Understanding crowd behavior is essential in mass religious gatherings for crowd managers. Surveillance devices such as CCTV provide data in real time in the form of raw video, while the crowd manager estimates the crowd state from video based on their experience. In this study, we propose a methodology to automate the crowd parameter estimation process using an object detection model and tracking algorithm, which will assist crowd managers in estimating the state of the crowd. There are two key contributions to this study. First, the study proposes a methodology to automate crowd parameter estimation from video in a mass religious gathering. Second, the existing state-of-the-art object detection model has been improved to adapt to the challenging situation of mass religious gatherings with high density, high diversity crowd videos. CCTV videos from Kumbh Mela 2016 are used for this study. © 2023, Transportation Research Group of India.

In response to growing security concerns and the increasing demand for face recognition (FR) technology in various sectors, this research explores the application of deep learning techniques, specifically pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models, in the field of FR. The study harnesses the power of five pre-trained CNN models—DenseNet201, ResNet152V2, MobileNetV2, SeResNeXt, and Xception—for robust feature extraction, followed by SoftMax classification. A novel weighted average ensemble model, meticulously optimized through a grid search technique, is introduced to augment feature extraction and classification efficacy. Emphasizing the significance of robust data pre-processing, encompassing resizing, data augmentation, splitting, and normalization, the research endeavors to fortify the reliability of FR systems. Methodologically, the study systematically investigates hyperparameters across deep learning models, fine-tuning network depth, learning rate, activation functions, and optimization methods. Comprehensive evaluations unfold across diverse datasets to discern the effectiveness of the proposed models. Key contributions of this work encompass the utilization of pre-trained CNN models for feature extraction, extensive evaluation across multiple datasets, the introduction of a weighted average ensemble model, emphasis on robust data pre-processing, systematic hyperparameter tuning, and the utilization of comprehensive evaluation metrics. The results, meticulously analyzed, unveil the superior performance of the proposed method, consistently outshining alternative models across pivotal metrics, including Recall, Precision, F1 Score, Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC), and Accuracy. Notably, the proposed method attains an exceptional accuracy of 99.48% on the labeled faces in the wild (LFW) dataset, surpassing erstwhile state-of-the-art benchmarks. Leveraging D-NN trained on neuroimaging data, we can effectively estimate the chronological ages of normal persons;this projected brain age has potential as a biomarker for identifying age-related disorders. The suggested technique employs a CNN cascade network from DL and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm from ML (SVM). These techniques have been employed to train MRI scans of the brain, classifying them into regular (unaffected by illness), Alzheimer’s disorder (AD), and neurocognitive disability. That we also have the ability to determine ages thanks to the age classifications on the photos. As the primary cause of death globally, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) demand precise and timely prediction to enhance patient outcomes. Other examples of conventional approaches for CVD prediction include statistical models as well as machine learning models such as a single model that often struggle to address complex and comprehensive data from clinical records and Medical Imaging. To address these issues, the concept proposed here is to integrate the medical imaging data with clinical data as new apart from utilizing the hybrid CNN-GRU model to predict cardiovascular diseases with higher accuracy and interpretability. While the GRU module deals with the time sequences of clinical data including past history and other test results, the CNN module is to extract the spatial features from the medical images. Thus, by integrating these modules, it is more accurate to predict the data of the patient as a synergy of spatial and temporal arrangements. Cross-validation techniques and performance indices are used for model training and testing on a diverse data set containing imaging and other clinical-related data. Experimental results depict that the suggested hybrid CNN-GRU model performs much better than the traditional approaches and has higher levels of predicted accuracy and robustness. It is also feasible to generalize this integrated strategy to other medical disorder where multi-modal data analysis is crucial, besides enhancing the capacity to estimate CVDs. The findings underline the importance of integrating doctors' information with radiological images and applying new patterns of neural networks to augmenting clinical judgment. GPT is a large language model (LLM) derived from natural language processing that can generate a human-like text using machine learning. However, these models raise questions about authenticity and reliability of material, particularly in fields such as journalism, social media, and academia, despite their usefulness for automating text-based tasks. Detecting machine-generated text is thus an important difficulty in ensuring content integrity. This study investigates the use of huge language models as a technique for recognizing machine-generated material. The author proposes a comprehensive detection model by evaluating the language patterns, syntactic structures, and stylistic traits that separate AI-generated literature from human writing. In addition, this research investigate the possibilities of fine-tuning models designed expressly for text identification tasks and evaluate their performance using LLM - Detect AI Generated Text datasets. In digital ecosystems, LLMs are effective at detecting AI-generated text, providing a novel approach for content moderation, academic integrity checks, and synthetic media detection. An increasingly AI-powered future will require a model that can discriminate between human and machine-generated writing in real-time. According to experimental findings, the CNN architecture's design combined with the use of DistilBERT embeddings allows for the effective and efficient classification of AI generated text data, achieving an exceptional 98% accuracy rate. © 2024 IEEE.

