Disguised face identification is challenging since people cover their identities by wearing masks, hats, sunglasses, or other disguises. These disguises dramatically modify face features, making identifying individuals a difficult task. In this study, we introduce StealthFace, an ensemble model that utilizes transfer learning and skin-segmented images to improve the recognition of disguised faces. To improve the accuracy and resilience of disguised face recognition, StealthFace leverages the power of deep learning algorithms, transfer learning, and ensemble methods. The framework employs pre-trained convolutional neural network models, such as ResNet50 and DenseNet121 for feature extraction and to learn discriminative features that are important in identifying individuals despite the disguises. The ensemble approach combines models’ predictions, utilizing their collective expertise and capturing multiple perspectives on disguised faces. Our ensemble model outperforms other state-of-the-art methods with an overall accuracy of 99.24% and contributes to enhancing security measures and advancing the development of face recognition systems. © (2025), (International Association of Engineers). HFANet: Hierarchical Feature-Enhanced Aggregation Network for Camouflaged Object Detection

Camouflaged object detection (COD) aims to identify target objects in complex scenes with extremely high similarity to their surroundings, and has significant applications in military, medical, and other fields. This paper proposes a hierarchical feature-enhanced aggregation network (HFANet) for COD, aiming to address the situations that the target object is highly similar to the background. First, we adopt the pyramid vision Transformer model as the backbone for feature extraction. On top of it, the object-region amplification module and deep interaction guidance module are stacked to enhance the perception of camouflaged objects in complex scenes. Second, an enhanced receptive field module is designed to improve edge perception of camouflaged objects. At last, a multi-scale interactive fusion module is designed by cross-scale connection through adjacent layers, effectively improving the accuracy of COD. The proposed method is evaluated on three challenging datasets: CAMO, CHAMELEON, and COD10K. Evaluation results demonstrate superior performance compared to the state-of-the-art methods. © Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2024.

This study addresses gastrointestinal cancer radiation therapy challenges by implementing advanced deep learning techniques. We focus on automating manual segmentation tasks during treatment planning to enhance efficiency and patient tolerance. Our methodology uses a diverse 3D MRI scan dataset to employ image analysis, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), and Image Segmentation. The primary architectural choices involve the U-Net and InceptionResNetv2 models, contributing to developing a predictive segmentation model. This substantial result underscores the effectiveness of our approach in achieving accurate segmentations in the clinical setting. The overarching objective of our project is to automate the segmentation of the stomach and intestines in MRI scans, thereby streamlining radiation therapy planning for improved efficiency and patient care. In our evaluations, the implemented model demonstrates a commendable dice coefficient of 0.7, as indicated by metrics such as dice loss. Anticipated outcomes encompass reduced treatment times, enhanced patient comfort, and optimised tumour radiation doses while minimising healthy tissue exposure. The successful implementation of this advanced model holds the potential to revolutionise current radiation therapy practices, significantly elevating cancer treatment outcomes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In recent years, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have garnered a significant deal of interest for their ability to detect changes in metropolitan areas. One of the uses of change detection in satellite photographs is in the field of urban planning. Other applications include environmental monitoring and remote surveillance. A number of different approaches have been suggested in recent times for the purpose of automatically identifying alterations in the land cover based on GIS photographs. However, due to poor texture, cluttered context, and considerable object scale disparities, the convolutional neural network (CNN) method is only partially successful in capturing the context from geographic information systems (GISs). This is despite the fact that it remains an effective method for detecting change in urban environments. The article presents the construction of a CNN-based change detection model using the utilization of Dung Beetle Optimization (DBO). The DBO algorithm is used to adjust the loss parameter in order to increase the overall performance. The approach that was proposed makes use of the Onera satellite data set and displays an overall accuracy of 97.50% percent. In light of this, it appears that the strategy that is proposed is both very efficient and effective. © 2025 IEEE.

With its vast population and extensive healthcare requirements, India is moving toward digitalizing its health records. Safeguarding Electronic Health Records (EHRs) is crucial given the increase in security breaches and attacks, with India’s healthcare sector at the forefront. This study provides an overview of EHR security in India by exploring the EHR adoption rate in India and the barriers to its use. It focuses on the significant security challenges they bring, and the initiatives currently being implemented in India, such as the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and the recently released National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) Digital Health Standards. Integrating Blockchain in current EHR systems to resolve the observed challenges is then explored. The findings of this study show the urgency of integrating emerging technologies such as blockchain which have the potential for patient-controlled data sharing and data immutability possibly within the framework of the ABDM. This study aims to serve as a valuable resource for healthcare professionals, researchers and other regions seeking to understand and improve EHR security. © 2025 the Author(s).

