In this paper, the problem of vehicle service mode selection (sensing, communication, or both) and vehicle connections within terahertz (THz) enabled joint sensing and communications over vehicular networks is studied. The considered network consists of several service provider vehicles (SPVs) that can provide: 1) only sensing service, 2) only communication service, and 3) both services, sensing service request vehicles, and communication service request vehicles. Based on the vehicle network topology and their service accessibility, SPVs strategically select service request vehicles to provide sensing, communication, or both services. This problem is formulated as an optimization problem, aiming to maximize the number of successfully served vehicles by jointly determining the service mode of each SPV and its associated vehicles. To solve this problem, we propose a dynamic graph neural network (GNN) model that selects appropriate graph information aggregation functions according to the vehicle network topology, thus extracting more vehicle network information compared to traditional static GNNs that use fixed aggregation functions for different vehicle network topologies. Using the extracted vehicle network information, the service mode of each SPV and its served service request vehicles will be determined. Simulation results show that the proposed dynamic GNN based scheme can improve the number of successfully served vehicles by up to 17% compared to a GNN based algorithm with a fixed neural network model.

Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines have emerged as highly effective strategies in the prophylaxis and treatment of diseases. mRNA design, a key to the success of mRNA vaccines, in-volves finding optimal codons and increasing secondary structure stability to lengthen mRNA half-life, ultimately enhancing protein expression. Despite receiving widespread attention, most methods primarily rely on manual design, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. While optimization approaches can alleviate this issue, existing methods still exhibit critical limitations caused by conflicts between codon usage and mRNA structural stability, compounded by the vast design space of mRNA resulting from the presence of synonymous codons. In this paper, a novel multi-objective evolutionary optimization-based mRNA design method is proposed. We first formulate the mRNA design problem as a multi-objective optimization problem and then develop an Elite Archive-Assisted Multi-Objective Evolutionary algorithm for mRNA Design, namely EAA-MOED, by incorporating a novel elite archive-assisted method into a weighted optimization framework to improve search efficiency. Experimental studies, involving two state-of-the-art mRNA design methods and five well-known MOEAs, show the competitiveness of the proposed EAA-MOED in mRNA design.

High-resolution point clouds (HRPCD) anomaly detection (AD) plays a critical role in precision machining and high-end equipment manufacturing. Despite considerable 3D-AD methods that have been proposed recently, they still cannot meet the requirements of the HRPCD-AD task. There are several challenges: i) It is difficult to directly capture HRPCD information due to large amounts of points at the sample level;ii) The advanced transformer-based methods usually obtain anisotropic features, leading to degradation of the representation;iii) The proportion of abnormal areas is very small, which makes it difficult to characterize. To address these challenges, we propose a novel group-level feature-based network, called Group3AD, which has a significantly efficient representation ability. First, we design an Intercluster Uniformity Network (IUN) to present the mapping of different groups in the feature space as several clusters, and obtain a more uniform distribution between clusters representing different parts of the point clouds in the feature space. Then, an Intracluster Alignment Network (IAN) is designed to encourage groups within the cluster to be distributed tightly in the feature space. In addition, we propose an Adaptive Group-Center Selection (AGCS) based on geometric information to improve the pixel density of potential anomalous regions during inference. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of our proposed Group3AD, which surpasses Reg3D-AD by the margin of 5% in terms of object-level AUROC on Real3D-AD. The global currency market, which has millions of active participants and is the largest financial market in the world, has been greatly affected by the emergence of deep learning techniques. There is widespread recognition of deep learning’s effectiveness for price movement predictions, particularly in financial markets where its effectiveness has been shown. When compared to other machine learning methods, hybrid models like CNN-LSTM have shown to be the most effective and efficient. Nevertheless, there is a lack of thorough comparative research across deep learning hybrids, which makes it difficult to validate these claims empirically, especially in the diversified and extremely unpredictable FX market. To fill that void, this research builds a generic CNN-LSTM model to predict key currency pairs and compares it to another hybrid deep learning model. The objective is to evaluate and strengthen the reliability of deep learning techniques for FOREX forecasting. In order to maximize the generalizability of the model, this study mimics a categorization scenario using stringent cross-validation procedures. Important measures, including accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, were used to assess the models’ performance. The results show that there is a performance hierarchy, with CNN-LSTM, CNN-RNN. These findings highlight the need to evaluate deep learning models in different real-world contexts. In conclusion, this study highlights the difficulties of FOREX forecasting and the necessity for further evaluations of the predictive power of machine learning models in an ever-changing market. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Towards a Partial Computation offloading in In-networking Computing-Assisted MEC: A Digital Twin Approach

