Effective communication is crucial for success in various interactions, including personal and online interviews. The work proposed is to refine the communication effectiveness and extend the understanding of interactions by incorporating new system functions of real-time emotion and body language capture. Facial and body landmarks are analyzed using Google’s Mediapipe to ensure accurate identification of the frequently performed emotions and frequently posed postures. The proposed system uses three classifiers, namely Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, and Ridge Classifier, all integrated in one pipeline;this makes our work distinct. In the testing phase the classifiers are checked to avoid misidentification of emotions or incorrect posture in different situations. One of the major novelties of this work is its ability to address users of different languages, thus it is relevant anywhere in the world. This dynamic and robust system provides accurate emotion analysis achieving the accuracy of 92%, enhancing understanding in various communication contexts and setting a new standard for interview and interaction analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

A comprehensive benchmark is yet to be established in the Image Manipulation Detection & Localization (IMDL) field. The absence of such a benchmark leads to insufficient and misleading model evaluations, severely undermining the development of this field. However, the scarcity of open-sourced baseline models and inconsistent training and evaluation protocols make conducting rigorous experiments and faithful comparisons among IMDL models challenging. To address these challenges, we introduce IMDL-BenCo, the first comprehensive IMDL benchmark and modular codebase. IMDL-BenCo: i) decomposes the IMDL framework into standardized, reusable components and revises the model construction pipeline, improving coding efficiency and customization flexibility;ii) fully implements or incorporates training code for state-of-the-art models to establish a comprehensive IMDL benchmark;and iii) conducts deep analysis based on the established benchmark and codebase, offering new insights into IMDL model architecture, dataset characteristics, and evaluation standards. Specifically, IMDL-BenCo includes common processing algorithms, 8 state-of-the-art IMDL models (1 of which are reproduced from scratch), 2 sets of standard training and evaluation protocols, 15 GPU-accelerated evaluation metrics, and 3 kinds of robustness evaluation. This benchmark and codebase represent a significant leap forward in calibrating the current progress in the IMDL field and inspiring future breakthroughs. The significant improvements in point cloud representation learning have increased its applicability in many real-life applications, resulting in the need for lightweight, better-performing models. One widely proposed efficient method is knowledge distillation, where a lightweight model uses knowledge from large models. Very few works exist on distilling the knowledge for point clouds. Most of the work focuses on cross-modal-based approaches that make the method expensive to train. This paper proposes PointKAD, an adversarial knowledge distillation framework for point cloud-based tasks. PointKAD includes adversarial feature distillation and response distillation with the help of discriminators to extract and distill the representation of feature maps and logits. We conduct extensive experimental studies on both synthetic (ModelNet40) and real (ScanObjectNN) datasets to show that PointKAD achieves state-of-the-art results compared to the existing knowledge distillation methods for point cloud classification. Additionally, we present results on the part segmentation task, highlighting the efficacy of the PointKAD framework. Our experiments further reveal that PointKAD is capable of transferring knowledge across different tasks and datasets, show-casing its versatility. Furthermore, we demonstrate that PointKAD can be applied to a cross-modal training setup, achieving competitive performance with cross-modal-based point cloud methods for classification. © 2025 IEEE.

