Humanoid robots have potential applications across diverse sectors, including education, healthcare, and customer service. This paper presents a project on designing and building a low-cost humanoid robot equipped with a flex sensor-based movement mechanism, highlighting its compatibility with Raspberry Pi and microcontrollers such as Arduino Uno and Nano. The project aims to investigate the robot's relevance and effectiveness within educational settings to showcase how a low-cost humanoid robot can potentially support the United Nations' fourth Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG4) by improving access to quality education through innovative robotics solutions. The robot was tested in a cycle two school (covering Grades 5 to 8 (ages 10 to 13)) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was integrated into math, science, and design technology classes to assess its functionality and efficiency. Surveys conducted among students and teachers showed a high level of acceptance towards the robot, with over 85% of respondents expressing positive attitudes about its presence and interaction in the classroom. However, teachers and students provided feedback concerning the robot's shape, capabilities, and movement mechanism. Teachers also appreciated the robot's alignment with the UN SDG4, stating its capability to support students learning and engagement. The authors highlighted the robot's potential to assist students with sensory challenges, such as hearing and vision impairments, and learning difficulties like dyslexia while emphasizing their commitment to enhancing its accessibility features for a more inclusive learning environment.

Monkeypox, a rare but potentially fatal viral disease, poses a significant public health challenge due to its potential for outbreaks and complications. Detecting monkeypox lesions early and accurately is vital to effectively manage and control the disease. This study introduces a novel method for classifying monkeypox lesions, employing data augmentation methods and a framework based on an ensemble of three transfer learning models called "SkinMarkNet". The dataset used in this research consists of skin lesion images collected from the Kaggle data repository, encompassing diverse demographics and lesion characteristics. This research uses image data augmentation techniques to tackle the scarcity of annotated data. This augmentation enriches the training dataset, thereby improving the model’s ability to perform effectively. Moreover, the novelty of this research work lies in the usage of three popular transfer learning models(Inception, Xception, and ResNet) for feature extraction and ensemble learning. The SkinMarkNet achieves promising results showing an accuracy of 90.615% for monkeypox lesion classification, outperforming traditional machine learning and deep learning methods utilized in recent research works. In addition, thorough comparative analysis is done with machine learning models and contemporary approaches to validate the efficacy of the proposed method. Overall, the findings underscore the potential of leveraging advanced deep learning architectures and data augmentation strategies for improving monkeypox lesion classification, thereby facilitating early diagnosis and intervention in clinical settings and public health surveillance efforts. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Smart agriculture is an emerging innovative sector that harnesses technological advancements like sensor monitoring, image processing, soil quality evaluation, and automated water systems, all of which contribute towards enhanced crop yields and superior quality of produce. With the progression towards automated systems in smart agriculture, the need for a robust data infrastructure that assures data integrity is critical. This demands an integrated approach with anomaly detection algorithms and a robust classification technique to ensure an error-free data pipeline. This study employs two distinct datasets to achieve abnormal image classification using a vision transformer (ViT) and a convolutional neural network (CNN). The primary dataset, obtained through direct collection from cotton fields in Karachi and Balochistan, Pakistan, comprises high-resolution agricultural images captured using specialised cameras and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The secondary dataset was sourced from a publicly available database. The two classification models, ViT and CNN, were applied to both datasets. These supervised models are primarily used to classify images as normal or abnormal. The results of the two classification models were also compared, with the ViT model surpassing the CNN model in performance and achieving the highest accuracy on both datasets. The Vision Transformer model proved to be robust for supervised data, showing remarkable accuracy of 96.00% on the public dataset, 99.18% on both camera based images and 97.56% on UAV images of collected dataset as compared to the CNN model's accuracy that are 82.00% on the public dataset and 98.36% on camera and 95.12% on UAV images of collected dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper a simple capacitive sensor for displacement/force measuring is presented. Additive 3D printing technology was used to make the sensor housing and electrodes, while silicone rubber was used for the dielectric layer to ensure good sensitivity to the applied force. Three different patterns of dielectric layers were investigated. During experimental measurements, a change in capacitance was observed depending on the performed displacement in the range of 0.5 mm with 0.1 mm increments. The measured capacitance values and characteristics for all three types of sensors were compared. © 2022 IEEE.