This paper addresses the problem of minimizing latency with partial computation offloading within Industrial Internet-of-Things (IoT) systems in in-network computing (COIN)-assisted Multiaccess Edge Computing (C-MEC) via ultra-reliable and low latency communications (URLLC) links. We propose a digital twin (DT) scheme for a multiuser scenario, allowing collaborative partial task offloading from user equipment (UE) to COIN-aided nodes or MEC. Specifically, we formulate the problem as joint task offloading decision, ratio and resource allocation. We employ game theory to create a low-complexity distributed offloading scheme in which the task offloading decision problem is modelled as an exact potential game. Double Deep Q-Network (DDQN) is utilized within the game to proactively predict optimal offloading ratio and resource allocation. This approach optimizes resource allocation across the whole system and enhances the robustness of the computing framework, ensuring efficient execution of computation-intensive services. Additionally, it addresses centralized approaches and UE resource contention issues, thus ensuring faster and more reliable communication. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Business intelligence (BI) encompasses the tools and uses to gather, combine, examine, and display data about a specific firm. Using historical and current efficiency comparisons, these structures assist in formulating plans and choices to achieve better outcomes in the future. Additionally, it helps firms determine which business issues and industry trends require attention. It has several benefits, such as increasing responsibility and efficiency, but it carries some disadvantages, such as being expensive, complicated, and time-consuming to adopt. Using big data-driven approaches to optimize talent recruitment is essential for improved decisions in the cutthroat world of BI. The efficacy of many machine learning algorithms to increase recruiting performance and accuracy is compared in this investigation. For optimizing, cross-validating, and hyperparameter modification were employed. The Random Forest (RF) algorithm has the greatest accuracy (92.9%), trailed by the Gradient Boosting Classifying system ( $\mathbf{92.6 \%}$ ) and the neural network (NNs) models ( ${92}.7 \%$ ). These findings imply that sophisticated ML algorithms, in particular RF and NN, can greatly improve BI platforms' hiring procedures. Recruiters can benefit from this research's insightful recommendations for incorporating advanced ML methods into talent recruitment plans.

On the Effectiveness of Function-Level Vulnerability Detectors for Inter-Procedural Vulnerabilities

Software vulnerabilities are a major cyber threat and it is important to detect them. One important approach to detecting vulnerabilities is to use deep learning while treating a program function as a whole, known as function-level vulnerability detectors. However, the limitation of this approach is not understood. In this paper, we investigate its limitation in detecting one class of vulnerabilities known as inter-procedural vulnerabilities, where the to-be-patched statements and the vulnerability-triggering statements belong to different functions. For this purpose, we create the first Inter-Procedural Vulnerability dataset (InterPVD) based on C/C++ open-source software, and we propose a tool dubbed VulTrigger for identifying vulnerability-triggering statements across functions. Experimental results show that VulTrigger can effectively identify vulnerability-triggering statements and inter-procedural vulnerabilities. Our findings include: (i) inter-procedural vulnerabilities are prevalent with an average of 2.8 inter-procedural layers;and (ii) function-level vulnerability detectors are much less effective in detecting to-be-patched functions of inter-procedural vulnerabilities than detecting their counterparts of intra-procedural vulnerabilities.
