Black-box AI models tend to be more accurate but less transparent and scrutable than white-box models. This poses a limitation for recommender systems that rely on black-box models, such as Matrix Factorization (MF). Explainable Matrix Factorization (EMF) models are "explainable" extensions of Matrix Factorization, a state of the art technique widely used due to its flexibility in learning from sparse data and accuracy. EMF can incorporate explanations derived, by design, from user or item neighborhood graphs, among others, into the model training process, thereby making their recommendations explainable. So far, an EMF model can learn a model that produces only one explanation style, and this in turn limits the number of recommendations with computable explanation scores. In this paper, we propose a framework for EMFs with multiple styles of explanation, based on ratings and tags, by incorporating EMF algorithms that use scores derived from tag-centric graphs to connect rating neighborhood-based EMF techniques to tag-based explanations. We used precalculated explainability scores that have been previously validated in user studies that evaluated user satisfaction with each style individually. Our evaluation experiments show that our proposed methods provide accurate recommendations while providing multiple explanation styles, without sacrificing the accuracy of the recommendations. STGNN: a new self-trained generalized neural networks task space control for robot manipulators

The inherent uncertainties in the dynamic and kinematic parameters of robot manipulators pose significant challenges for their control in task space. This paper introduces an innovative adaptive sliding mode control strategy, leveraging self-trained generalized neural networks to enhance the precision and robustness of robot manipulator control. The proposed framework called STGNN integrates deep neural networks for the real-time estimation and adjustment of dynamics’ and kinematics’ parameters. Key contributions of this work include the development of semi-supervised learning models for adaptive dynamics and kinematics estimation. By training the generalized neural network on different trajectories, the same models can be utilized to operate on a variety of tasks, significantly improving the robustness, scalability, and adaptability of the control system. The STGNN approach allows the models to leverage both labeled and unlabeled data, incorporating a self-training mechanism that enhances their ability to generalize and adapt to diverse operational scenarios. This capability is particularly beneficial for real-time applications, where the ability to learn and adapt on the fly is crucial. Simulation results demonstrate the superior performance of the STGNN framework in controlling robot manipulators in operational space, showcasing its potential for real-world applications. The advancements made in Internet of Things(IoT)is projected to alter the functioning of healthcare industry in addition to increased penetration of different ***,data security and private are challenging tasks to accomplish in IoT and necessary measures to be taken to ensure secure *** this background,the current paper proposes a novel lightweight cryptography method for enhance the security in *** proposed encryption algorithm is a blend of Cross Correlation Coefficient(CCC)and Black Widow Optimization(BWO)*** the presented encryption technique,CCC operation is utilized to optimize the encryption process of cryptography *** projected encryption algorithm works in line with encryption and decryption *** key selection is performed with the help of Artificial Intelligence(AI)tool named BWO *** the combination of AI technique and CCC operation,optimal security operation is improved in *** different sets of images collected from databases,the projected technique was validated in MATLAB on the basis of few performance metrics such as encryption time,decryption time,Peak Signal to Noise Ratio(PSNR),CC,Error,encryption time and decryption *** results were compared with existing methods such as Elliptical Curve cryptography(ECC)and Rivest-Shamir-Adleman(RSA)and the supremacy of the projected method is established.

PIVODL: Privacy-Preserving Vertical Federated Learning Over Distributed Labels

Federated learning (FL) is an emerging privacy preserving machine learning protocol that allows multiple devices to collaboratively train a shared global model without revealing their private local data. Nonparametric models like gradient boosting decision trees (GBDTs) have been commonly used in FL for vertically partitioned data. However, all these studies assume that all the data labels are stored on only one client, which may be unrealistic for real-world applications. Therefore, in this article, we propose a secure vertical FL framework, named privacy-preserving vertical federated learning system over distributed labels (PIVODL), to train GBDTs with data labels distributed on multiple devices. Both homomorphic encryption and differential privacy are adopted to prevent label information from being leaked through transmitted gradients and leaf values. Our experimental results show that both information leakage and model performance degradation of the proposed PIVODL are negligible. Impact Statement - Federated learning is a distributed machine learning framework proposed for privacy preservation. Most federated learning algorithms work on horizontally partitioned data, with only a few exceptions considering vertically partitioned data that is widely seen in the real world. However, existing vertical federated learning makes an unrealistic assumption that data labels are distributed on only one device and no research has been reported so far that considers data labels distributed on multiple client devices. The PIVODL framework reported in this article allows us to build a secure vertical federated XGBoost system, in which the labels may distributed either on one device or on multiple devices, making it possible to apply federated learning to a wider range of real-world problems. © 2020 IEEE.

