In this article, the tunable Zn-doped Ga2O3 films were obtained by introducing ZnO intercalation during the film deposition using plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD). The effect of the ZnO cycle ratio on the performance of solar-blind photodetectors (PDs) was first analyzed. Compared to the pure Ga2O3, an obviously enhanced performance of Zn-doped Ga2O3 films PDs was observed by the introduction of Zn dopants, especially photocurrent or responsivity, even if the light intensity is low. A high sensitivity of Zn-doped Ga2O3 PD has been achieved with superior photoelectric characteristics for an extremely low dark current of 2.22 × 10-13 A, an ultrahigh light ON/ OFF current ratio of 2.89 × 106, and a satisfactory responsivity of 104 mA/W when the ZnO cycle ratio is 5%. The above excellent results imply that the Zn-doped Ga2O3 PD can be greatly beneficial to the application in deep-ultraviolet (DUV) detection. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

The analysis of the load position of the miniature linear guideway is very important for the dynamic friction characteristics of the linear motion equipment. In this paper, a miniature guideway dynamic friction coefficient tester will be designed. And the effect of load position, movement speed, and load on the friction force of linear guideway will be investigated according to the gapless. The experimental results show that the friction force will be dependent on the load position, load, and movement speed. Among them, the lowest frictional load position can be obtained at any speed of movement and load condition, which occurs at the central load position. The main reason for this is that the effect of the moment is minimum. On the same load position and movement speed, then load is proportional to friction. In the case of fixed load and load position, the effect of velocity on friction is positively correlated in the longitudinal offset position. The frictional force is aggravated by the unevenly distributed pressure on the inner ball due to the moment generated by the slider. At the same time, by observing the loading and the inclination angle of the carrier in the experiment with the laser displacement meter, it can be found that the inclination angle also tends to increase when the load increases. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Precision nuts are widely used in tool spindles and ball screws. Proper locking gives the bearing the right amount of pre-pressure so that the inner balls can roll steadily and inhibit friction and rapid temperature rise. If no pre-pressure is given to the bearing, it will cause the inner ball to slide irregularly and generate extremely high temperatures. In this paper, the precision nuts used are the flank locking precision locked nut and clasp locking precision locked nut for Taguchi method experiments. The control factors are nut type, Fitting clearance, and lubrication oil. Interference factors are surroundings temperature, assembly personnel, and torque wrench. The purpose is to obtain more suitable anti-loosening characteristics by the Taguchi method under the influence of interference factors and to check the thread angle and thread pitch before and after the experiment. The experimental results were analyzed form Taguchi method to find the combination of parameters with the maximum S/N and the variance analysis to obtain the significant factor. Finally, the regression equation of the loosening prevention characteristics was obtained by regression analysis, which shows that the optimized parameters effectively improve the loosening prevention characteristics and explore the interference factor on the loosening prevention characteristics of precision nuts. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Due to the exponential increase in electricity demand driven by increase in economic activities, the electrical infrastructure operation will be impacted due to the need to transmit more power to the end users. Although the existing electrical infrastructure is designed to accommodate more additional capacity, some of the transmission lines will be operating closer to their thermal capacity limits. This can cause adverse system challenges if it is not addressed in the form of building additional electrical lines that will accommodate and transmit more capacity will be planned to be introduced within the power system. However, capital constraints, servitude or right of way (RoW) acquisition, line construction duration and other legislative requirements pose a significant stumbling block in building of new lines. The utilisation of the existing lines and recycling servitude in transmitting more power remains an attractive option, provided it is carefully planned and designed. However, the process of planning and designing for capacity uprating of lines is not systematically outlined for ease of implementation. The aim of this study is that of documenting and demonstrating the systematic process to be followed when considering the uprating of an existing line considering various options that can be implemented. The results demonstrate the capacity achieved including the benefits derived within the South African power system. © 2024 IEEE.

Internal stress has emerged as a crucial factor in determining the lifetime of hydrogen permeation barrier coatings, as it influences the hydrogen isotope diffusion and crack propagation. Here, we fabricated carbon-doped TiZrN coatings under different laser outputs, and investigated the changes in hydrogen permeability due to carbon compound formation and internal stress induced by laser shock peening. Based on ToF-SIMS, the carbon penetration depth in the coating was confirmed to be up to 500 nm, depending on the laser output. Using XPS and Raman analysis, it was confirmed that doped carbon substituted nitrogen sites in TiZrN, forming TiC and ZrC, and increasing carbide content from 4.1 % to 7.4 %. Notably, as the laser output increased from 30 % to 40 %, the sp2/sp3 ratio rose from 1.33 to 2.67, and the ID/IG ratio increased from 0.81 to 1.33, indicating the formation of an amorphous carbon-embedded (Ti, Zr)(C, N) structure. This was complemented by the transformation of the TEM-SAED pattern from dot patterns to ring patterns. The internal stress in carbon-doped TiZrN coatings increased from 4.323 GPa before carburization to a maximum of 5.620 GPa. The increase in residual compressive stress led to a reduction in hydrogen permeability by up to 69 %, 57 %, and 24 % at 573 K, 673 K, and 773 K, respectively. This study advances the understanding of carbon compound formation and internal stress changes in TiZrN coatings under different laser output. It demonstrates that the formation of residual compressive stress due to laser shock peening significantly influences the hydrogen permeability by inhibiting hydrogen isotope diffusion and crack propagation within the coating. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

