The rapid proliferation of IoT devices has created an unprecedented need for real-time data processing and decision-making. This paper proposes an Edge Intelligence Hybrid Framework designed for real-time IoT applications using multi-stage adaptive processing methods. The framework structured into three layers: edge-level processing, fog-level aggregation, and cloud-level computation, enabling efficient distribution of tasks across the hierarchy. At the edge, lightweight models and preprocessing techniques, such as Kalman Filtering and Huffman Coding, ensure low-latency and energy-efficient operation. Intermediate computations and model synchronization occur at the fog level, while high-complexity tasks like deep learning model training performed at the cloud level. Results demonstrate that edge-level processing achieves an accuracy of 85.4 %, while fog and cloud levels improve accuracy to 89.4% and 94.9%, respectively. Latency at the edge is as low as 9-13ms, compared to fog (23-29ms) and cloud (117-125ms), ensuring suitability for time-critical IoT tasks. The proposed framework effectively balances latency, accuracy, and resource optimization, making it ideal for applications such as predictive maintenance, healthcare, and smart surveillance.

In recent years, due to the rise in Peer to Peer (P2P) networks has brought a significant way in which the data is shared and services are offered over the internet. These P2P networks make use of decentralized architecture in which nodes directly interact and exchange resources. However, due to the use of decentralized architecture, the P2P networks are exposed to various security threats such as data breaches, and other malicious attacks. In this research, Stacking Ensemble Model (SEM) is proposed for network intrusion detection in P2P networks. Initially, the data is considered from network intrusion detection dataset and then preprocessed with data imputation and min-max normalization effectively handles the missing values and rescales the data into significant range. After that, Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) is incorporated to select optimal features from preprocessed data based on feature importance. Finally, the proposed SEM effectively detects the intrusion in P2P networks which enhances the security. From the results, the proposed SEM model obtained a better outcome in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score compared to the existing K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) by accomplishing 97.20%, 94.71%, 96.62%, and 95.65%, respectively.

Dense contrastive representation learning (DCRL) has greatly improved the learning efficiency for image dense prediction tasks, showing its great potential to reduce the large costs of medical image collection and dense annotation. However, the properties of medical images make unreliable correspondence discovery, bringing an open problem of large-scale false positive and negative (FP&N) pairs in DCRL. In this paper, we propose GEoMetric vIsual deNse sImilarity (GEMINI) learning which embeds the homeomorphism prior to DCRL and enables a reliable correspondence discovery for effective dense contrast. We proposes a deformable homeomorphism learning (DHL) which models the homeomorphism of medical images and learns to estimate a deformable mapping to predict the pixels’ correspondence under the condition of topological preservation. It effectively reduces the searching space of pairing and drives an implicit and soft learning of negative pairs via gradient. We also proposes a geometric semantic similarity (GSS) which extracts semantic information in features to measure the alignment degree for the correspondence learning. It will promote the learning efficiency and performance of deformation, constructing positive pairs reliably. We implement two practical variants on two typical representation learning tasks in our experiments. Our promising results on seven datasets which outperform the existing methods show our great superiority. We will release our code at a companion website. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. In order to create enduring partnerships that are essential to attaining long-term economic success, supply chain management, or SCM, is essential. Strict standards and decision-making procedures are necessary for efficient SCM, and they have a big influence on the final results. In order to efficiently manage inventory levels and logistical procedures, this study offers a complex ML system that combines demand forecasts and optimisation methods. For predicting demand, the approach uses a Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) model, taking advantage of its capacity to process time-series data and identify intricate trends. The algorithm achieves an impressive 96.4% forecasting of demand accuracy by examining extensive historical sales data and a variety of supply chain variables. In order to optimise inventory rules, the investigation also uses optimisation techniques, particularly Genetic Algorithms (GA) in conjunction with Simulated Annealing (SA). The model demonstrated significant improvements when implemented to an actual commercial logistics system. Notably, it reduced storage expenses by 19% and increased order fulfillment rates by 24%, proving its capacity for combining service standards with financial efficiency. The findings highlight the significant impact of ML on improving supply chain efficiency and show how it can result in significant cost savings and improve service quality.

This study introduces a system designed to identify pests in crops and classify them as either beneficial or harmful. The project begins by providing a comprehensive overview of various pest identification methods, analyzing their strengths and limitations. To address the problem, a categorization approach is proposed that incorporates convolutional neural networks (CNN) to build the pest identification and classification model. The model was trained using a dataset containing images of different pest species. Extensive testing was conducted on a large dataset, and the system's performance was validated against multiple traditional classification models. The proposed framework achieved a classification accuracy of 90%, outperforming conventional methods. This research highlights agriculture's vital role in the economy and underscores the potential of advanced technologies in supporting sustainable farming practices.

