A collision detection algorithm based on capsule bounding volume (CBV for short) is presented improve the efficiency of Collision detection in three-dimensional scene. This algorithm use CBV to encircle roles and achieve collision detection between the virtual characters and static objects and dynamic objects in the scene. It includes collision detection between CBV and AABB, triangular and capsule. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that this algorithm can improve real time for collision detection. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

In order to effectively eliminate outliers and noise points in 3D scattered point cloud, a denoising smoothing algorithm which is the combination of removing outliers algorithm and trilateral filter is proposed. This is accomplished by rejecting outliers, correcting the normal direction and moving noise points along the modified normal direction within local adaptive neighborhoods. First, the outliers are removed by the method of mathematical statistics, on this basis, estimating normal direction and curvature of point cloud by covariance analysis method. Then, correct the normal direction by combining trilateral filter weighting factor with adaptive optimal neighborhood function. Finally, calculate position offset of data points in the direction of normal amendment by trilateral filter weighting factor in order to smooth the point cloud. Experimental results show that the proposed method is simple and effective, successfully removing noise from point cloud while preserving inherent geometric features. © 2014 ISSN 1881-803X.

Thanks for the precision engineering technology, motor, especially Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor can be made as Micro-motor. However, any imprecise rotor parts of this meticulous motor could lead to undesirable vibration and acoustic noise (Yu et al. in 3D influence of unbalanced magnetic pull induced by misalignment rotor in PMSM, APMRC2012, 2012;Bi et al. in Influence of axial asymmetrical rotor in PMAC motor operation, ICEMS, 2011;Bi et al. in Influence of rotor eccentricity to unbalanced-magnetic-pull in pm synchronous motor, ICEMS06, 2006). This paper presents five types of rotor faults design and vibration study of these five types of faults in motor is conducted. Based on the vibration pattern, fuzzy mathematics is employed to classify these five types of rotor faults. © 2014 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most prevalent form of progressive degenerative dementia and it has a high socio-economic impact in Western countries therefore is one of the most active research areas today. Its diagnosis is sometimes made by excluding other dementias and definitive confirmation must be done through a post-mortem study of the brain tissue of the patient. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the improvement of early diagnosis of AD and its degree of severity from an automatic analysis performed by noninvasive intelligent methods. The methods selected in this case are Automatic Spontaneous Speech Analysis (ASSA) and Emotional Temperature (ET) that have the great advantage of being non invasive low cost and without any side effects. The developed system obtains hopeful results for early diagnosis. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

According to the former research achievements about load balancing strategy, considering the load distribution, the load condition of service node and the number of user connections, we propose a load balancing strategy based on middleware. According to the cluster service load and the number of user connections, the requests from user will be reasonably allocated to each service node by using middleware technology, then service node and requested user establish a temporary connection, after all the requests of this user are processed by this node. Experiments show that, this strategy reduces the number of requests for allocation, improves the resource utilization rate of cluster system and load balancing degree, and effectively suppresses the load jitter of system. © 2014 ISSN 1881-803X.

EXTP is a science mission designed to study the state of matter under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. Primary goals are the determination of the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, the measurement of QED effects in highly magnetized star, and the study of accretion in the strong-field regime of gravity. Primary targets include isolated and binary neutron stars, strong magnetic field systems like magnetars, and stellar-mass and supermassive black holes. The mission carries a unique and unprecedented suite of state-of-the-art scientific instruments enabling for the first time ever the simultaneous spectral-timing-polarimetry studies of cosmic sources in the energy range from 0.5-30 keV (and beyond). Key elements of the payload are: the Spectroscopic Focusing Array (SFA) - a set of 11 X-ray optics for a total effective area of ∼0.9 m2 and 0.6 m2 at 2 keV and 6 keV respectively, equipped with Silicon Drift Detectors offering 2, between 6 and 10 keV, and spectral resolution better than 250 eV;the Polarimetry Focusing Array (PFA) - a set of 2 X-ray telescope, for a total effective area of 250 cm2 at 2 keV, equipped with imaging gas pixel photoelectric polarimeters;the Wide Field Monitor (WFM) - a set of 3 coded mask wide field units, equipped with position-sensitive Silicon Drift Detectors, each covering a 90 degrees × 90 degrees field of view. The eXTP international consortium includes major institutions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Universities in China, as well as major institutions in several European countries and the United States. The predecessor of eXTP, the XTP mission concept, has been selected and funded as one of the so-called background missions in the Strategic Priority Space Science Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences since 2011. The strong European participation has significantly enhanced the scientific capabilities of eXTP. The planned launch date of the mission is earlier than 2025. © 2016 SPIE.

To investigate the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes (T2D) to high resolution, the GoT2D and T2D-GENES consortia catalogued variation from whole-genome sequencing of 2,657 European individuals and exome sequencing of 12,940 individuals of multiple ancestries. Over 27M SNPs, indels, and structural variants were identified, including 99% of low-frequency (minor allele frequency [MAF] 0.1-5%) non-coding variants in the whole-genome sequenced individuals and 99.7% of low-frequency coding variants in the whole-exome sequenced individuals. Each variant was tested for association with T2D in the sequenced individuals, and, to increase power, most were tested in larger numbers of individuals (>80% of low-frequency coding variants in ~82 K Europeans via the exome chip, and ~90% of low-frequency non-coding variants in ~44 K Europeans via genotype imputation). The variants, genotypes, and association statistics from these analyses provide the largest reference to date of human genetic information relevant to T2D, for use in activities such as T2D-focused genotype imputation, functional characterization of variants or genes, and other novel analyses to detect associations between sequence variation and T2D.

In beacon-enabled LR-WPANs, the high reliability of beacon frame transmission is required because all transmissions are controlled by the information in the beacon frame. However, the process for the beacon-loss scenario is not carefully considered in the standard. The method proposed in this paper allows a node not receiving a beacon frame to keep transmit its pending frames only within the minimum period of CAP based on the previously received beacon frame while the standard prevents the node from sending any pending frame during a whole superframe. The method is extensively simulated and proven the enhancements on the performances. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht(Outside the USA).

Clustering analysis, as a practical data mining method, has wide-ranging applications in many fields. But because of different original data resources, clustering results of different data distribution patterns and applicable clustering evaluation methods are different from each other. Aiming at different data distribution patterns, only reasonable clustering evaluation methods can achieve a better recognition of different clustering results for realizing the application value of clustering technology. In this paper, the combination clustering evaluation model is constructed form three angles, through clustering experiment of different artificial simulated data distribution patterns, comparative analysis draw a conclusion that the combination clustering evaluation model constructed is reasonable, and according to applicable clustering and clustering evaluation methods based on different data distribution patterns, the optimization clustering process is constructed for improving the effectiveness and interpretability of different clustering results.
