Optimal coordination of directional overcurrent relays in power energy systems with emphasis on the discreteness of variables: Comprehensive comparisons

The challenge related to the coordination of overcurrent relays in a looped network, which is a highly constrained problem, is to find a more optimum solution and at the same time there is no miscoordination. In this problem, the utilized optimization algorithm has a direct effect on finding a more optimal solution. High exploration particle swarm optimization (HEPSO) algorithm, which utilizes multi-crossover mechanism of the genetic algorithm and the bee colony mechanism to increase the exploration capability, has been selected to solve the coordination problem. To validate the HEPSO algorithm, a new algorithm called turbulent flow of water-based optimization (TFWO) is also used, and their results are compared. A new approach to discretization of variables is presented, which prevents miscoordination in the relays coordination. It is a realistic assumption for all relay types, especially digital relays, in preventing miscoordination. Also, the outage of sub-transmission transformers is considered for determining pickup current, which is a practical aspect of power systems operation. The obtained results are compared with the results of other algorithms and methods such as metaheuristic, mathematical and analytical, and hybrid methods. The efficiency of the selected algorithm is proven through comprehensive comparisons. The results show more optimum solutions while there is no miscoordination. Finally, the performance of the selected algorithm and the proposed approaches are tested on IEEE 14 and 30-bus test systems. Since these test systems are large enough, the number of problem variables will increase significantly, effectively validating the power and robustness of the selected algorithm to tackle this complex and constrained problem. The rapid development of social networks has made much user-generated data accessible for public evaluation. These data can be used for multiple purposes, such as textual analysis of comments and reviews. This article employs a variant of the bidirectional encoder representations from Transformer (BERT) model designed explicitly for Bahasa Indonesia (called IndoBERT model) to enhance the performance of the Indonesian natural language understanding benchmark in tasks, such as sentiment analysis and emotion classification. The two tasks were tested using a hybrid method, combining the IndoBERT model's last hidden layer summation with a neural network model. The performance of the resulting model was assessed using the F1-score metric. The experimental results show that the proposed model attains an accuracy of 0.92 and 0.76 for sentiment analysis and emotion classification, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

In the current study, tin (Sn) whisker growth was observed on the surface of the SAC0307-SiC composite solder joint. A commercial SAC0307 solder alloys were reinforced with SiC nanophases to produce composite solder joints. SiC nanoparticles and nanowires were mixed with SAC0307 solder paste using the ball milling method. The solder paste was deposited by stencil printing on the test PCBs, and 0805 chip resistors were soldered by IR reflow method. The solder joints facilitated the growth of the Sn whisker through accelerated lifetime tests. The samples were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) every 1000 hours of the test. On the SiC composite solder joints, Sn whiskers and large corrosion spots were observed after 1000 hours of the THB test. In the case of SAC0307 reference samples, only minor corrosion signs were found after 1000 hours of the THB test. The main finding was that the addition of SiC nanophases promoted Sn whisker growth and decreased the corrosion resistance of the composite solder. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we address the problem of secure distributed computation in scenarios where user data is not uniformly distributed, extending existing frameworks that assume uniformity, an assumption that is challenging to enforce in data for computation. Motivated by the pervasive reliance on single service providers for data storage and computation, we propose a privacy-preserving scheme that achieves information-theoretic security guarantees for computing polynomials over non-uniform data distributions. Our framework builds upon the concept of perfect subset privacy and employs linear hashing techniques to transform non-uniform data into approximately uniform distributions, enabling robust and secure computation. We derive leakage bounds and demonstrate that information leakage of any subset of user data to untrusted service providers, i.e., not only to colluding workers but also (and more importantly) to the admin, remains negligible under the proposed scheme. © 2025, CC BY.

