In this paper, we tackle the problem of resource management in macro-femtocell networks. Dense dep.oyment of femtocells imposes several challenges for a cluster-based resource allocation. Some of those challenges are the trade-off between the level of offloaded traffic from macrocell and bandwidth allocated to femto-tier, the fair distribution of resources, and the mitigation of inter-cluster interference. To overcome these limitations, we propose a coalitional game to form clusters of femtocells that can reduce the resource allocation complexity. Stable clusters are formed based on the core model. Our proposal mainly consists of three components. Namely, a femtocell selection for public users, a coalitional game where cooperative femtocells are rewarded, and a Weighted Water Filling algorithm to allocate resources. Our solution is performed under a rewarding model, which is based on an ideal spectral efficiency and on an effective spectral efficiency. We compare the results of our rewarding model with a non-cooperative model, where femtocells work in closed access mode. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposal improves the femto-tier throughput and the satisfaction of femtocells subscribers.

The upcoming migration of satellite services to higher bands, namely the Ka- and Q-bands offers many advantages in terms of bandwidth, data rates and system capacity. However, it poses challenges as propagation effects introduced by the various atmospheric phenomena are particularly pronounced in these bands and can become a serious constraint in terms of system reliability and performance. This paper outlines the goals, organization and some first results of an ongoing large propagation campaign consortium formed across Europe under the supervision of the European Space Agency;the campaign, shall ultimately assist in the validation and development of channel models targeting these-bands. Finally, the consideration of diverse climatic conditions and elevation angles along with the evaluation of the frequency and spatio-temporal effects, shall support the development of Fading and Mitigation Techniques and their assessment using real data.

Because the number of tactical moving object is tens of thousands and the location information of them should be updated in real time while moving, it must be able to manage a large amount of the target data and management of the future target is also required through the predicted query. We have proposed to manage the tactical moving objects using TPR*-tree in our previous paper. There are various types of moving objects from fighter to navy vessel in the tactical system, the overlapped area between a MBR with the fighters and another MBR with vessel is much bigger. When inserting new target, this leads to degrades performance that all MBRs with overlapped area should be retrieved. For preventing increases in the overlapped area, we suggest a method to improve TPR*-tree performance with selective data distinction, especially fast data in this paper.

The validation of wireless communications research, whether it is focused on PHY, MAC or higher layers, can be done in several ways, each with its limitations. Simulations tend to be simplified. Equipping wireless labs requires funding and time. Remotely accessible testbeds present a good option to validate research. The existing testbeds have gone a long way in building the infrastructure for managing and operating themselves. Yet, there is still space to improve the administration of resources whether it is nodes, frequency spectrum or storage space. In this work, we present the Collaborative Radio Cloud (CRC), a wireless testbed that enables web/remote access to facilitate research experiments in the field of wireless communications and networks. CRC is built upon the contributions made by current testbeds and incorporates new features to improve the user experience and ameliorate the management of resources. It enables multiple simultaneous users to coexist in the testbed by enforcing an elaborate node isolation policy. Software dedicated to the enforcement of spectrum assignment was developed to further ensure the isolation between concurrent users. A tool that is capable of realizing a desired topology using gain control was developed. CRC also operates a scheduler that optimizes node assignment to maximize testbed utilization. Enhancements to disk image saving are being developed to reduce the required storage. Other than research, CRC targets contributing to the education of wireless communications and networks by providing experiments and a web interface dedicated to students and instructors. © 2016 ACM.

A smart environment system should automatically control the devices according to the sensing information and users' requirements so as to keep the environmental elements (e.g., temperature, light) within the desired range. System control with minimum power is one key issue in such a system. In this paper, we propose a multi-dimension model for system control. In this model, each environmental element is abstracted into a dimension, such that a service with conditions and targets can be formulated as a multi-dimensional service space, and a smart environment with many services may map to a comprehensive multi-dimensional service space through space computation. Based on this model, we propose a minimum power adjustment algorithm for energy-efficient scheduling in smart environment, which transforms the optimal control problem into the problem of the shortest weighted distance of point-to-polygonal in multi-dimensional space. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the proposed model is effective and efficient in energy-efficient system control. It is important to point out that the proposed algorithms are scalable when the number of dimensions or services increases.

