Retinal vessel segmentation (RVS) is important to accurately differentiate retinal vasculature for diagnosing and monitoring various ocular and systemic diseases. The traditional methods for RVS have mostly involved supervised learning, although semi-supervised and unsupervised techniques are on the rise. This paper reviews the increase in complexity of developments in RVS primarily after 2020. The methods were chosen to cover both the gradual transition over time and a variety of unorthodox or combinatorial approaches. This includes convolutional neural networks, encoder-decoder models, generative models, and other multi-modal or hybrid techniques. CNN approaches discussed employ Zero Phase Component Analysis, Global Contrast Normalization, and reinforcement learning. Encoder-decoder models include approaches such as the use of skip and residual connections, spatial attention, and atrous enhancement U-Net. Generative models propose short link connections, recurrent residual blocks, and multi-scale features to refine convolutional blocks. Hybrid methods involve the use of connectivity features, the MISOdata Algorithm, cross-domain adaptation, and multiple filters (such as morphological, match, and Gabor). All the frameworks are compared based on their performance on the benchmark dataset DRIVE to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current state of RVS. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The advancement of medical imaging techniques evolving from X-ray to PET images and the medical image analysis helped medical experts to detect, diagnose and offer treatments for complex disorders and deadly diseases in the human body. Among the various modalities used, Ultrasound imaging is the most widely accepted modality because of its affordability, non-invasive nature and various other features. But the presence of speckle noise in ultrasound image lowers the image quality and reduces diagnostic value. This article states an improved hybrid speckle noise reduction method, a combined application of Kuan and non-local means filters. In this method, Kuan filter is used to sharpen the edges and thereafter the speckle noise elimination is done by using the non-local means. In addition, the performance of the proposed hybrid filter and its design parameters are optimised by using a meta-heuristic called grey wolf optimiser. The performance of hybrid method is evaluated by analysing a chosen set of well-known post filtering methods used for speckle reduction with given ultrasound B-mode images. The comparison of test results using remarkable performance metrics and computation time demonstrate that the hybrid method can be used as the efficient speckle reduction method for image analysis. With the rapid growth of the number of processors in a multiprocessor system, faulty processors occur in it with a probability that rises quickly. The probability of a subsystem with an appropriate size being fault-free in a definite time interval is a significant and practical measure of the reliability for a multiprocessor system, which characterizes the functionality of a multiprocessor system well. Motivated by the study of subgraph reliability, as well as the attractive structure and fault tolerance properties of (n, k)-arrangement graph A n, k, we focus on the subgraph reliability for A n, k under the probabilistic fault model in this article. First, we investigate intersections of no more than four subgraphs in A n, k, and classify all the intersecting modes. Second, we focus on the probability P(q, A n, k n-1, k-1) with which at least one (n-1, k-1)-subarrangement graph is fault-free in A n, k, when given a uniform probability q with which a single vertex is fault-free, and we establish the P(q, A n, kn-1, k-1) by adopting the principle of inclusion-exclusion under the probabilistic fault model. Finally, we study the probabilistic fault model involving a nonuniform probability with which a single vertex is fault-free, and we prove that the P(q, A n, kn-1, k-1) under both models is very close to the asymptotic value by both theoretical arguments and experimental results. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Maharashtra is a remarkable state in India that is a major producer of onions, accounting for a sizeable portion of the country's total production. An ideal climate for onion growth is provided in areas like Nashik, Ahmednagar, and Pune Despite its importance, growing onions is filled with difficulties, the most significant of which being the frequency of illnesses that damage onion crops. Serious risks to onion production include diseases which are downy mildew, purple blotch, bacterial blight, white rot & basal rot which result in output losses and financial hardship for farmers. Machine learning models have become extremely effective tools for managing and forecasting agricultural crop diseases such as tomato, corn, grape etc. While nearly all crop leaf diseases may be predicted by these algorithms, very little or none has been done for onions in Maharashtra. There is almost no research done focusing on the onion disease found in different parts of Maharashtra. The purpose of the study is to assist farmers in Maharashtra in recognizing various diseases during the cultivation of onions by utilizing a machine learning model that combines CNN with image classification. Using a dataset of plant leaf diseases, this model ran with 95% accuracy. Additionally, given that the suggested model may be trained on any kind of leaf disease picture dataset and assist in disease type prediction, it can be suggested to work on an onion disease dataset as well. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2024.

