This paper proposes an Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) Seizure Detection Algorithm that uses smartphone acceleration sensors to detect early seizures. The propose algorithm used based on MATLAB Mobile, which seamlessly accesses MATLAB capabilities and uses MATLAB Drive for cloud-based data storage and analysis. Time-domain and frequency-domain analysis turn acceleration impulses into meaningful feature vectors. Then, machine learning classifiers like SVMs or deep learning models are used to train the system on a seizure and non-seizure dataset. The algorithm is calibrated to distinguish s suraabdlattif@*** eizure occurrences from regular activity. The IoMT technique uses real-time streaming to send sensor data to the cloud-based MATLAB Drive for continuous monitoring. The MATLAB Mobile app allows smartphone users to remotely monitor seizure activity using the seizure detection algorithm. The proposed IoMT Seizure Detection Algorithm is tested utilizing a broad dataset of seizure episodes and physical activities. Accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and the ROC curve are evaluated. The algorithm’s robustness and effectiveness in detecting seizure occurrences highlight its potential as a noninvasive, cost-effective early seizure detection system. MATLAB Mobile and MATLAB Drive integration shows that IoMT-based healthcare solutions implemented in real-world circumstances, improving patient care and medical insights. The auto-correlation between the patient’s motion and the [] data helped clinicians decide if the patient’s motion was typical or not. Up to 85% consistency was found while using our proposed method for detecting epilepsy.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of modern education, Science, Technology, engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines stand out for their role in equipping students with the skills necessary to address complex real-world problems. Despite the critical importance of STEM careers, disparities persist, particularly among young women and students from public schools. This motivated the creation of an IoT bootcamp - referred to as PyTime IoT, a 2-day course aimed at high school students. This bootcamp integrates hands-on activities in Python programming and IoT systems that demonstrate the tangible application of theoretical STEM concepts through real-world scenarios. Our approach enhances participants' understanding of IoT and programming and also serves as a stepping-stone for high school students contemplating STEM careers. Preliminary results from the first two bootcamp editions indicate a positive shift in participants' skills and a marked increase in STEM career interest, suggesting that targeted bootcamps like PyTime IoT are effective in bridging the educational gap and inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals.

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are being widely adopted as a green alternative to fossil-based vehicles. However, the current charging infrastructure for EVs is inadequate to meet the growing charge demand. Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging offers a promising solution that enables a charge supplier EV to provide charging services to a charge demander EV in a distributed manner. Nevertheless, V2V matching and charge scheduling can disclose sensitive location information about the drivers, such as their whereabouts and driving patterns. In this paper, we propose a privacy-preserving scheme for centralized optimal matching of demander EVs with supplier EVs, while protecting their sensitive information. In our scheme, charge demanders report to a matching server their encrypted location information and the requested energy quantities, whereas charge suppliers report encrypted charge costs such that the matching server can learn only the cost to match each demander to each supplier without revealing any location information or the exchanged charge amount. Then, the Hungarian algorithm is used to match demanders to suppliers while minimizing the total cost. The security analysis and simulation results show that our scheme can achieve optimal V2V matching while preserving drivers’ privacy with negligible computation overhead. Overall, our proposed scheme provides an effective solution for V2V charging, while maintaining privacy and confidentiality of sensitive drivers’ information.

Project-based learning (PBL) has become one of the preferred pedagogical approaches in engineering education to promote active learning, problem-solving skills, and real-world application of knowledge. It is seen as a platform to promote deeper learning of knowledge-in-use within engineering and science practices rather than memorizing material. Both educators and communities accepted PBL as an invigorating tactic to motivate students to learn. Additionally, PBL historically succeeded when academics modified the pace of instruction, scaffolded learning, and created differentiation. Educators can easily change their teaching practices when they comprehend the dynamics and importance of creating a conducive environment of teaching and *** current study proposes to address challenges for scaling up project-based learning initiatives in large engineering programs to prepare students to excel in their future careers and contribute meaningfully to society through a project-based learning approach to address the quality, relevance, and impact of engineering *** intensive systematized literature review research methodology was conducted through renowned databases including Wiley, SAGE, Taylor and Francis, Elsevier, Springer IEEE Xplore, and Google Scholar. At present, the installed capacity of new energy in China's regional power grids is gradually rising, the power structure has become complex, and the intermittency and volatility of new energy output bring great challenges to the grid frequency. Automatic generation control, as an important means of secondary frequency regulation, plays an irreplaceable role in maintaining system frequency security, while CPS (control performance standard) standard, as an important criterion for restraining the behavior of the units in each control area, makes great contributions to the fair and impartial assessment of the behavior of the units in each control area and the maintenance of system frequency security. However, due to its own defects, the original CPS standard can not be better adapted to China's power grid, which has a complex power supply structure. In order to better maintain the frequency security of the power system, assess the control areas in a fair and impartial manner, and promote the mutual support of power among the areas, this paper improves the original CPS standard. Firstly, the connotation of the original CPS standard is analyzed, the deficiencies of the original CPS standard are pointed out, and improvements are made for the actual situation of the power grid. The new method proposed in this paper has a solid theoretical foundation, taking into full consideration the different capacities of new energy sources and conventional power sources in each area. The method proposed in this paper has been applied in a power grid and achieved good results.

