Intelligent Traffic Management systems (ITMS) play a crucial role in advancing smart city applications by addressing the rapid increase in road traffic due to the growing number of vehicles. Effective real-time traffic prediction is essential to avoid congestion, yet existing systems often struggle with high delays and insufficient accuracy. This paper introduces an innovative ITMS based on a Hybrid Convolutional Neural Network (HCNN) to overcome these challenges. The proposed system integrates numerous smart devices, including smart vehicles, with an edge computing framework where the HCNN model is deployed. The HCNN combines Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks to enhance prediction accuracy and reduce latency. Experimental results demonstrate that the HCNN model achieves up to 95% prediction accuracy while reducing delays by up to 50% compared to conventional methods. These improvements are significant for smart city applications, ensuring timely and precise traffic management. The study validates the effectiveness of the HCNN model in improving traffic prediction and proposes its potential for broader smart city implementation. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

One of the most important aspects of environmental sustainability is water quality monitoring. The ecology is impacted by poor water quality in addition to aquatic life. With the volume of data being collected from satellite systems, the issue of effectively and automatically extracting water bodies is growing more pressing. One of the most important things to do for managing and safeguarding water resources is to conduct extensive monitoring of water quality parameters, or WQPs. It is still difficult to monitor optically inactive WQPs in inland waters, such as total nitrogen (TN), ammoniacal nitrogen (AN), and total phosphorus (TP). Water quality (WQ) classification and prediction can be greatly enhanced with the use of artificial intelligence (AI). This research proposes novel method in healthcare detection by water quality analysis based on classification utilising ML model. Input is collected as healthcare dataset based on water quality as well as processed for noise removal and normalisation. The processed data features are extracted and classified utilising reinforcement Gaussian stacked layer network with variational fuzzy Markov basis neural network. In order to suggest best course of action for the water bodies, it is imperative that any study look into the spatiotemporal changes of the dominant water quality parameters (WQPs). WQP concentrations have typically been determined by extensive fieldwork. These findings could help identify and regulate non-point source pollution, offer a large-scale spatial picture of the water quality, and pinpoint vulnerable locations and times of water pollution. Experimental analysis is carried out for various water sample dataset in terms of detection accuracy, mean precision, recall, F-1 score and AUC. The proposed technique obtained 97% of detection accuracy, 95% of recall, 91% of F-1 score, 96% of AUC, and 94% of MAP. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

We propose a semantic template-based distributed representation for the convolutional neural network called Semantic Template-based Convolutional Neural Network (STCNN) for text categorization that imitates the perceptual behavior of human comprehension. STCNN is a highly automatic approach that learns semantic templates that characterize a domain from raw text and recognizes categories of documents using a semantic-infused convolutional neural network that allows a template to be partially matched through a statistical scoring system. Our experiment results show that STCNN effectively classifies documents in about 140,000 Chinese news articles into predefined categories by capturing the most prominent and expressive patterns and achieves the best performance among all compared methods for Chinese topic classification. Finally, the same knowledge can be directly used to perform a semantic analysis task. © 2023 held by the owner/author(s). Publication rights licensed to ACM.

Smart devices equipped with embedded systems, including CPUs, sensors, and communication hardware, utilize web connectivity to gather and relay data from their environment, forming a segment of the Internet of Things network. Sensors in an IoT network are resource-constrained devices, but traditional data security techniques use complicated security mechanisms with long processing and reaction times, which reduce the network's overall lifespan. As a consequence, we proposed an EELWEP (energy efficient light weight encryption process) system to keep the data acquired by each sensor node private. When using this strategy, the secret key is exchanged using the Diffie-Hellman method using the Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) program, and a large portion of the operations is carried out via the use of symmetric cryptography. The energy usage and calculation time on the sensor network are significantly reduced as a result of this method. The suggested system is simulated, and their results are analysed using a variety of parameters in comparison to existing benchmark schemes. Comparing the suggested technique to the current approaches reveals that it outperforms the alternatives in the vast majority of situations studied. © 2023 IEEE.

Images photographed in foggy weather usually have poor visibility. To mitigate this problem researchers have come up with various image dehazing techniques. Now, more than ever, high-quality images that can be used to glean maximum information from autonomous systems are in high demand. This research work uses different Deep Learning (DL) architectures to draw out essential details from the picture and localize the information recovered to reduce the haze from the picture. The paper investigates to remove the hazes from the dehazed images using DL techniques. The first task of this proposed work attempts three pre-processing techniques namely, air light estimation, contextual regularization and boundary constraint. The second task of this work is to identify the suitable DL model to extract clear images from dehazed images. Evaluation metrics are PSNR value and SSIM value are used to estimate the values of dehazed images compared with clear images. Experimental results proves that AOD-Net outperforms good result with respect to PSNR value. © 2023 IEEE.