South Indian agricultural crop yield prediction using deep learning and transfer learning models

Agriculture is an essential part of the Indian economy, so crop yield (CY) prediction is vital to help farmers and their businesses understand when to plant a crop and when to harvest based on seasons for better CY. This study proposes a deep learning model called Mish Activation-based Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit (MABGRU) to forecast CYs primarily grown throughout India. The system comprises the following steps: preprocessing, deep feature extraction, feature selection, and CY prediction. Initially, the system performs preprocessing steps such as imputation and normalization to handle the missing values and standardize the dataset. Then, deep features are learned using the Deformable Attention-based Residual Network-50 (DARN50). Then, the best features are chosen from the extracted feature set using the Tent chaotic map and phasor operator, including the Sparrow search algorithm (TPSSA). Finally, MABGRU is employed for CY prediction. The result of the system is compared with the existing systems, and our model outperforms the previous techniques by achieving a maximum accuracy of 98.88% with less computational time (15.9 ms). © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Austria, part of Springer Nature 2025.

In the modern era of smart applications, video data is critically important in various contexts. In most of these applications, cameras are frequently incorporated to facilitate authentication. As a result, face recognition is the biometric method most frequently employed to authenticate users in these applications. The vulnerability of face recognition systems to spoofing attacks grows in tandem with their increased usage. As a result, robust countermeasures are required. This paper presents an approach to face anti-spoofing through transfer learning and YOLOv8 optimization. Additionally, a custom dataset was constructed using images obtained from web cameras and an existing dataset to assess the proposed work’s real-time effectiveness. The proposed approach also adds a blurriness threshold during image capture to improve performance. With a mean Average Precision (mAP50) of 0.975, the experimental outcomes highlight the model’s effectiveness in detecting face spoofing. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

To transmit customer power data collected by smart meters(SMs)to utility companies,data must first be transmitted to the corresponding data aggregation point(DAP)of the *** number of DAPs installed and the installation location greatly impact the whole *** the traditional DAP placement algorithm,the number of DAPs must be set in advance,but determining the best number of DAPs is difficult,which undoubtedly reduces the overall performance of the ***,the excessive gap between the loads of different DAPs is also an important factor affecting the quality of the *** address the above problems,this paper proposes a DAP placement algorithm,APSSA,based on the improved affinity propagation(AP)algorithm and sparrow search(SSA)algorithm,which can select the appropriate number of DAPs to be installed and the corresponding installation locations according to the number of SMs and their distribution locations in different *** algorithm adds an allocation mechanism to optimize the subnetwork in the *** is evaluated under three different areas and compared with other DAP placement *** experimental results validated that the method in this paper can reduce the network cost,shorten the average transmission distance,and reduce the load gap.

AI and virtual assistants are transforming higher education by using digital tools to enhance teaching and learning in ways that go beyond traditional methods. In this research we introduce ByteBuddy a virtual assistant which assists instructors on Java ***'s framework is designed in a way to integrate easily into educational context. This study reveals the architecture of ByteBuddy, the process model that captured the behavior of students in the learning environment and the observation of its application in java instructions. data clustering is an essential technique for analyzing complex datasets and continues to be a central research topic in data *** clustering algorithms,such as K-means,are widely used due to their simplicity and *** paper proposes a novel Spiral Mechanism-Optimized Phasmatodea Population Evolution Algorithm(SPPE)to improve clustering *** SPPE algorithm introduces several enhancements to the standard Phasmatodea Population Evolution(PPE)***,a Variable Neighborhood Search(VNS)factor is incorporated to strengthen the local search capability and foster population ***,a position update model,incorporating a spiral mechanism,is designed to improve the algorithm’s global exploration and convergence ***,a dynamic balancing factor,guided by fitness values,adjusts the search process to balance exploration and exploitation *** performance of SPPE is first validated on CEC2013 benchmark functions,where it demonstrates excellent convergence speed and superior optimization results compared to several state-of-the-art metaheuristic *** further verify its practical applicability,SPPE is combined with the K-means algorithm for data clustering and tested on seven *** results show that SPPE-K-means improves clustering accuracy,reduces dependency on initialization,and outperforms other clustering *** study highlights SPPE’s robustness and efficiency in solving both optimization and clustering challenges,making it a promising tool for complex data analysis tasks.
