The rapid adoption of cloud storage for healthcare data brings enhanced accessibility and streamlined data management, but it also introduces significant security and privacy challenges. This paper presents a multi-layered framework designed to securely manage and protect sensitive healthcare data in cloud environments. The proposed approach leverages encryption for securing data, combined with Deterministic Additive Noise (DAN) to enhance privacy during data storage and retrieval. Additionally, differential privacy mechanisms are employed to safeguard patient data during query processing, preventing unauthorized access while maintaining data utility. Key management is handled via a Hardware Security Module (HSM) to ensure the secure generation, storage, and usage of cryptographic keys. The framework also integrates secure authentication methods, including multi-factor authentication for both healthcare providers and patients, enabling secure data access and retrieval. This comprehensive approach strengthens the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of healthcare data in cloud environments, ensuring compliance with stringent privacy regulations such as HIPAA. © 2024 IEEE.

As the demand for medical services grows, the need for an efficient care process becomes increasingly urgent. Recent events have highlighted that the demad for services exceeds the available supply. In response, the focus of heaht information technology has shifted toward advanced clinical decision support systems (CDSS) to addess the critical challenges facing the medical industry. However, many healthcare organiztions lack robust clinical systems and tools. This research presents a comprehensive study of current industry applications, its related works, and provides insights into optimizing current state of the art machine learning (ML) CDSS with newer technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence-based knowledge graphs. This paper offers an overview of CDSS, details the patient treatment process and triage methods, explores the capabilities of knowledge graphs in healthcare, and underscores the need to incorporate machine learning into these processes to increase intelligence, robustness, and personalization. © 2024 IEEE.

An integration method for optimizing the use of explicit and implicit feedback in recommender systems

The recent changes in consumption patterns and the development of the Internet have increased the diversity of user feedback in the recommender system. As a result, recent studies have highlighted the complementary integration of heterogeneous feedbacks to improve the quality of recommendations. However, existing integration methods tend to be biased toward one type of feedback, which hinders proper integration, and overlook the information loss problem caused by joint training of heterogeneous feedbacks. In this work, a novel method for integrating explicit and implicit feedback (IEIF) is proposed to generate a new user preference for the personalized recommender system. The IEIF complements the data shortage by containing various types of implicit feedback, while maintaining the item ranking results derived from user-provided explicit feedback. Through extensive experiments conducted on three real-world datasets, the superior performances of the IEIF are demonstrated with improvements in precision, recall, and NDCG, with average gains of 9.92%, 8.71%, and 6.04%, respectively, over the other integration methods. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

The measurement of soil water content plays a crucial role in the management of water resources, particularly in agriculture, which consumes over 80% of the managed water supply. An accurate and efficient model for measuring water content can significantly enhance agricultural water usage efficiency, impacting irrigation management, yield prediction, and drought response strategies positively. In this paper, we develop a convolutional neural network (CNN) designed to address the inverse scattering problem by analyzing the complex reflection coefficient to estimate the volumetric water content (VWC) based on electromagnetic properties. The network is trained and tested with a synthetic dataset modeling the multilayered soil. Our results demonstrate the proposed method's efficiency in estimating soil volumetric water content, showcasing its potential as a tool for improving water resource management in agricultural settings. © 2024 IEEE.

This article proposes a novel design approach for miniaturized, highly selective, self-packaged, and wide-stopband filtering slot antennas based on C- and T-type folded substrate integrated waveguide (C-/T-FSIW) cavities. Firstly, two forms of FSIW cavity are explored and analyzed. A new coupled C-type half-mode FSIW (C-HMFSIW) cavities are developed. A filtering antenna is proposed, employing a C-HMFSIW cavity for feeding and a slot-loaded C-FSIW cavity for radiation. By introducing cross-coupling between different resonators, a radiation null (RN) is achieved. To further enhance bandwidth and frequency selectivity, a new antenna configuration is developed using a C-HMFSIW cavity for feeding and a slot-loaded T-FSIW cavity for radiation. After loading the radiation slot, the T-FSIW cavity serves as two parts: one as the main radiator and the other as a parasitic radiator opposite to it. This configuration increases antenna bandwidth and generates an additional RN. Interestingly, adjusting the position of the radiation slot allows the RN to switch between the upper and lower stopbands. The antennas proposed in this work exhibit good stopband performance and compact size. Three filtering antenna prototypes are designed, fabricated, and measured, showing consistent results between measurements and simulations. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In natural language processing, data acquisition and preprocessing techniques are significant for experiments involving training models on cleaned data. This paper describes the formation of a dataset of ugly and derogatory words in the Serbian language and the development of a web extension to analyze texts in which such words appear and then their censoring. Developing such an add-on is essential in creating a safer and healthier digital environment for young users who are just developing their Internet habits and adults who want to avoid unwanted content. It is crucial to point out that there are few software tools for natural languages with limited resources, such as the Serbian language. This software could analyze the frequency of certain foul words on different sites, which would contribute to a better understanding of the impact of such language on users. © 2024 IEEE.

