This paper introduces a fuzzy logic-based intelligent frequency control approach for renewable-dominated time-delayed interconnected power systems (IPS). A two-area IPS model including solar, wind, thermal and gas power generators with hydrogen-based energy storage systems is designed. A time delay (TD) of 2 seconds is considered in both areas as well as all the physical constraints and nonlinearities like valve limit, dead bands and rate constraints are also considered in the designing of the plant. A fuzzy logic-driven proportional derivative plus integral (F-PD+I) controller is designed for the load frequency control (LFC) of considered IPS. To select the optimal solution for the proposed F-PD+I controller, a physics-inspired optimization called gradient-based optimizer (GBO) is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is tested over random load variations and the results reveal the superior performance of the F-PD+I controller over PI and PID controllers.

Training of a Machine Learning model requires sufficient data. The sufficiency of the data is not always about the quantity, but about the relevancy and reduced redundancy. Data-generating processes create massive amounts of data. When used raw, such big data is causing much computational resource utilization. Instead of using the raw data, a proper Condensed Representation can be used instead. Combining K-means, a well-known clustering method, with some correction and refinement facilities a novel Condensed Representation method for Machine Learning applications is introduced. To present the novel method meaningfully and visually, synthetically generated data is employed. It has been shown that by using the condensed representation, instead of the raw data, acceptably accurate model training is possible. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the work, the structure of an interconnected electrotechnical complex of frequency-regulated electric drives of the mechanisms of grain-throwing machines is proposed to ensure effective overloading of grain with a reduction in its injury. The basic equations for determining the laws governing the grain flight trajectory are presented. The results of research on the influence of various parameters on the flight trajectory (thickness of the grain layer, presence of additional blowing) are given. The obtained results of the study allow us to state that additional blowing ensures a reduction in dispersion, depending on the type of grain and the speed of the conveyor belt of the grain thrower As a result, a regression model was obtained that allows taking into account the main parameters. The simulation results of the proposed electric fan drive system with scalar control with the control algorithm based on the PID structure, calculated according to the frequency criterion, are presented. A functional diagram of the electrical complex of the grain thrower is proposed. The practical application of the proposed system will reduce material damage from injury to the reloaded grain and improve the efficiency of the grain thrower. © 2022 IEEE.

The article presents the results of the study in the field of information and analytical modeling of territorial objects. The raw data used in the study was obtained using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Big Data technologies such as Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark were used for data storage and analysis. The Delaunay triangulation algorithm was used to construct the surface skeleton. Algorithm A* was implemented to find the shortest paths in the resulting graph.

The article analyzes modern computing devices that perform multiplication operations. The main classes of multipliers built on the basis of both electronic and optical elements are considered. The main disadvantage of these devices, which negatively affects their performance, is the inability to carry out parallel calculations with them. In turn, this disadvantage is due to the fact that multiplication of the multi-bit binary number in general is carried out by calculating the partial products of the bits of the multipliers and their addition with the inevitable implementation of a corresponding, usually very large, number of transfers. The presence of a large number of transfers fundamentally does not allow solving the problem of increasing the speed of calculations. The developed optical binary digital-to-analog multiplier is devoid of this drawback. This optical digital-to-analog multiplier is implemented on the basis of optical splitters, optical couplers and optical banners with a well-developed technology for their manufacture today, which provides a minimum delay time of the optical signal (in the picosecond range). The functional diagram of the proposed optical digital-to-analog multiplier is shown and the principle of its operation is described. The possibility of increasing the speed of this optical digital-to-analog multiplier to the potential for optical information processing circuits is shown.

The increased demand for active control of engines has made the study of high-frequency response actuators increasingly important, and actuators based on magnetostrictive materials are promising for a wide range of applications. In this paper, the magnetic field distribution and various thermal losses including Joule heat loss, eddy current loss and hysteresis loss inside the giant magnetostrictive actuator (GMA) are analyzed, and the mathematical model of the current-driven GMA operation is derived, where the new J-A model considering the temperature effect is used to describe the hysteresis nonlinearity of the material. This paper simulates the actuator model under the action of multiple physical fields in COMSOL, focusing on the variation of the output displacement of the actuator when the thermal field and thermal expansion are integrated, and provides the theoretical basis for the design of the GMA control algorithm in the future. © 2023 IEEE.

Informed Sampling-based Collision Avoidance with Least Deviation from the Nominal Path

This paper addresses local path re-planning for n-dimensional systems by introducing an informed sampling scheme and cost function to achieve collision avoidance with minimum deviation from an (optimal) nominal path. The proposed informed subset consists of the union of ellipsoids along the specified nominal path, such that the subset efficiently encapsulates all points along the nominal path. The cost function penalizes large deviations from the nominal path, thereby ensuring current safety in the face of potential collisions while retaining most of the overall efficiency of the nominal path. The proposed method is demonstrated on scenarios related to the navigation of autonomous marine crafts. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

The technology of reconfigurable optical networks (RONs) is growing to be a promising solution to effectively cater to the rapidly increasing traffic generated by the digital society. Optical technology emerges as a viable alternative because to its capacity to offer a substantial bandwidth, little latency, and enhanced overall performance. Nevertheless, it is imperative to effectively manage the physical resources comprising a data center. This study provides an experimental demonstration of the RONs, which is enhanced by a control plane. The implementation relies on the monitoring of real-time network statistics. This enables the execution of various activities, including as network slice provisioning and reconfiguration, assignment of packet priority classes, and dynamic operations. These actions are performed to ensure the attainment of the desired Quality of Service level. The experimental results show the successfully implementation of RONs using Mininet Emulator and sFlow traffic monitoring technology. The results approve that optical datacenter has minimum delay with low OSNR even with long distance and fast switching time.

In this paper, the tracking control problem for networked control system (NCS) under communication delays is investigated. In order to realize the tracking of the NCS, an event-triggered predictive control strategy is provided to compensate for the delays and achieve stability. Both tracking performance and input increments are considered in the proposed cost function. Based on the incremental inputs, an event-triggered mechanism is established to reduce the communication costs. The efforts of different parameters are illustrated through the results of the simulation, and the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is also validated from the application of the networked lighting setup.

In this paper, the coordinated control problem for a class of distributed networked multi-agent systems (NMASs) is studied. An event-triggered predictive coordinated control (ETPCC) scheme is proposed to compensate for the communication delay between controllers as well as to reduce the communication frequency. With the aim of reducing the frequency of data transfer among controllers and saving resources, a distributed event-triggered condition is designed to decide when to transfer information. Further, a cost function using predicted values is proposed to measure the cooperative performance among the agents, and the required control increment for each agent is obtained by minimizing the cost function. Simulation and experimental examples show that the proposed ETPCC strategy works effectively.
