In this research, LiDAR sensor technology introduces a new representation of point cloud data for tasks in 3D object recognition. Point clouds provide rich information that can be utilized to predict the orientation pose of the human body. The orientation of the human body is crucial for various needs such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, and human activity monitoring. However, the inherently unstructured nature and permutation invariance of point cloud data pose significant challenges in accurately predicting human body orientation using 3D data. In this paper, we propose a solution by introducing a volumetric method based on CNN to effectively recognize human body ori-entation. A novel approach is proposed by embedding depthwise sparse convolution into 2D CNN to process voxel data of human body orientation. We evaluate the performance using KITTI data divided into four orientation classes: east, west, north, and south. Additionally, we compare it with other architectures using the ModelNet10 and ModelNet40 datasets. The comparison with other architectures shows superior performance with accuracies of 84.31 % for the KITTI dataset, 86.67 % for ModelNet10, and 75.20 % for ModelNet40. This evidence strongly supports the effectiveness of our proposed method, highlighting its potential in enhancing 3D object recognition systems significantly. © 2024 IEEE.

Traffic violations are still the biggest problem in the development of traffic in Indonesia. The three biggest violations are (1) running a red light, accounting for 42% of violations, (2) not wearing a helmet, accounting for 23% of violations, and (3) violating traffic signs, accounting for 9% of violations. The violation of not wearing a helmet is the second largest violation in Indonesia, which is due to the lack of awareness of safety while driving. Additionally, the supervision carried out by the security forces is also somewhat inadequate. Supervision is only conducted in certain areas, leading to a high number of violations. To address these issues, the YOLOS (You Only Look at Once Sequence) model, using Vision Transformer and Pytorch, was developed with the assistance of the AI City Challenge 2023 dataset. This model, trained for 200 epochs, is capable of detecting riders who wear helmets and those who do not. It achieves average precision and average recall values for objects with large area coverage in the precision and recall curves (large area), namely 38.8% and 57.2%, and on average precision with an IoU parameter of 0.5, obtaining a value of 63.5%. The implementation of the model in the Streamlit framework to create a system that can be used for detection was successfully completed. The system is capable of performing detection on a single image, webcam video, and video from RTSP CCTV. © 2024 IEEE.

The BART model is an advanced adaptation of transformers introduced by Facebook. It has incorporated elements from both BERT and GPT transformers, enabling significant advancements in language understanding and general speech processing. Utilizing both encoder and decoder components, BART proves versatile for various tasks, including translation, text completion, automatic sentence generation, entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and more. In this study, we focus on the study of pretrained models, BART and a modified version called distilbart, in the context of Zero-Shot Text Classification. In the experimental study we dive into the Zero-Shot technique applied to various pretrained Transformers. Our analysis demonstrates that, depending on the Model we utilize, we can achieve F1 scores of up to 88%, showcasing the model's effectiveness in discerning classes for this Sentiment Analysis problem using the Zero-Shot Text Classification technique. © 2023 IEEE.

Cyberbullying is a form of harassment or bullying that takes place online or through digital devices like smartphones,computers,or *** can occur through various channels,such as social media,text messages,online forums,or gaming *** involves using technology to intentionally harm,harass,or intimidate others and may take different forms,including exclusion,doxing,impersonation,harassment,and ***,due to the rapid growth of malicious internet users,this social phenomenon is becoming more frequent,and there is a huge need to address this ***,the main goal of the research proposed in this manuscript is to tackle this emerging challenge.A dataset of sexist harassment on Twitter,containing tweets about the harassment of people on a sexual basis,for natural language processing(NLP),is used for this *** algorithms are used to transform the text into a meaningful representation of numbers for machine learning(ML)input:Term frequency inverse document frequency(TF-IDF)and Bidirectional encoder representations from transformers(BERT).The well-known eXtreme gradient boosting(XGBoost)ML model is employed to classify whether certain tweets fall into the category of sexual-based harassment or ***,with the goal of reaching better performance,several XGBoost models were devised conducting hyperparameter tuning by *** this purpose,the recently emerging Coyote optimization algorithm(COA)was modified and adjusted to optimize the XGBoost ***,other cutting-edge metaheuristics approach for this challenge were also implemented,and rigid comparative analysis of the captured classification metrics(accuracy,Cohen kappa score,precision,recall,and F1-score)was ***,the best-generated model was interpreted by Shapley additive explanations(SHAP),and useful insights were gained about the behavioral patterns of people who perform social harassment.