Asymptotic theory for the regularized system identification has received increasing interests in recent *** this paper,for the finite impulse response(FIR) model and filtered white noise inputs,we show the convergence in distribution of the Stein's unbiased risk estimator(SURE) based hyper-parameter estimator and find factors that influence its convergence *** particular,we consider the ridge regression case to obtain closed-form expressions of the limit of the regression matrix and the variance of the limiting distribution of the SURE based hyper-parameter estimator,and then demonstrate their relation numerically.

We focus on the self-supervised discovery of manipulation concepts that can be adapted and reassembled to address various robotic tasks. We propose that the decision to conceptualize a physical procedure should not depend on how we name it (semantics) but rather on the significance of the informativeness in its representation regarding the low-level physical state and state changes. We model manipulation concepts - discrete symbols - as generative and discriminative goals and derive metrics that can autonomously link them to meaningful sub-trajectories from noisy, unlabeled demonstrations. Specifically, we employ a trainable codebook containing encodings (concepts) capable of synthesizing the end-state of a sub-trajectory given the current state - generative informativeness. Moreover, the encoding corresponding to a particular sub-trajectory should differentiate the state within and outside it and confidently predict the subsequent action based on the gradient of its discriminative score - discriminative informativeness. These metrics, which do not rely on human annotation, can be seamlessly integrated into a VQ-VAE framework, enabling the partitioning of demonstrations into semantically consistent sub-trajectories, fulfilling the purpose of discovering manipulation concepts and the corresponding sub-goal (key) states. We evaluate the effectiveness of the learned concepts by training policies that utilize them as guidance, demonstrating superior performance compared to other baselines. Additionally, our discovered manipulation concepts compare favorably to human-annotated ones while saving much manual effort. Our code is available at: https://***/InfoCon/. © 2024, CC BY.

Affective picture databases provide a standardized set of images to elicit controlled and consistent emotional responses in research participants. They are a valuable tool for studying various emotion-related phenomena across several research domains. These domains include emotion perception, emotion regulation, and the neural basis of emotion. However, affective picture databases have diverse schemas, structures, and content, making them difficult to use. Searching and retrieving optimal pictures relevant to affective stimulation may be challenging and time-consuming. In this context, we surveyed domain experts about their practices and experiences working with affective multimedia databases such as IAPS, NAPS, OASIS, GAPED, and others. The survey identified a need for novel data observatory software. This finding motivates the authors' intention to develop and validate such software platform that relies on AI. Such a platform would describe better, retrieve, and integrate various semi-structured affective multimedia datasets. The results prominently indicate the overwhelming dissatisfaction regarding stimuli content diversity and cultural bias, specifically regarding emotional and semantic context. The main driver of satisfaction from users of existing automated retrieval software is the quality of semantic descriptors available. This points to the direction AI should take in novel data observatory software. This survey follows up on a similar survey conducted ten years ago and explores the differences in researchers' opinions and experiences during that time. Public bus stops in India are becoming more crowded due to the country's fast population expansion. People wait a long time for buses to come, then suddenly congregate around them when they do, packing the buses with people and pushing them up into the footboards, which causes accidents. An additional concern of overcrowding is theft. All of this is the result of numerous bus stops not having adequate information on when busses would arrive. The proposed work paves a very important role for the passengers. The passengers will be provided with the information of the arrival of next bus, seat occupancy and the total passengers inside the bus. The information about the seat occupancy, in-passengers and out-passengers is done with the help of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags. The arrival of the next bus is determined by calculating the duration of the buses that are near using RFID readers placed in different bus stations. The count and the frequency will be interfaced in the web application. The passengers can check the application to know the occupancy and today's society where people can catch the right bus at the station and at the right time. This will solve the problems like waiting in bus stops and wasting time and going in a crowded bus. © 2024 IEEE.

Reinforcement learning, a subset of machine learning, encompasses the process by which an agent learns through trial-And-error feedback to anticipate its subsequent actions. Its versatility extends across various domains, with gaming being a prominent application. Success in gaming often pivots on the formulation of effective strategies, a task that necessitates repetitive game play, consuming valuable time, energy, and resources. This study aims tointegrate a reinforcement learning agent into gaming scenarios, replicating game dynamics and progressively refining outcomes with each iteration. By mimicking the agent's performance, human players can augment their likelihood of success. This document highlights the utilization of reinforcement learning techniques, focusing on the application of Value-based methods (Q-learning, Deep Q Network (DQN)), and Model-based methods(State-Action-Reward-State-Action (SARSA)). Q-learning from Value-based methodis designed as an off-policy algorithm, whereas SARSA from Model-based methods functions as *** outcomes presented encompass insights from previous research on Q-learning and SARSA across diverse test fields or settings. Furthermore, the proposed reinforcement learning methodologies address key facets such as data comprehension, problem categorization, algorithm identification, and algorithm implementation. © 2024 IEEE.
