Gastric cancer is a major global health issue characterized by high incidence and mortality rates. Early gastric cancer has a more favorable prognosis, yet most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage due to subtle symptoms and limited diagnostic methods. Currently, the screening for therapeutic targets in early gastric cancer primarily relies on CRISPR-Cas9, next-generation sequencing, and advanced bioinformatics analysis, facing challenges such as off-target effects, high costs, complex data interpretation, and the elucidation of causal relationships. In this study, the Geneformer model was pre-trained on a large-scale corpus and fine-tuned on an early gastric cancer dataset to identify early gastric cancer cells. Potential therapeutic targets were identified through simulated gene perturbations and disease treatments, and their effectiveness was validated using KEGG pathway enrichment analysis and biological experimental results. After rigorous quality control and preprocessing of the data, the Geneformer model achieved excellent performance in the cell state annotation task, with an accuracy of 93.47% and an F1 score of 0.9187. Additionally, the model identified 445 potential therapeutic targets for early gastric cancer, such as TFF1, TFF2, and GKN2, which were enriched in gastric cancer-related pathways, with some targets validated by biological experiments. In summary, the proposed methodologies are capable of effectively identifying early gastric cancer cells and discovering potential therapeutic targets.

Understanding the Long-Distance Travel Mobility of Passengers Based on Big Railway data: Travel Network and Motif Perspectives

With the booming construction of new railway lines and stations in China, the number of railway passengers is increasing. The large railway population shows certain mobility characteristics that we are interested in clarifying. Based on the theory of complex networks, this paper proposes a novel method to identify travel patterns from big railway data, which associates travel motifs with travel networks. This paper derives some meaningful results from the data analysis of more than three million railway travel records of a city in China. These results illustrate that higher motif complexity leads to a narrower travel radius for motif-based subnets. The higher the stability of the travel sequence is, the shorter the average length of the sequence. Four types of travel patterns are identified and classified by analyzing the motif of travel activities, i.e., labor, tourism, surrounding and commuting. The methodology and findings presented in this paper contribute to a better understanding of the long-distance travel mobility of railway passengers. The method designed in this paper can also be used to analyze traffic data from airlines, buses, subways, etc. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Survival analysis of Kasturi tobacco plants in Jember district using the stratified cox and extended cox models.

In 2022, tobacco was the top export commodity, generating $106.3 million in sales. East Java Province contributes significantly to Indonesia's tobacco production, with an annual output of 188.6 thousand tons. Jember Regency is the area in East Java Province which is a Kasturi tobacco cultivation area. The productivity of Kasturi tobacco continues to decrease due to several factors that can affect the survival of the tobacco. This study aims to analyze the survival of Kasturi tobacco by creating stratified Cox and extended Cox models in order to handle factors that cannot fulfill the proportional hazard assumption. Based on the results of the analysis, the stratified Cox model is the best model with AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748 respectively, while the extended Cox has AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732 respectively. Variables that can significantly affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco are the variable concentration of ZA fertilizer, pesticide concentration. The addition of ZA fertilizer must be appropriate, because if excessive it can cause poisoning of tobacco plants. Likewise with pesticides, if excessive it will cause damage to the leaves. This policy can increase the productivity of Kasturi tobacco. Then, Jember Regency contributes greater export capacity. • This paper aims to determine the factors that affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco plants in Jember • By using the extended Cox model, the best one is obtained using the Heaviside function with AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732, respectively • The stratified Cox model is better than the extended Cox model, which has AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748, respectively

Scientists have become intrigued by the capacity of two solid components to dissolve in a conventional fluid to enhance the thermal efficiency of novel hybrid nanofluids. The Bejan number and entropy formation of three-dimensional hybrid Al2O3 − Cu/H2O nanoparticles flowing via a stretching/shrinking bidirectional exponential plate are investigated in this research while taking into account thermal radiation and the Hall Effect. In the heat equation, the Joule heating and Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model are contemplated. Through using proper similarity transformations, equations involving momentum and heat transfer are simplified into ordinary differential equations. The Homotopy analysis approach is used to solve these equations using the computer software MATHEMATICA. By resolving the flow limitations on temperature and velocity, the entropy production is computed. Using graphical demonstration, the impact of various parameters such as suction/injection parameter, Brinkman number, magnetic parameter, stretching/shrinking parameter, temperature ratio parameter on flow, thermal relaxation parameter, temperature exponent parameter, Hall effect parameter, on velocity, temperature, entropy production, and Bejan number has been thoroughly discussed. The local Nusselt number and skin friction can also be identified for practical reasons for various approximations of physical parameters. The outcomes specify that the tangential velocity and redial velocity decrease for greater values of injection and suction parameters. The temperature profile falls for larger values of the suction parameter and rises for greater values of the thermal relaxation parameter and injection parameter. Entropy production develops when the magnetic parameter is improved. Bejan number was reduced in response to rising magnetic parameter values. © 2023 The Author(s)