The transverse flux permanent magnet machine is known for its high torque density, simple winding, and high pole number. These unique features enable its utilization in a variety of low-speed applications. However, in direct-drive applications and small-scale wind turbines, high-cogging torque is one of the main concerns. In this paper, a transverse flux permanent magnet generator with rotary structure and magnetic shunts is designed and prototyped to validate the FEM results. To study the effects of the cogging torque, the 3D magnetic equivalent circuit of the designed generator is obtained. Then, numerical analysis based on the displacement of the torque waveform is proposed to eliminate the major harmonics of the cogging torque. This displacement can be employed by skewing the stator U-shaped cores. A geometric scheme is proposed to calculate the optimum skew angle to minimize the cogging torque. FEM results indicate that the proposed method for the optimum skewed angle calculation is an effective solution to reduce the cogging torque. According to the results, by applying the skewed angle in U-shaped cores, the cogging torque decreases by 55.85%. © 2024 IEEE.

This study introduces a novel 2-dimensional (2D) spectral/temporal code, termed 2D-cyclic shift (2D-CS) code, optimized for non-coherent Spectral Amplitude Coding Optical Code Division Multiple Access (SAC-OCDMA) systems. Computational results demonstrate that the 2D-CS code has fostered the SAC-OCDMA system's performance whence spectral efficiency (SE), phase induced intensity noise (PIIN), and cardinality. Specifically, the 2D-CS code can increase cardinality by up to 117%, 89%, and 61% compared to one-dimensional CS (1D-CS), 2D-multi service (2D-MS), and 2D-diluted perfect difference (2D-DPD) codes, respectively. The system's performance was evaluated using Optisystem software, showing significant improvements in quality factor (QF) and bit error rate (BER) with LED and laser light sources for four active users at 115 dBm transmitted power and 20,000 m distance. © 2024 IEEE.

Internet of Things (IoT) defense against malicious activities heavily depends on intrusion detection systems (IDS). But unbalanced datasets and fast changing network conditions, prevalent in IoT applications, are common challenges for traditional IDS approaches. To address this challenge, in this paper we introduce a novel IDS framework for real-time IoT applications using a cost-sensitive autoencoder (CSAE) based ensemble method to enhance feature learning and IDS performance. In addition to the original data, we employ multidimensional data representation from various autoencoder layers to train machine learning (ML) models (e.g., Decision Trees (DT) and XGBoost (XGB)) which are further augmented by ensemble techniques. Moreover, we propose a strategic pretraining of the autoencoder using a different dataset, which promotes efficient information transfer and system flexibility. Empirical evaluations using two factual IoT datasets demonstrate a significant performance improvement over state-of-the-art IoT intrusion detection systems. Our IDS attains an impressive 99.99% accuracy, in multi-class configurations and a flawless 100% in binary classifications for the CICIoT2023 dataset. Similarly, for the DS2OS dataset, after finetuning the pretrained network, accuracy measures 99.88% in multi-class scenarios and 99.96% in binary classifications. The proposed cost sensitive autoencoder based weighted average (CSAE-WA) ensemble model outperformed six state-of-the-art intrusion detection techniques in a rigorous comparative analysis, demonstrating superior efficacy in addressing dataset imbalance and enhancing robustness in dynamic real-time IoT scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

The integration of gallium oxide Ga2O3 in electronic packaging has gained significant attention in recent research due to its promising properties. Despite this growing interest, the technology remains predominantly at the academic research stage, largely due to a lack of comprehensive data on the packaging process. Die attachment is a crucial factor for establishing functional and reliable semiconductor packages. This study sheds light on various factors that can affect the bonding strength of Ga2O3 chips on conventional direct bonded copper (DBC). Several samples were prepared by attaching Ga2O3 and Si chips onto gold-plated DBCs using various die attachment materials and methods. The bonding strength of each sample was evaluated through shear testing. The results indicated that surface roughness, die attachment method, die attachment material, metallization, and chip size significantly influenced the bonding strength. © 2024 IEEE.