HiGPT: Heterogeneous Graph Language Model

Heterogeneous graph learning aims to capture complex relationships and diverse relational semantics among entities in a heterogeneous graph to obtain meaningful representations for nodes and edges. Recent advancements in heterogeneous graph neural networks (HGNNs) have achieved state-of-the-art performance by considering relation heterogeneity and using specialized message functions and aggregation rules. However, existing frameworks for heterogeneous graph learning have limitations in generalizing across diverse heterogeneous graph datasets. Most of these frameworks follow the "pre-train" and "fine-tune" paradigm on the same dataset, which restricts their capacity to adapt to new and unseen data. This raises the question: "Can we generalize heterogeneous graph models to be well-adapted to diverse downstream learning tasks with distribution shifts in both node token sets and relation type heterogeneity?" To tackle those challenges, we propose HiGPT, a general large graph model with Heterogeneous graph instructiontuning paradigm. Our framework enables learning from arbitrary heterogeneous graphs without the need for any fine-tuning process from downstream datasets. To handle distribution shifts in heterogeneity, we introduce an in-context heterogeneous graph tokenizer that captures semantic relationships in different heterogeneous graphs, facilitating model adaptation. We incorporate a large corpus of heterogeneity-aware graph instructions into our HiGPT, enabling the model to effectively comprehend complex relation heterogeneity and distinguish between various types of graph tokens. Furthermore, we introduce the Mixture-of-Thought (MoT) instruction augmentation paradigm to mitigate data scarcity by generating diverse and informative instructions. This letter is a brief summary of a series of IEEE TIV's decentralized and hybrid workshops (DHWs) on Federated Intelligence for Intelligent Vehicles. The DR becomes increasingly common, there is a need to automatically extract and classify disease severity. Due to diabetes problems, about 2% of people with this disease become completely blind, and DR complications make him 10% visually impaired if he has diabetes for 15 years. Furthermore, it plays an important role in the progression of blindness in middle-aged and older adults. If the disease is not recognized as soon as possible, patients can experience a severe stage of irreversible blindness. The shortage of ophthalmologists is a serious problem for the growing number of diabetic patients. Hard exudates must be found to screen and assist in disease monitoring and diagnosis. Therefore, Lloyd's clustering technique was used in this work. © 2023 IEEE.

Randomized Submanifold Subgradient Method for Optimization over Stiefel Manifolds

Optimization over Stiefel manifolds has found wide applications in many scientific and engineering domains. Despite considerable research effort, high-dimensional optimization problems over Stiefel manifolds remain challenging, and the situation is exacerbated by nonsmooth objective functions. The purpose of this paper is to propose and study a novel coordinate-type algorithm for weakly convex (possibly nonsmooth) optimization problems over high-dimensional Stiefel manifolds, named randomized submanifold subgradient method (RSSM). Similar to coordinate-type algorithms in the Euclidean setting, RSSM exhibits low per-iteration cost and is suitable for high-dimensional problems. We prove that RSSM converges to the set of stationary points and attains Ε-stationary points with respect to a natural stationarity measure in O(Ε−4) iterations in both expectation and the almost-sure senses. To the best of our knowledge, these are the first convergence guarantees for coordinate-type algorithms to optimize nonconvex nonsmooth functions over Stiefel manifolds. An important technical tool in our convergence analysis is a new Riemannian subgradient inequality for weakly convex functions on proximally smooth matrix manifolds, which could be of independent interest. Nature-inspired algorithms have become increasingly prevalent in engineering and mathematical optimization due to their efficacy and adaptability. Among these algorithms, the Monarch Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (MBOA) is a population-based metaheuristic, characterized by its simple implementation and the utilization of the Migration Operator (MO) and Butterfly Adjusting Rate (BAR) to guide the search path of butterflies. However, the algorithm can suffer from susceptibility to local optima traps, early convergence, and inferior performance due to a lack of random factors. To address these challenges, we propose an Enhanced Monarch Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (E-MBOA) that incorporates Ranking-based Selection (RBS) and a Random Jumping strategy. The RBS prioritizes the search direction based on individuals' ranks in the population, enhancing the search process by encouraging the exploration of feasible areas with lower objective function values. By employing the Random Jumping strategy, the process can effectively investigate the search space and avoid local optima, thus mitigating early convergence issues. The proposed model is assessed on a variety of mechanical and engineering design problems. Results are contrasted to other optimization approaches published in the literature, demonstrating that the proposed model offers faster convergence to global optima and effectively avoids local optima traps. E-MBOA's performance validates its feasibility and effectiveness as a powerful tool for resolving complex engineering optimization problems. © 2023 IEEE.