Transportation Networks (TNs) play a critical role in economic and social systems, yet the dynamic nature and inherent heterogeneity of TN data pose challenges for Dynamic Knowledge Integration (DKI). Traditional approaches for matching entities from different knowledge bases often struggle with the complexity and diversity of TN data, which varies across systems and sources such as traffic sensors and GPS devices. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel Multi-Objective Genetic Programming assisted Stochastic Deep Reinforcement Learning (MOGP-SDRL) for DKI in TNs. Unlike existing methods, the proposed framework combines SDRL and MOGP to achieve superior efficiency, accuracy and adaptability in handling heterogeneous TN data. First, a novel SDRL framework is designed to automate and optimize the selection of Similarity Features (SFs) for entity matching. This framework incorporates a probabilistic action selection mechanism, which enhances exploration during the SF selection process. Second, a novel MOGP is presented to construct high-quality, diverse SFs by exploring non-dominated feature ensembles, enhancing both accuracy and adaptability in matching results, leading to more accurate and adaptable matching results compared to conventional methods. Lastly, new approximate evaluation metrics are developed to assess alignment quality without relying on predefined entity alignments, guiding the optimization process. Experimental evaluations on OAEI's knowledge graph (KG) dataset and five pairs of real-world TN dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of the MOGP-SDRL framework, which consistently produces high-quality matching results and achieves significant improvements in both accuracy and robustness over existing approaches. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

Snapshot boosting: a fast ensemble framework for deep neural networks

Boosting has been proven to be effective in improving the generalization of machine learning models in many fields. It is capable of getting high-diversity base learners and getting an accurate ensemble model by combining a sufficient number of weak learners. However, it is rarely used in deep learning due to the high training budget of the neural network. Another method named snapshot ensemble can significantly reduce the training budget, but it is hard to balance the tradeoff between training costs and diversity. Inspired by the ideas of snapshot ensemble and boosting, we propose a method named snapshot boosting. A series of operations are performed to get many base models with high diversity and accuracy, such as the use of the validation set, the boosting-based training framework, and the effective ensemble strategy. Last, we evaluate our method on the computer vision(CV) and the natural language processing(NLP) tasks, and the results show that snapshot boosting can get a more balanced trade-off between training expenses and ensemble accuracy than other well-known ensemble methods.

The continuous operation of Earth-orbiting satellites generates vast and ever-growing archives of Remote Sensing (RS) images. Natural language presents an intuitive interface for accessing, querying, and interpreting the data from such archives. However, existing Vision-Language Models (VLMs) are predominantly trained on web-scraped, noisy image-text data, exhibiting limited exposure to the specialized domain of RS. This deficiency results in poor performance on RS-specific tasks, as commonly used datasets often lack detailed, scientifically accurate textual descriptions and instead emphasize solely on attributes like date and location. To bridge this critical gap, we introduce GAIA, a novel dataset designed for multi-scale, multi-sensor, and multi-modal RS image analysis. GAIA comprises of 205,150 meticulously curated RS image-text pairs, representing a diverse range of RS modalities associated to different spatial resolutions. Unlike existing vision-language datasets in RS, GAIA specifically focuses on capturing a diverse range of RS applications, providing unique information about environmental changes, natural disasters, and various other dynamic phenomena. The dataset provides a spatially and temporally balanced distribution, spanning across the globe, covering the last 25 years with a balanced temporal distribution of observations. GAIA’s construction involved a two-stage process: (1) targeted web-scraping of images and accompanying text from reputable RS-related sources, and (2) generation of five high-quality, scientifically grounded synthetic captions for each image using carefully crafted prompts that leverage the advanced vision-language capabilities of GPT-4o. We also release an automated processing framework developed for this purpose, enabling the broader research community to generate captions for RS images using the web-crawled image-text data. Current methods commonly used for uncertainty quantification (UQ) in deep learning (DL) models utilize Bayesian methods which are computationally expensive and time-consuming. In this paper, we provide a detailed study of UQ based on evidential deep learning (EDL) for deep neural network models designed to identify jets in high energy proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider and explore its utility in anomaly detection. EDL is a DL approach that treats learning as an evidence acquisition process designed to provide confidence (or epistemic uncertainty) about test data. Using publicly available datasets for jet classification benchmarking, we explore hyperparameter optimizations for EDL applied to the challenge of UQ for jet identification. We also investigate how the uncertainty is distributed for each jet class, how this method can be implemented for the detection of anomalies, how the uncertainty compares with Bayesian ensemble methods, and how the uncertainty maps onto latent spaces for the models. Our studies uncover some pitfalls of EDL applied to anomaly detection and a more effective way to quantify uncertainty from EDL as compared with the foundational EDL setup. These studies illustrate a methodological approach to interpreting EDL in jet classification models, providing new insights on how EDL quantifies uncertainty and detects out-of-distribution data which may lead to improved EDL methods for DL models applied to classification tasks. © 2025, CC BY.