We analyzed the X-ray photoemission spectra (XPS) of carbon 1s states in graphene and oxygen-intercalated graphene grown on SiC(0001) using Bayesian spectroscopy. To realize highly accurate spectral decomposition of the XPS spectra, we proposed a framework for discovering physical constraints from the absence of prior quantified physical knowledge, in which we designed the prior probabilities based on the found constraints and the physically required conditions. This suppresses the exchange of peak components during replica exchange Monte Carlo iterations and makes possible to decompose XPS in the case where a reliable structure model or a presumable number of components is not known. As a result, we have successfully decomposed XPS of one monolayer (1ML), two monolayers (2ML), and quasi-freestanding 2ML (qfs-2ML) graphene samples deposited on SiC substrates with the meV order precision of the binding energy, in which the posterior probability distributions of the binding energies were obtained distinguishably between the different components of buffer layer even though they are observed as hump and shoulder structures because of their overlapping. Commercial stereo imagery has provided unprecedented planar detail (< 2 m) of the Earth’s surface. However, a number compounding factors, including view angle, convergence angle, imaging detector design, ground sampling distance (GSD), time of day/year etc., induce bias in surface reconstructions. BlackSky 1 m GSD data and its unique frame detector/telescope configuration provides a novel resource with sensor capabilities of staring, and motion imagery/video to benchmark existing commercial digital elevation model (DEM) products. The BlackSky constellation with its high repeat collection capability also allows for dense imagery collection and enables multi-view stereo reconstruction. We evaluated the ability of BlackSky data for vegetation surface reconstruction using a multi-view stereo methodology and compared products to airborne LiDAR data. We found an Absolute Median Error of 1.77 m and normalized mean absolute deviation (NMAD) of 1.54 m in areas with sufficient volume of available digital surface models (DSMs). Our results indicate the potential benefit of this workflow and resulting products for vegetation analyses.

The Industrial Internet of Things or Industry 4.0 efficiently enhances the manufacturing process in terms of raising productivity, system performance, cost reduction, and building large-scale systems. It enables the connection of numerous heterogeneous devices and sensors into the internet network through the utilization of revolutionary techniques that transfer the manufacturing paradigm to intelligent processes. The traditional industrial internet of things adopts centralized architectures and complex encryption algorithms that suffer from several cyber-security threats and lead to data leakage, privacy disclosure, and high computational and communicational costs. In our work, we proposed a decentralized, efficient, low-power, scalable, secure, privacy-preserving, and trusting architecture based on a private blockchain network/smart contract and interplanetary file system technology for the Al-NajafyIraq oil refinery factory. That enables autonomous working and provides a high level of security authentication and privacy preservation, P2P communication, remote access, immutability and information backtracking. Traditional blockchain technology has storage limitation issues, most recent works adopted external servers or the cloud for storage purposes. Our proposed scheme addresses the limitations of blockchain data storage by adopting an interplanetary file system (IPFS) network;provides an efficient data encryption mechanism at the perceptual layer by adopting a lightweight encryption algorithm, high-performance, and ultra-low-power consumption ARM Cortex-M microcontroller. In addition, our architecture succeeds in merging blockchain technology, IoTs, and an IPFS with the oil refinery as an industrial application area. Moreover, it provides an efficient framework that resists common cyber-security attacks and realizes cyber-security requirements represented by data availability, integrity, and confidentiality. © 2022 IEEE.

ImplantFormer: Vision Transformer based Implant Position Regression Using Dental CBCT data

Implant prosthesis is the most appropriate treatment for dentition defect or dentition loss, which usually involves a surgical guide design process to decide the implant position. However, such design heavily relies on the subjective experiences of dentists. In this paper, a transformer-based Implant Position Regression Network, ImplantFormer, is proposed to automatically predict the implant position based on the oral CBCT data. We creatively propose to predict the implant position using the 2D axial view of the tooth crown area and fit a centerline of the implant to obtain the actual implant position at the tooth root. Convolutional stem and decoder are designed to coarsely extract image features before the operation of patch embedding and integrate multi-level feature maps for robust prediction, respectively. As both long-range relationship and local features are involved, our approach can better represent global information and achieves better location performance. Extensive experiments on a dental implant dataset through five-fold cross-validation demonstrated that the proposed ImplantFormer achieves superior performance than existing methods. Integrated Public Transport Timetable Coordination and Vehicle Scheduling with Even Headways

Timetabling and vehicle scheduling are two important activities in public transport (PT) operations planning. Traditionally, the timetabling problem is solved first before proceeding to the vehicle scheduling problem. The integration of these two problems can help further reduce the total operation cost and improve the level of service, especially when timetables of different bus lines are well-coordinated at transfer stations. This work addresses the integrated PT timetable coordination and vehicle scheduling problem while ensuring that each PT line is dispatched with an even headway. We first separately formulate two integer linear programming models for the timetable coordination and vehicle scheduling problems. Next, the two models are combined into a bi-objective integer linear programming model for the integrated timetable coordination and vehicle scheduling problem. For small size PT networks, the model can be solved by using an ɛ -constraint method, together with off-the-shelf optimization solvers. For large-size problems, two constraint reduction procedures are developed to reduce the number of redundant constraints so as to reduce the computation complexity and improve the solution process. Finally, the models and solution method are applied to a numerical example and a real-world bus rapid transit (BRT) network in Chengdu, China. Computation results show that the solution generated by the sequential optimization approach is usually dominated by the Pareto-optimal solutions generated by the integrated optimization approach. Our findings suggest that it is not a wise decision to use the solution generated by the sequential optimization approach or the solution with the minimum fleet size generated by the integrated optimization approach. For practical implementation, it is recommended to choose the solution that has a fleet size of one more vehicle than the minimum fleet size. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