Monitoring and controlling magnetic field intensity is essential in industrial settings for the reliable and secure functioning of equipment, systems, and other components. The Internet of Things (IoT) is advancing technology solutions for industrial monitoring in magnetic fields. A Raspberry Pi works as the main processing unit of the system and is equipped with a Wi-Fi module for wireless communications. Connecting a Hall Effect sensor to the Raspberry Pi through the proper interfaces may take magnetic field measurements in real-time. The Hall Effect sensor sends its readings to the Raspberry Pi, which then processes and analyzes them. A connected display then shows the processed data, giving the users or operators rapid visual feedback. Wi-Fi allows uninterrupted data transfer to be sent to the cloud or other remote monitoring systems. Magnetic field strength measurements may be taken with great precision using the Hall Effect sensor. Regarding processing and analyzing data, the Raspberry Pi proves to be a flexible and adaptable platform. The data on the magnetic field may be seen in real-time and monitored on the screen. Wi-Fi allows users to connect from afar, share information, and use cloud-based features and storage. By facilitating continuous data gathering, remote access, and enhanced analytics, an IoT-based method improves monitoring capabilities. The technology can identify irregular magnetic field patterns, sending real-time alarms or messages to facilitate preventative maintenance and safety checks. The suggested approach provides a scalable and reasonably priced means of tracking magnetic fields in manufacturing settings. It improves manufacturing safety, efficiency, and productivity by providing users with real-time information and enabling data-driven decision-making. © 2023 IEEE.

We characterize strongly finitary monads on categories Pos, CPO and DCPO as precisely those preserving sifted colimits. Or, equivalently, enriched finitary monads preserving reflexive coinserters. We study sifted colimits in general enriched categories. For CPO and DCPO we characterize varieties of continuous algebras as precisely the monadic categories for strongly finitary monads. The pursuit of higher data rates and efficient spectrum utilization in modern communication technologies necessitates novel solutions. In order to provide insights into improving spectral efficiency and reducing latency, this study investigates the maximum channel coding rate (MCCR) of finite block length (FBL) multiple-input multiple-output faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) channels. By optimizing power allocation, we derive the system’s MCCR expression. Simulation results are compared with the existing literature to reveal the benefits of FTN in FBL transmission. The reliability of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) Visible Light Communication (VLC) systems is affected by several factors, such as car mobility and optics system design. Therefore, this paper focuses on the cars’ relative positions and the design of the optics on the receiving end. Instead of using the rectangle detector, commonly used in the literature, this paper proposes using the polar detector for V2V-VLC systems. We introduce using an imaging receiver with different kinds of optical lenses, such as Fresnel and Aspherical lenses to improve the performance of a V2V-VLC system. We perform a channel modeling study using the non-sequential ray-tracing approach, considering the possibility of horizontal and vertical movement between vehicles. A comprehensive performance comparison of these lenses assumes different vehicle positions on the road. We further investigate the impact of receiver type and lateral shift on the performance of the considered systems. The obtained results demonstrated that with a carefully chosen system and lens parameters, an enhancement of up to 7 dB in total received power could be achieved compared to the case without the lens.

This paper concerns the development and improvement of the underwater navigation system for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) when faced with velocity-aiding sensor failures. The study addresses this challenge of sensor fusion by applying the Error-State Kalman Filter (ESKF), a form of indirect state filtering. Specifically, the ESKF targets the limitations of velocity measurements encountered during near-bottom operations. The proposed method was applied to the Xplorer-Mini AUV and evaluated using the Gazebo physics engine simulator in ROS 2. To assess its performance in handling the loss of velocity signals, a series of simulation-based experiments were conducted and compared against the traditional Inertial Navigation System (INS) and Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) algorithms. The results of the experiments demonstrate that the ESKF outperforms traditional INS and EKF algorithms, offering valuable insights into state estimation techniques for developing autonomous underwater vehicles in challenging environments.
