrate the potential of our secure framework, we show how it allows estimating the drowsiness of drivers from their EEG signals as would be possible in the unencrypted case, and at a very reasonable computational cost. Our solution is the first application of commodity-based SMC to EEG data, as well as the largest documented experiment of secret sharing based SMC in general, namely with 15 players involved in all the computations. Deep learning has made significant breakthroughs in the tasks of image classification, detection, segmentation, etc. However, the application of deep learning in robotics is still scarce. SLAM is a fundamental problem in robotics and loop closure detection is an important part of SLAM. This paper attempts to use supervised learning methods to solve the loop closure detection problem in vision SLAM. We proposed Siamese-ResNet network, which combines Siamese network with ResNet to detect loop closure. To show the effectiveness of Siamese-ResNet, we evaluate Siamese-ResNet and FabMap2.0 on several open published datasets, like TUM SLAM dataset and FabMap SLAM dataset. Compared with FabMap2.0, Siamese-ResNet shows higher accuracy, better robustness and shorter time-consuming. © 2018 IEEE.

Forest fires are serious disasters that endanger the safety and property of residents. To deal with the arson-caused forest fires, we use security game theory to generate optimal patrol strategy under limited patrolling resources. The existing security game algorithms focus on a single behavior model to prevent attacks, while our work is to incorporate the secondary damage caused by the attack behavior into the optimization object. For forest fires, the security game algorithm only expects to catch arsonists in the forest, which is unreasonable in our opinion. Our algorithm incorporates the spread of fires into patrolling path planning so that defenders avoid being swallowed by fire via capturing the spread of it.

Data-driven artificial intelligence technologies have made much progress in medical image analysis in the last decades. However, it still remains challenging due to its distinctive complexity of acquiring and annotating image data, extracting medical domain knowledge, and explaining the diagnostic decision for medical image analysis. In this paper, we propose a data-knowledge-driven framework termed as Parallel Medical Imaging (PMI) for intelligent medical image analysis based on the methodology of interactive ACP-based parallel intelligence. In the PMI framework, computational experiments with predictive learning in a data-driven way are conducted to extract medical knowledge for diagnostic decision support. Artificial imaging systems are introduced to select and prescriptively generate medical image data in a knowledge-driven way to utilize medical domain knowledge. Through the closed-loop optimization based on parallel execution, our proposed PMI framework can boost the generalization ability and alleviate the limitation of medical interpretation for diagnostic decisions. Furthermore, we illustrate the preliminary implementation of PMI method through the case studies of mammogram analysis and skin lesion image analysis. Synchronization of directed complex networks has been extensively studied in the previous two decades due to its potential applications in the real world practices. To reveal and analyze the inherent mechanism of global synchronization in the complex networks with directed topologies, this paper attempts to developing a novel synchronization approach by using algebraic connectivity and PI control protocols. First, we studied the distributed PI control for synchronization in directed strongly connected networks and obtained some sufficient conditions to guarantee the networks reach global ***, a numerical example is given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed theoretical results.

Increasing market requirements pose major challenges for semiconductor manufacturers. One major reason for this effect is for instance an increasing individualization of customer requirements, especially regarding the provision of more and more different functions on a single chip. A typical mature multi-product semiconductor manufacturer, which is on the "More than Moore" path within the logic business, produces several hundred different products in one fabrication facility, whereas the predictability of the production volumes per single product type decreases. Furthermore, the decreasing product life cycles lead to the necessity to continually introduce new products into the running production system [1].

Distributed coordination algorithms (DCA) carry out information processing processes among a group of networked agents without centralized information fusion. Though it is well known that DCA characterized by an SIA (stochastic, indecomposable, aperiodic) matrix generate consensus asymptotically via synchronous iterations, the dynamics of DCA with asynchronous iterations have not been studied extensively, especially when viewed as stochastic processes. This paper aims to show that for any given irreducible stochastic matrix, even non-SIA, the corresponding DCA lead to consensus successfully via random asynchronous iterations under a wide range of conditions on the transition probability. Particularly, the transition probability is neither required to be independent and identically distributed, nor characterized by a Markov chain. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.