With the proposal of the 'dual carbon' strategy in China, heavy-duty gas turbines using clean energy have been vigorously developed. Gas turbine blades, as the main power source of gas turbines, are not only subjected to complex stress effects, but also withstand the corrosion of high-temperature and high-pressure media. During operation, they are prone to defects such as fractures, which affect the safety of gas turbine operation. Therefore, blades require regular non-destructive testing during manufacturing and operation. The internal structure of the blades is complex, and among the commonly used testing methods, radiographic testing is more suitable for blade testing. This article compares conventional X-ray and industrial CT detection methods, analyzes the shortcomings of current X-ray detection of blades, and verifies the blade industrial CT detection method explored in this article. It determines the role and advantages of industrial CT in blade detection, which is of great significance for ensuring the safe operation of heavy-duty gas turbines and promoting digital development. © 2023 IEEE.

Nanotechnology is emerging in the Philippines as there are growing industries where nanomaterials are used as part of a commercial product's components. With this, there are growing demands for testing of nano-enabled products, especially the nanoparticle geometric size measurements to support the claims declared by manufacturers, a consideration in nanosafety. Competence of analytical laboratories is of primary concern to ensure that accurate and reliable test results are used in conformity assessments in the field of nanotechnology. As per clause 7.7.2 of the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017, interlaboratory comparisons can be participated as means to compare performance with other laboratories. International interlaboratory comparison was participated by the Philippines and promising results were obtained which are at par with countries with established methodologies in testing nanomaterials. Locally, the first interlaboratory comparison was organized. Satisfactory results were obtained but areas for improvement were also determined for some of the participating laboratories. © 2024

This paper presents an approach to software development which uses a generative AI Model as compiler to translate human language requirements into high-level programming language. We propose an executable human-language module specification and a tool to support it, which has been used successfully for human-language UI test automation. We anticipate further development of this approach to enable complex software to be programmed in human language, allowing for more intuitive and efficient software development. © 2023 IEEE.

Carbon dots(CDs)have been attracted much attention and widely studied due to their excellent fluorescence(FL)properties,better biocompatibility and outstanding photo/chemical ***,the disadvantage of lower quantum yield(QY)still limits its wide ***,we reported a novel and convenient strategy to prepare photo-induced Ag/CDs(p-Ag/CDs)by irradiating the mixed Ag+and hydrophobic CDs(h-CDs)acetone solution with ultraviolet(UV)*** obtained p-Ag/CDs exhibit a greatly enhanced FL emission together with a blue shift(460 nm)than h-CDs(520 nm).The QY of p-Ag/CDs is measured to be 51.1%,which is 10.4 times higher than that of h-CDs(4.9%),indicating that photo-induced Ag modulation can effectively improve the optical properties of *** mechanisms for the FL enhancement and blue shift of h-CDs are studied in *** results prove that the greatly enhanced FL emission is from the generated Ag nanoparticles(AgNPs)by UV light irradiation based on metal-enhanced fluorescence(MEF),and the increased oxygen-contained groups in this process lead to the blue shift in CDs ***,the p-Ag/CDs exhibit higher sensitivity and selectivity for sulfide ions(S2-)detection than that of h-CDs,which have a lower response to S2-.This work not only offers a novel strategy to improve the FL properties of materials but also endows them with new functions and broadens their application fields.

The coconut shell-based industry maintains its significant role in the economic growth of the Philippines, with the country being one of the leading exporters of coconut products in the world. Currently, coconut shells are processed into charcoal briquettes and activated carbon. However, due to accidents related to the transport of these commodities, shipping lines have imposed stringent policies to ensure the safe handling of charcoal on board. Furthermore, there is an existing mandate for the accreditation of third-party laboratories for the quality testing of charcoal. The use of control materials such as Certified Reference Material (CRM) ensures the accuracy and reliability of analytical procedures conducted in the laboratory. However, the availability of CRMs is limited and are often too expensive for routine chemical testing. The use of in-house quality control material (IQCM) is a practical approach in establishing quality measurements in the laboratory. In this study, a coconut shell-based in-house quality control material was developed and characterized for proximate analysis of solid fuels. The calculated p-values using one-way ANOVA for the volatile combustible matter and ash from the homogeneity studies were 0.10 and 0.90, respectively. Furthermore, a trend analysis was established for the monthly stability study. Evaluation of homogeneity and stability data showed that the IQCM is sufficiently homogenous and stable and is fit to be used as a quality control material for routine testing of solid fuels in the absence of CRM. © 2024
