In wireless sensor network, we have 2 type of routing; one of them send data from the sensor nodes to the sink and another send some data from sink to the sensor nodes such as programming/retaking binaries, queries and commands. In this paper we present a new routing algorithm base on ID that is named ID-Leach. This protocol assigns an unique ID with binary number to each sensor nodes. This protocol evaluates by comparing Leach protocol. The evaluations show our proposal method has high energy efficiency and can improve the network lifetime.

This study examined the combinations of audio, text, and graphics that 96 paid adult volunteers selected when they followed an online demonstration of setting an alarm on a virtual cellphone on a touch-screen. The volunteers either had English as their first language (E 1st ) or not (E 2nd ), or were adults who were native English speakers but considered themselves poor readers (PR). The demonstration was divided into nine subgoals through which participants proceeded at their own pace. For half the volunteers the actions within each subgoal were animated, and for half they were labeled on a static graphic. Task accuracy ( > 90% correct) and speed were similar across fluency groups. Most people combined modalities (E 1st 63%, E 2nd 69%, PR 72%), and the less fluent readers (E 2nd and PR) included voice more often than E 1st (p < 0.05). E 1st most often chose graphic+text, whereas PR chose graphic+voice (listening preferred to reading), and E 2nd chose graphic+text+voice (listening helped their reading). Animation changed the pattern of modality combinations, increasing selection of graphic+voice at the expense of graphic+text (p < 0.05). These data suggest that many members of the public will differ from designers in their modality preferences, making it desirable to incorporate modality choices into online explanatory demonstrations.

Currently, in vivo cellular microenvironments are not well modeled using traditional cell culture methods. Microfluidic technology provides the tools to mimic in vivo environments for cell culture. We use alginate hydrogels to reversibly trap and release cells for incubation. The porous nature of alginate gels resembles the natural extracellular matrix and allows the transport of nutrients and waste. This property makes it an ideal cell trapping and culturing material. Here, we present reversible immobilization of human fetal lung fibroblasts (HFL1) and human hepatocellular liver carcinoma cell (Hep G2) inside microfluidic channels and demonstrate the possibility of co-culturing these two cell types within different alginate gel layers.

In this paper, we propose a constructive algorithm for decomposing a nonlinear system that is affine in control. The algorithm applies to general multiple input multiple output systems that do not necessarily have the same number of inputs and outputs, and leads to various normal form representations which reveal the structure at infinity, the zero dynamics and the invertibility properties.

This paper reports the development of miniaturized fuel cells for the generation of electric power from methanol. The developed fuel cells are made of flexible polymer materials and are capable of generating a peak power output density of 0.2 mW/cm 2 from a single device. The output power can be scaled up by employing an array of the developed fuel cells or by connecting them in series or parallel configurations. Due to the small dimensions of the developed device, it can be used for power supply applications for portable devices and appliances. Further, the fabrication of these fuel cells by polymer materials allows some degree of physical flexibility, allowing for stacking of multiple fuel cells in a small volume. This makes the developed devices suitable for powering wearable electronics.

We propose a novel multicast protection scheme based on a dual-homing architecture where each destination host is connected to two edge routers. Under such an architecture, the two paths from the source of the multicast session to the two edge routers provide certain protection for the data traffic from the source to the destination host. Two problems are associated with the proposed dual-homing multicast protection scheme. One is to calculate the individual survivability for a destination host that is connected to two edge routers. The other is to assign two edge routers for each destination host such that the total survivability is maximized for the multicast session subject to the port number constraint of edge routers. We propose an optimal algorithm to solve the first problem and a heuristic algorithm to solve the second problem. Through simulations, we show that the proposed heuristic algorithm achieves a performance close to the calculated lower bound.

The static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) is a series connected FACTS controller, which is capable of providing reactive power compensation to a power system. The output of an SSSC is a series injected AC voltage, which leads or lags the line current by 90/spl deg/, thus emulating a controllable inductive or capacitive reactance. SSSC can be used to reduce the equivalent line impedance and thus enhance the active power transfer capability, of the transmission line. SSSC is conventionally realized with a voltage-source converter. In this paper, an SSSC based on the current-source converter topology is proposed. In this structure, the DC-side current is regulated to a value larger than the peak value of the maximum line current. The injected voltage is controlled according to the desired reactive power compensation. The decoupled state-feedback control for the injected voltage with a separated DC current control is applied to the proposed system. The advantages:of the proposed scheme include fast dynamic response and high quality of current and voltage waveforms. The proposed SSSC has been simulated using the PSCAD/EMTDC package. The simulation results show that excellent current and voltage waveforms as well as very short response times can be obtained while operating at a low switching frequency. This makes the proposed scheme suitable for high power applications.

Partial discharge distribution patterns derived from EEC270 defined parameters are investigated. It has been found that normative references can be employed not only to monitor the discharge activity level but also to identify different type of discharge sources. This is because the distribution pattern contains information about the origin of discharge source. PD distribution of phase resolved (PRPD) and pulse height resolved (PHPD) patterns are analyzed with the aid of a computer-based PD detector. The parameters of various distribution patterns are extracted to form a feature vector or fingerprint. There is an advantage of using the combined topology of unsupervised and supervised learning neural networks to train feature vectors of large size. The results in classifying PD sources on a few samples have confirmed the usefulness of this new approach.

Summary form only given as follows. This paper reports the development of a computer approach for evaluating the general performance of stand-alone wind/photovoltaic generating system. Simple models for different system components are developed, integrated and used to predict the behavior of generating systems based on available wind/solar and load data. The model is useful for evaluating the performance of stand-alone generating system and gaining a better insight in the component sizes needed before they are built. Simulation results are presented for performance evaluation of a stand-alone generating system that has been previously designed to supply the average power demand of a typical residential house. An electric water heater model is used as a dump load, and the excess available wind/solar-generated power is used to heat the water. The heated water is used as the inlet water to the main house water heater, which is assumed to be nonelectric. It is shown that this strategy can be effective in reducing the amount of fuel used by the main residential water heater.
