Artificial intelligence, which has resuscitated shrewd libraries, is one of the principal powers driving the improvement of present day civilisation. In this scientific article under consideration, a machine learning model has been developed that allows predicting the impact of filter parameters on the accuracy of measuring a biosignal - an ECG (electrocardiography) signal. For the first time, quantitative results have shown the degree of influence and the error introduced into the measured biosignal and described through dependence. The results of assessing the obtained relationship of indicators demonstrate an inverse correlation relationship that characterizes a decrease in the accuracy of measurement at the output of a high-order digital filtering system. The machine learning model is based on the linear regression method the dependence of which is approximated by the method based on least squares and visualized using a scattergram. The adequacy of the developed machine learning model was confirmed by calculating the coefficient of determination and checking its statistical significance. The developed model can be used to create new or improve existing biomedical data processing systems to increase the reliability of the results.

Aggressive Trajectory Generation for A Swarm of Autonomous Racing Drones

Autonomous drone racing is becoming an excellent platform to challenge quadrotors' autonomy techniques including planning, navigation and control technologies. However, most research on this topic mainly focuses on single drone scenarios. In this paper, we describe a novel time-optimal trajectory generation method for generating time-optimal trajectories for a swarm of quadrotors to fly through pre-defined waypoints with their maximum maneuverability without collision. We verify the method in the Gazebo simulations where a swarm of 5 quadrotors can fly through a complex 6-waypoint racing track in a 35m × 35m space with a top speed of 14m/s. Flight tests are performed on two quadrotors passing through 3 waypoints in a 4m × 2m flight arena to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method in the real world. Both simulations and real-world flight tests show that the proposed method can generate the optimal aggressive trajectories for a swarm of autonomous racing drones. The development of digital twins (DTs) of industrial electrical systems is attributed to the need for the reduction of time and material resource inputs during their virtual commissioning (VC). The same problem occurs during renovation with complete or partial equipment replacement and/or control systems. These problems can be efficiently solved by developing object-oriented DTs based on the Simulink Real Time software and using hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HIL). This software is compatible with Matlab Simulink and the Simscape package, which makes it suitable for the industrial usage. The authors suggest a HIL-based approach that helps make a virtual real-time computer model, with process control signals coming from the industrial PLC that controls the real physical object. This problem occurred during the renovation of the horizontal stand electric drives of a 5000 plate mill. The authors provide the flow charts of the electromechanical system and the object-oriented DT. The implementation of DT in Matlab Simulink Desktop Real Time is reviewed in laboratory settings. The authors present the block structures that make up a virtual model of the electromechanical system. The developed DT was used to adjust control algorithms and controllers and study the dynamic modes over a rolling cycle. The adequacy of the processes was tested by comparing the oscillograms obtained with the developed DT and the rolling mill. The authors stress the feasibility of developing DTs on the Simulink Real Time platform using HIL simulation during VC and renovation of complex industrial objects.

This report reviews an example of acoustic positioning of partial discharges (PD) in the tank of a high-voltage oil-filled transformer. The literature review confirms the importance of PD monitoring and justifies the feasibility of positioning discharge activity centers. The precise positioning of PD sources is required to determine the location of insulation defects. The authors provide brief information on the development of PD positioning methods and note that their practical application has been insufficiently covered in publications. They present the results of electromagnetic and acoustic PD positioning in a 110 kV transformer. Some details are provided on the devices and measurement methods used, including the localization of areas with increased PD intensity using one acoustic sensor and the subsequent center localization through the installation of 4 sensors at even intervals. The authors provide PD signals and defect impulses received from each of the sensors and demonstrate the difference in the registration time of these signals. They explain the principle behind PD center positioning, which is determined considering delays in signal reception. The authors demonstrate the usage of the Inva (Portable) software for the processing and visualization of acoustic positioning results. They note that changes in the propagation rate of acoustic waves in a heterogeneous medium result in the reduced accuracy of results. The authors also outline the prospects of the research into the elimination of occurring defects.

This paper introduces rear wheel traction based fully electrical vehicle lateral stability controller design with independently driven electric motors. The proposed controller consists of two stages: lower and upper controllers. The upper controller is the proportional-integral (PI) controller, which calculates the required corrective yaw moment based on the desired and actual yaw rate of the vehicle. The proposed PI controller design method relies on the parameter space approach (PSA) considering D-stability. The time domain and frequency domain requirements are visualized by contour plotting method on the proportional-integral gain parameter plane. This multi-objective visualization assists designers while selecting an appropriate PI controller gain pairs. The lower controller distributes tire forces based on the vehicle's actual and desired situation using a torque distribution algorithm. The double-track vehicle model is employed to validate the proposed control system under different driving scenarios in MATLAB/Simulink. The results show that by using only the traction forces generated independently on the rear wheels, the lateral control of the vehicle considering D-stability, settling time, overshoot, bandwidth, rise time, integral-time-absolute-error and phase margin criteria could be accurately achieved under beforehand defined driving conditions.

Visual inspection systems (VISs) are one of the key technologies needed for mass production in the manufacturing industry. Fast and accurate algorithms are required for quality control of large quantities of products. If the manufactured products change over time inspection of the products becomes a challenging task. In this paper, Split-Brain Convolutional Autoencoder approach to detect and localize defects without defective samples is proposed. Two disjointed Convolutional Autoencoder networks are employed to predict the subchannel of the image from another subchannel. The reconstruction residual maps generated from each subchannel are combined and then thresholded to produce the segmented out image patches as the ultimate result. This approach greatly alters the reconstruction abilities of Convolutional Autoencoders. Experimental results achieved using a challenging dataset have shown that this approach can achieve good defect detection and defective region segmentation results. © 2020 IEEE.

In this study, we investigated the validity of using a two-dimensional gait analysis system, which employed industrial cameras and a custom-developed Inertial Measurement Unit system, compared to the gold standard three-dimensional Vicon gait analysis system. Four subjects with a mean age of 26.76 (SD: 0.71) were included in the study, and gait data was collected from their 8 limbs. Correlation analyses examined the relationship between the data obtained from the two-dimensional gait analysis system and the three-dimensional Vicon system. The study’s results showed a high correlation for the hip and knee joints between the two systems, but a lower correlation for the ankle joint. This pilot study demonstrated the potential of using industrial cameras and IMU systems for practical gait analysis.

In this paper, the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is used for online training of a recurrent neural network (RNN) model since the EKF outperforms the first order gradient-based algorithms as a second order method. The modified Elman-Jordan Neural Network model with one hidden layer is adopted as the RNN structure. Self-connections are added in context units to investigate their effects. Then, this model is utilized for identification and online control of a nonlinear single input single output (SISO) process model. The performance of the proposed structure is evaluated by simulation results. The effects of some parameters and the number of hidden units to the performance are also examined. © 2020 IEEE.