Coastal areas around the world face a great threat from tropical cyclones, which makes timely and accurate identification essential for efficient disaster response. An enhanced method for detecting tropical cyclones is proposed in this work using the YOLOv8 (You Only Look Once version 8) object identification algorithm. Using the real-time object recognition capabilities of YOLOv8, the methodology is designed to tackle the challenges associated with finding cyclonic structures in satellite data. To detect crucial features typical of tropical cyclones - like cloud formations, circular symmetry, and dynamic atmospheric fluctuations - the YOLOv8 architecture is improved. To ensure its adaptability to different climatic circumstances, the model is trained using a varied dataset of labeled satellite photos. The YOLOv8-based methodology is superior to existing methods in detecting tropical cyclones with accuracy and efficiency almost in real-time, as demonstrated by the experimental results. Because of the algorithm's excellent precision, recall, and computing economy, early warning systems and catastrophe preparedness can benefit greatly from it. This research contributes to the ongoing effort to develop detection approaches for increased resilience in vulnerable coastal areas, while also utilizing YOLOv8's capabilities to address the global threat posed by tropical cyclones. This study can help clarify the necessity of improving models and conducting better observations of Tropical Cyclones. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper demonstrates the feasibility of using an electronic nose to assess fish quality by analyzing air quality and examining volatile organic compounds (VOCs) alongside physical variables, with pH, protein content, and VOCs serving as chemical reference points. Artificial intelligence algorithms were employed to predict quality and calculate regression coefficients. Using the reference neural network algorithm based on chemical and physical compounds, regression coefficients (R values) achieved were 0.99, 0.98, and 0.97, respectively. Additionally, ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) produced R values of 0.99, 0.85, and 0.98. Both fuzzy logic and ANFIS proved effective for predicting fish quality. Image processing techniques, including histogram analysis, color mapping, and edge detection, were also applied to assess fish quality. To enhance the inference process, Neutrosophic Logic-Enhanced Fuzzy Logic Systems were utilized, addressing uncertainty and imprecision in fish quality assessment. Neutrosophic logic combines fuzzy logic's partial truth with indeterminacy, represented by three membership functions: truth, indeterminacy, and falsity. Neutrosophic fuzzy inference integrates steps like neutrosophication, rule evaluation, aggregation, and defuzzification, ensuring improved expressiveness and fidelity. For instance, neutrosophic fuzzy rules evaluated fish freshness and appearance to determine quality ratings such as poor, good, or excellent. This integration enhances decision-making by accurately modeling complex real-world uncertainties. These methods, combining electronic nose technology, artificial intelligence, and neutrosophic inference, provide a robust, non-destructive, and cost-effective approach to detecting spoilage in fillet fish. © 2025, University of New Mexico. In this work, we study the impact of QA finetuning data on downstream factuality. We show that fine-tuning on lesser-known facts that are poorly stored during pretraining yields significantly worse factuality than fine-tuning on well-known facts, even when all facts are seen during pretraining. We prove this phenomenon theoretically, showing that training on lesser-known facts can lead the model to ignore subject entity names and instead output a generic plausible response even when the relevant factual knowledge is encoded in the model. On three question answering benchmarks (PopQA, Entity Questions, and MMLU) and two language models (Llama-2-7B and Mistral-7B), we find that (i) finetuning on a completely factual but lesser-known subset of the data deteriorates downstream factuality (5-10%) and (ii) finetuning on a subset of better-known examples matches or outperforms finetuning on the entire dataset. Ultimately, our results shed light on the interaction between pretrained knowledge and finetuning data and demonstrate the importance of taking into account how facts are stored in the pretrained model when fine-tuning for knowledge-intensive tasks. Discovery of causal relationships is a fundamental goal of science and vital for sound decision making. As such, there has been considerable interest in causal discovery methods with provable guarantees. Existing works have thus far largely focused on discovery under hard intervention and infinite-samples, in which intervening on a node readily reveals the orientation of every edge incident to the node. This setup however overlooks the stochasticity inherent in real-world, finite-sample settings. Our work takes a step towards studying finite-sample causal discovery, wherein multiple interventions on a node are now needed for edge orientation. In this work, we study the canonical setup in theoretical causal discovery literature, where one assumes causal sufficiency and access to the graph skeleton. Our key observation is that discovery may be viewed as structured, multiple testing, and we develop a novel testing framework to this end. Crucially, our framework allows for anytime valid testing as multiple tests are needed to conclude an edge orientation. It also allows for flexible combination of structured test-statistics (enabling one to use Meek rules to propagate edge orientation) as well as robust testing. Through empirical simulations, we confirm the usefulness of our framework. In closing, using this testing framework, we show how one may efficiently verify graph structure by drawing a connection to multi-constraint bandits and designing a novel algorithm to this end. Foodborne disease is still a major public health concern in both advanced and emerging economies. In terms of adopting new technology, the health industry continues to lag behind all other sectors. India has traditionally relied on food farming to make money but which food item is good for whom we have no proper idea. Especially when it comes to healthcare sectors, the Internet of health things (IoHT) and blockchain can play an important role. It can enhance the quality of care for its users and reduce costs by allocating the correct food chain to the targeted users. We are currently employing blockchain in supply chain management to cluster the patients based on their health care type. For example, diabetic patients prefer a particular type of food. Segregating the food type within the supply chain can reduce a lot of effort and cost. Blockchain can provide a solution to the issues that arise in the healthcare-based supply chain system because of its decentralized and immutable nature. The service's execution has been depicted in pictures and accompanied by detailed descriptions. Recent trends in computational intelligence for educational big data analysis

Educational big data analytics and computational intelligence have transformed our understanding of learning ability and computing power, catalyzing the emergence of Education 4.0. However, educators and researchers still struggle to identify appropriate methods to analyze the diverse data generated within educational environments. The complexity and uncertainty inherent in heterogeneous and homogeneous data often compound these challenges. This study aims to explore the potential applications of computational intelligence methods to support educational big data analysis. We begin by discussing the processes involved in educational big data analytics (EDA), including data collection, data preprocessing, feature extraction, modeling, and evaluation. We then provided an extensive review of computational intelligence and its methods, including artificial intelligence approaches, machine learning methods, deep learning methods, meta-heuristic optimization approaches, ensemble techniques, and the Markov model, as applied to educational big data analysis. Furthermore, we discussed novel application areas for computational intelligence in education, including predicting academic performance, social network analysis, detecting undesirable student behaviors, adaptive curriculum sequencing and personalization, courseware development, and decision support systems. We also mapped various computational intelligence methods to these novel application areas. Despite the progress made in educational big data analytics implementation, challenging research areas still require further investigation. These research areas include enhanced academic performance prediction, data-driven intelligent tutoring systems, adversarial machine learning, student engagement, personalized learning, and more. Cybersecurity has become very important due the rapid growth of digital technologies. It plays an important role in protecting computer systems and networks from potential attacks. Cybersecurity involves a set of technologies and algorithms that sometimes bring in threats to the security of computer networks, the end system, attacks on data, inappropriate access, changes and harm. Cyber-defense mechanisms involved at the host, application, network and data level require a constantly improved process to secure the system from any feasible attack, targeting data security and privacy. The network anomaly detection is challenging because of the complex network topologies and high dimensional data, leading to unbalanced performance, high false positive rates and difficulty of handling time-series data. Deep learning (DL) methods appear as an essential element in network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) to recognize malicious behaviors or anomalies. Anomaly detection and network security are extensively utilized for intrusion detection performed by utilizing Cyber security to reduce malicious behavior in the networks. DL based-based detection utilizes many algorithms, which are capable of capturing complex patterns, effective for high-dimensional data. In DL, the anomaly is solved by two ways: flow-based detection that analyzes the network flows and packet-level data to identify anomalies. © 2024 IEEE.