Cardiac diseases are one of the greatest global health *** to the high annual mortality rates,cardiac diseases have attracted the attention of numerous researchers in recent *** article proposes a hybrid fuzzy fusion classification model for cardiac arrhythmia *** fusion model is utilized to optimally select the highest-ranked features generated by a variety of well-known feature-selection *** ensemble of classifiers is then applied to the fusion’s *** proposed model classifies the arrhythmia dataset from the University of California,Irvine into normal/abnormal classes as well as 16 classes of ***,at the preprocessing steps,for the miss-valued attributes,we used the average value in the linear attributes group by the same class and the most frequent value for nominal ***,in order to ensure the model optimality,we eliminated all attributes which have zero or constant values that might bias the results of utilized *** preprocessing step led to 161 out of 279 attributes(features).Thereafter,a fuzzy-based feature-selection fusion method is applied to fuse high-ranked features obtained from different heuristic feature-selection *** short,our study comprises three main blocks:(1)sensing data and preprocessing;(2)feature queuing,selection,and extraction;and(3)the predictive *** proposed method improves classification performance in terms of accuracy,F1measure,recall,and precision when compared to state-of-the-art *** achieves 98.5%accuracy for binary class mode and 98.9%accuracy for categorized class mode.

Micro-expression recognition (MER) is a critical task in affective computing, yet it remains challenging due to the subtle, brief, and involuntary nature of micro-expressions. Existing methods often find it difficult to spot these quick micro facial expressions (MFEs), especially when there are obstacles, background noise, or differences between people. In this study, we propose a novel approach that integrates the Broadbent Attention Mechanism into a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to enhance MER. This attention mechanism is designed to focus on the most informative regions of facial images, improving the model's ability to extract relevant features and discard irrelevant information. The model is evaluated on the SAMM dataset, covering various emotions. Extensive experiments are conducted using both K-fold and Stratified K-fold cross-validation techniques to ensure a robust evaluation process. The proposed method achieves high accuracy 99.72%, precision 99.73%, Recall 99.72% and f1-Score 99.72% with Stratified K-fold & accuracy 99.65%, precision 99.65%, Recall 99.66% and f'1-Score 99.65% with K-fold, outperforming baseline models and demonstrating its effectiveness in recognizing subtle micro-expressions. These results indicate that the Broadbent Attention Mechanism significantly enhances accuracy and robustness of MER systems, offering a promising solution for applications in human-computer interaction (HCI) and emotion analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

Wind speed (WS) has played a vital role in local urban and sub-urban weather, agriculture, and ecosystem. Several meteorological parameters are influencing WS such as relative humidity (at 2 m, %), surface pressure (kPa), maximum temperature (at 2 m, °C), minimum temperature (at 2 m, °C), average temperature (at 2 m, °C), and all sky insolation incident on a horizontal surface (kW-h/m2/day). The current research was conducted to predict WS at different locations at Vietnam using the feasibility of computer aid models (i.e., multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) and random forest generator (Ranger)). Pearson correlation (PC) was investigated to select the high significant predictors to predict the WS at 10 m high. All inputs (maximum number, 6) are chosen by the PC approach for PhuongNinh, DaNang, and HaNoi;and for minimum number of inputs i.e four, are selected for PhuongHung, CanTho, and SaPa city;that exhibit the relationship with WS, citywise. The sequence selection of input parameters differed in each station as per the PC analysis. Based on the statistical evaluation and graphical presentation, MARS model attained the best prediction results, followed by XGBoost and Ranger. Artificial Intelligence(AI)is finding increasing application in healthcare *** learning systems are utilized for monitoring patient health through the use of IoT sensor,which keep track of the physiological state by way of various health ***,early detection of any disease or derangement can aid doctors in saving patients’***,there are some challenges associated with predicting health status using the common algorithms,such as time requirements,chances of errors,and improper *** propose an Artificial Krill Herd based on the Random Forest(AKHRF)technique for monitoring patients’health and eliciting an optimal prescription based on their health *** begin with,various patient datasets were collected and trained into the system using IoT *** a result,the framework developed includes four processes:preprocessing,feature extraction,classification,and result ***,preprocessing removes errors,noise,and missing values from the dataset,whereas feature extraction extracts the relevant ***,in the classification layer,we updated the fitness function of the krill herd to classify the patient’s health status and also generate a *** found that the results fromthe proposed framework are comparable to the results from other state-of-the-art techniques in terms of sensitivity,specificity,Area under the Curve(AUC),accuracy,precision,recall,and F-measure.