Fake news in social media platforms is a critical issue and it is necessary to detect such news. In this paper, we describe the system submitted to the UrduFake@FIRE2021. The aim of this shared task is to detect fake news in Urdu language. Machine learning approach has been used to build our model. A linear classifier using Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) optimization algorithm has been used to develop our system. The proposed model achieved F1-score of 67.9% and secured first rank over all submissions for different teams. © 2021 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is an acute viral infectious disease caused by the dengue virus. Transmitted through the bite of Aedes Mosquitoes and divided into 4 severity. Severity 1 and 2 are characterized by a decrease in platelet levels below normal and there is a change in hemoconcentration, while Severity 3 and 4 are included in Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS). The purpose of the study was to classify the severity of dengue, based on age, gender, platelets, body temperature, bleeding, and also doctor's recommendation. The advancement of information technology is the reason for the development of medical science, especially with artificial intelligence. Abundant medical data becomes a source that can be processed in improving the quality of medical information. The method chosen is Random Forest, kNN, Decision Tree and Naïve Bayes. The dataset used is the medical records of all DHF patients for 30 months in the period Jan 2019 to June 2021, at the Nadhifa Al Ghiffari Clinic in Bojongsoang District, Bandung Regency. © 2022 IEEE.

Voice synthesizers still present several challenges in the speech of mathematical content, as spoken mathematics has quite peculiar rules. In the synthesized speech, pauses help blind and visually impaired students identify the limits of mathematical operators and subexpressions. However, most studies on pauses define them uniformly or use simple punctuation marks to force the synthesizer to introduce pauses in certain parts of the expression. Speech is a dynamic process and pauses in expressions also need to be dynamic to make the synthetic speech of expressions more natural, as this can help in memorizing this type of content. This work proposed a dynamic model of pauses for mathematical expressions. Collected math expressions spoken by teachers were used to create the model. These expressions were useful for identifying patterns and creating a linear regression model. Blind and visually impaired students evaluated the model. Some improvements were observed when we compared the synthesized mathematical expressions with the model and Audiomath, the parameter tool used in this study.

This paper focuses on two key aspects: region-of-interest beamforming and optimal sparse circular sector array design. The aim is to address the problem of the unknown direction of arrival within a given region of interest while optimizing the array geometry layout and beamformer taps. This is done while meeting the maximum broadband array directivity criterion. To ensure that the desired signal is not distorted, we apply appropriate optimization constraints while maintaining a sufficiently high white noise gain. Our proposed approach outperforms a recently suggested approach in terms of the directivity factor, especially when the direction of arrival of the desired source significantly deviates from its nominal value.

As millimeter-wave (mmWave) signals suffer from high path loss and blocking, passive metasurface reflectors that can be fabricated with conventional PCB manufacturing become a promising cost-effective candidate for enhancing mmWave mobile service coverage. In this work, we show how PCB fabrication geometrical precision affects the performance of passive reflectors that are used in 5G and beyond mmWave networks. With the broad beamwidth of PCB-based metasurfaces, the dimension tolerance of PCB manufacturing can be traded off between cost benefits and key communications performance. From our numerical results based on full-wave simulations, the received power at the design anomalous angle is not significantly affected by the geometrical precision while high errors can cause higher interference at specular and mirror angles. However, the fabrication error in unit cell shape rotation does not influence the received power at the design anomalous, specular and mirror angles. © 2023 IEEE.

Signal prediction of time-domain (TD) ground-penetrating radar (GPR) installed on drone by employing the ray-tracing technique is proposed. This work employs the TD uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD) method including the geometrical optic (GO) rays tracing technique to find the GPR reflected signal from the ground layer and the underground object. Moreover, the diffracted ray path of a monostatic GPR is also calculated. The fast Fourier transforms (FFT) method is employed to find the TD-GPR signal. Three-dimensional (3D) locations of a drone are taken into account. The calculated results found that the proposed procedure can be used to predict the GPR mounted on a drone signal. The reflected GPR signal of the ground is very strong. The reflected GPR signal of an underground object can be calculated. However, the signal strength is very weak. In future work, the study of the position error of a drone trajectory will be presented. © 2021 IEEE.