Emotions are an omnipresent and important factor in the interaction and communication between people. Since emotions are an indispensable part of human life, it would accelerate the progress of artificial intelligence and other fields of science that require data about emotions if they could be adequately described by computer systems. Today there are many different theories of affect, but few of them are used in affective computing. Other areas of computing also benefit from structured and expressive data models of the affective domain, such as human-computer interaction and brain-computer interfaces. Typical tasks include automated recognition and analysis of emotional states, mental fatigue, individual motivation, vigilance and stress resilience. In this paper four often used models of emotion and cognitive behavior are listed and their properties explained: discrete, dimensional, appraisal and action tendency models. For each model, algorithms are provided for similarity measures that can be used to determine the relatedness between different stimulation and estimation artefacts in their respective emotion spaces. The goal of this article is to help professionals find the optimal emotion model for their research and quickly become familiar with data modelling of affective states. © 2022 Croatian Society MIPRO.

Tracking a person with an onboard camera is a very difficult and perhaps technically impossible if one camera is used. In this regard, real-life projects use a series of cameras to achieve the task. The advent of camera installed drone technology has made it possible for researchers and designers to resolve the tracking issues of a single or multiple stagnant devices. This paper presents a method that makes it possible for a drone to recognize hand gestures as control mechanism and follow the person who control it. Furthermore, the method assists in drone object detection using an integrated depth camera that provides video capturing. The OpenCV and Tello were used in this project. A stabilized depth video is for use with current person trackers like the OpenCV tracker. The estimated Tello pose deduced from vision to stabilize the depth image by warping it to a virtual-static camera. This method allows the Tello to obtain not only the tracked person's position and orientation but also their full body pose, which can then be used, for instance, to recognize hand gestures and alter the Tello's behavior. This work has a potential of contributing or enhancing cutting-edge applications such as hands-free photography and videography. © 2024 IEEE.

Induction motors are used in all industries and are the major element of energy consumption. Faults in motor degrade the motor efficiency and result in more energy consumption. Bearing faults are reported to be the major reason for the motor breakdown and a lot of papers have been reported to focus on bearing fault diagnostics. However, low classification accuracy is the main hurdle in adopting the available fault classification algorithms. This paper has presented a novel classification algorithm using the Catboost classifier and time-domain features. The developed algorithm was tested on the laboratory test setup. A vehicle engine cooling system is of utmost importance to ensure that the engine operates in a safe temperature *** most radiators that are used to cool an engine,water serves as a cooling *** performance of a radiator in terms of heat transmission is significantly influenced by the incorporation of nanoparticles into the cooling *** and uniformity of nanoparticle distribution are the two major factors for the practical use of *** shape and size of nanoparticles also have a great impact on the performance of heat *** researchers are investigating the impact of nanoparticles on heat *** study aims to develop an artificial neural network(ANN)model for predicting the thermal conductivity of an ethylene glycol(EG)/waterbased crystalline nanocellulose(CNC)nanofluid for cooling internal combustion *** implementation of an artificial neural network considering different activation functions in the hidden layer is made to find the bestmodel for the cooling of an engine using the *** of the model with different activation functions in artificial neural networks are analyzed for different nanofluid concentrations and *** artificial neural networks,Levenberg–Marquardt is an optimization approach used with activation functions,including Tansig and Logsig functions in the training *** findings of each training,testing,and validation phase are presented to demonstrate the network that provides the highest level of *** best result was obtained with Tansig,which has a correlation of 0.99903 and an error of 3.7959×10^(–8).It has also been noticed that the Logsig function can also be a good model due to its correlation of 0.99890 and an error of 4.9218×10^(–8).Thus ourANNwith Tansig and Logsig functions demonstrates a high correlation between the actual output and the predicted output.

Blockchain is a distributed database technology developed because of cryptocurrency, which has the characteristics of open and transparent ledger data. However, attackers will analyze ledger data to obtain sensitive information, threatening transaction privacy of users. Cryptography is the underlying technology of the blockchain to ensure the integrity and legitimacy of transactions in the blockchain. Providing privacy protection for the blockchain by studying cryptography has become a research hotspot in the blockchain. This paper introduces the cryptography technology in the blockchain, summarizes the privacy protection problems existing in the current blockchain, and expounds the existing cryptography solutions and the advantages and disadvantages of each scheme. Finally, the future research directions of cryptography in blockchain are summarized and prospected. © 2023 IEEE.