This paper presents a new robust fuzzy control of energy management strategy for the stand-alone hybrid power systems. It consists of two levels named centralized fuzzy supervisory control which generates the power references for each decentralized robust fuzzy control. Hybrid power systems comprises: a photovoltaic panel and wind turbine as renewable sources, a micro turbine generator and a battery storage system. The proposed control strategy is able to satisfy the load requirements based on a fuzzy supervisor controller and manage power flows between the different energy sources and the storage unit by respecting the state of charge and the variation of wind speed and irradiance. Centralized controller is designed based on If-Then fuzzy rules to manage and optimize the hybrid power system production by generating the reference power for photovoltaic panel and wind turbine. Decentralized controller is based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model and permits us to stabilize each photovoltaic panel and wind turbine in presence of disturbances and parametric uncertainties and to optimize the tracking reference which is given by the centralized controller level. The sufficient conditions stability are formulated in the format of linear matrix inequalities using the Lyapunov stability theory. The effectiveness of the proposed Strategy is finally demonstrated through a SAHPS (stand-alone hybrid power systems) to illustrate the effectiveness of the overall proposed method.

Safety or mission critical systems are those where failures should be avoided at all costs. engineering processes, techniques and tools are, however, not perfect, and lead to software and systems with flaws. This paper presents an analysis of the impact of late found issues versus the fault types for critical aerospace systems. These issues are the indep.ndently detected faults that remain once the engineering processes that are required by European space standards have been applied and the engineering teams have performed their verification and validation activities. This study presents the analysis of the fault impact versus fault type distribution according to the detection phases and to the issues severity/type and presents recommendations to improve space systems engineering.

This paper addresses the problem of fault detection in the context of a collection of agents performing a shared task and exchanging relative information over a communication network. A techniques in the literature is used to construct a meaningful observable system equivalent to the original unobservable system of systems. A solution involving Set-Valued Observers (SVOs) and a left-coprime factorization of the system is proposed to estimate the state in a distributed fashion and a proof of convergence of the estimates is given under mild assumptions. The performance of the detection algorithm against deterministic and stochastic faults;and when the system is subject to unmodeled disturbances is assessed through simulations. © 2015

Aging is the process of changing the status of human body which human face shows the most important changes. One of the most challenges of age estimation methods is feature extraction which the feature extraction method is failed to extract full informative feature vector elements in the case of deformation, scaling,... in image. So, a feature extractor which is robust against to the situations is necessary. This paper proposes a new method of age estimation where Pseudo Zernike Moment (PZM). The task of age prediction in the proposed method is performed using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with the type of Multi-Layer Perceptron. The proposed method is evaluated on FG-NET dataset and the results prove the ability of the proposed method.

Most of the object contour detection approaches suffers from some drawbacks such as noise, occlusion of objects, shifting, scaling and rotation of objects in image which they are failed to recognize object contour. A solution to solve the problem is utilization of feature extractor which is indep.ndent of rotation, scaling, transformation and etc. One of the best options for the task of feature extraction is Pseudo Zernike Moment (PZM) which is able to extract feature vector in all situations. In this paper, a new method of facial age estimation is proposed which includes three steps: object region detection, feature extraction and contour detection. The first step employs Line Detection with Contours (LDC) in order to find the object region based on the connected components inside the image. In the second step, PZM is applied on the previously detected object regions to extract feature vector. At the final stage, Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) model is employed to extract final object contour based on the PZM-based feature vector. Experimental results on Caltech-101 dataset shows that classification rate is improved to 98.47 which proves the ability of the proposed method.