The evolution of human civilization has been intrinsically linked to advancements in technology, leading to the development of multiple languages as mediums of communication. However, this linguistic diversity poses significant challenges in cross-cultural communication. Despite numerous efforts and achieving near state-of-The-Art results in language translation, a universal solution remains elusive. This research study proposes an advanced approach to machine translation by utilizing server-side machine learning to enable seamless communication across various languages. By sending GET or POST requests through JQuery, users can efficiently translate text. The process is structured into three key steps: speech recognition (conversion of spoken words to text), translation using machine learning algorithms, and speech synthesis (conversion of translated text to audio). This approach aims to enhance real-Time translation capabilities, offering a more effective and user-friendly solution for overcoming language barriers. © 2024 IEEE.

The longer survival of virus and bacteria under low temperature greatly accelerates the infection risk and duration. How to effectively and rapidly inactivate them beneath ice layer in cold chain logistics has been an important issue never being well studied. Here, we demonstrate a novel light condenser design of high power UVC-LED device for rapid penetrating inactivation through ice layers. With fish-scale, ellipsoidal and alumina coated condenser, a portable UVC (275 nm) LED device in ultrahigh light output power (> 3 W) was fabricated in a narrowed propagation angle (< 60^o). Such condensed light beams are able to overcome the interfacial refringence at the ice and bubble interfaces in different types of ice layers for enhancing the transmission rate. As a result, the penetrating UVC light could give rise to the effective necrosis and apoptosis influence as well as DNA/RNA destruction on cells. A 99.99 % inactivation rate of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus has been obtained through 5-mm-thickness opaque ice layer. By 1.5 s irradiation, SARS-COV-2 virus can be completely inactivated and disinfected. This work proved the strong power of UVC-LED for cold chain disinfection applications. © 2025

Nail denting or crumbling may result from nail psoriasis. A nail condition known as psoriatic onychodystrophy or psoriatic nails. Psoriasis sufferers frequently experience it;reported occurrences range from 10% to 78%. Psoriatic nails are more common in the elderly and in people with psoriatic arthritis. By examining the nails on a human hand, numerous illnesses can be found early in the diagnosing process. The nail color of an individual can help in the diagnosis of specific medical disorders. In this case, the recommended method results in the decision-making process for sickness diagnosis. The system is fed by human nail art. The technique recognizes nail features unique to a given condition by analyzing images of nails. The suggested technique makes advantage of the various distinctive characteristics of human nails to detect illness by changing the colour of the nails. The first training set data, which is derived from an image of a patient's nails with a particular ailment, is handled by the Weka tool. To get the desired results, the feature discoveries of the picture are compared to the training dataset. The distortion of the nail unit is known as nail disease. Nail units have their own disease class due to their own indications, symptoms, causes, and consequences, which may or may not be related to other medical disorders. Nail problems are still difficult and ambiguous to identify. A novel machine learning method for recognising and classifying nail problems from photographs is presented in this study. This framework combines CNN models with data mining techniques to extract characteristics. This research was also contrasted with certain other province algorithms (Support vector, ANN, K - nearest neighbors, and RF) evaluated on datasets and showed positive results. The categorization of Electro Cardio Gram (ECG) trials into significant arrhythmia programs to identify abnormal heartbeats is presented in this study as an effective hybridized method. The most frequently used and recognized detection technology to display heart fitness is the physiological detection utilizing ECG data. Arrhythmia beat categorization also plays a significant part in ECG analysis that is intended to clarify cardiac well-being position when investigating heartbeat. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) is deployed for the segmentation of input ECG images. The proposed work uses Fourier transform to remove the intrinsic sound of ECG signals during the preprocessing step in order to properly categorize ECG samples into main arrhythmia classifications. Chicken Swarm Optimization (CSO) is employed for the effective feature selection which is followed by CNN based classification. In the contemporary digital realm, the utilization of online services has surged, facilitated by the seamless integration of deep learning technology, which is paramount in applications demanding precision and efficiency. A pivotal use case in this context is online handwritten signature verification, where the need for exceptional accuracy is indisputable. This paper introduces ‘Signa-Deep, ’ an innovative approach designed to address the challenge of online signature verification and the determination of an individual’s authorization status. The study explores a range of methodologies, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), GoogleNet, and MobileNet, to discern the authenticity of signatures and affirm the identity of the signatory. The results of our proposed method are promising, showcasing its potential to significantly enhance the security of digital transactions and identity verification processes.