To achieve climate neutrality by 2050, the consistent transformation of the mobility sector is one of the most important pillars of the European Green deal. As a result of green and sustainable approaches, novel automotive concepts and massive digitalisation in the mobility ecosystem is undergoing a continuous development towards eco-friendly solutions and novel business models, and the changing landscape of automotive industry comes with a significant social impact as well. The overall horizontal collaboration on skills agenda in the Automotive-Mobility Ecosystem is assured throughout the Automotive Skills Alliance (ASA) [1], which is the Large-scale Pact for Skills Partnership. The latest strategic project of the partnership to support its activities is the Digital & Green Skills Towards Future of the Mobility Ecosystem (TRIREME) which promotes a collaboration between industry stakeholders and training providers including Vocational education Trainings (VETs), Higher Educations (HEs) and universities), moreover, also emphasizing the widespread public representation of different project segments and evaluating the social impacts and regional impact of the changes in the Automotive-Mobility Ecosystem. In parallel to the development of sectoral skills strategy, our department (department of Electronics Technology-ETT) is contributing to deliver specific training materials and courses within Work Package 4 (WP4), which is based on the gathered and processed intelligence from previous desk research, survey activity and participation in professional events. The methodology of course development relies on the concept of modularity, our professional competences in the field of Automotive-mobility, and the fulfillment of requirements to cover the needed skills, the competence and the occupational profile subsets. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper focuses on the energy transition as a social transition and highlights the importance of understanding individual and collective behaviors, aspirations and perceptions regarding energy consumption. The conceptual framework of energy cultures serves as a basic tool for investigating energy behavior, facilitating a deeper understanding of the factors influencing energy consumption. The study, carried out within the ENERGEIA project, focuses on assessing energy culture and energy efficiency awareness in both private entities and public institutions in Romania. Using a comprehensive questionnaire tool, the research aims to uncover the main challenges and barriers faced by organizations in implementing energy efficiency measures. The paper presents a quantitative analysis of the survey data aiming to gather information about the energy culture of companies and public bodies to identify common opportunities for action to improve energy culture and awareness levels. © 2024 IEEE.

Facial expressions are a vital component of human communication, conveying emotional information that enhances the social experience. However, for individuals with visual impairments, perceiving and interpreting facial expressions can be challenging, hindering their ability to engage fully in social interactions. This paper presents an enhanced facial emotion recognition system specifically designed to aid visually impaired individuals. Two enhanced approaches for facial emotion recognition systems are proposed. The first approach consolidates negative emotions (anger, fear, sadness, disgust) into a single class, while the second approach incorporates diverse training datasets from real-world environments. The negative emotion consolidation approach achieved 90.9% and 94.7% accuracy on the FER2013 and CK+ datasets, respectively. While, the diverse dataset integration approach achieved 84.9% and 70.6% accuracy on FER2013 and CK+ datasets, respectively. This is a significant improvement when benchmarked with other approaches available in the literature. The feasibility of the enhanced proposed systems as assistive technology for the visually impaired indicated its ability to be applied in real-world applications. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents the basics of non-invasive electroencephalogram (EEG)-based brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) and a system that could support the learning process in an e-learning environment. More specifically, we focus on the user's mental state and how this can be detected and captured using EEG in order to provide a positive user experience through appropriate adaptation. Mental state is a multidimensional term that includes among else relaxation and concentration, which, in this paper, are captured using a low-cost EEG device that the users wear throughout the interaction with the online environment. The accurate identification of these states is made with the aid of Machine Learning (ML) and enables notifications and proper adaptation to automatically match the detected mental state. Finally, the results from the user experience during the system usage are presented assuming 10 participants. The evaluation showed that such a system would provide a positive user experience. © 2023 IEEE.

Weather prediction methods have evolved significantly over the past fifty years, including advances in numerical weather prediction, high-performance computing, mesoscale modeling, assimilation of observations from new sources, and ensemble prediction systems. In recent years, machine learning techniques, including Long Short- Term Memory (LSTM) models, have shown promise in improving the accuracy of weather predictions. In this paper, we aim at investigating the use of LSTM models to improve the accuracy of open weather datasets. Our work was conducted as part of the AUGEIAS research project, which aims at capitalizing on research results in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) and Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN). More specifically, the project target is to create a smart ecosystem, utilizing machine learning techniques that will enable and optimize the use of treated wastewater reuse in agriculture. Our research indicates that, within the context of the AUGEIAS project, single-step LSTM models outperform multistep models in enhancing weather prediction accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

Fundamental Dynamics of Popularity-Similarity Trajectories in Real Networks

Real networks are complex dynamical systems, evolving over time with the addition and deletion of nodes and links. Currently, there exists no principled mathematical theory for their dynamics—a grand-challenge open problem. Here, we show that the popularity and similarity trajectories of nodes in hyperbolic embeddings of different real networks manifest universal self-similar properties with typical Hurst exponents H≪0.5. This means that the trajectories are predictable, displaying antipersistent or “mean-reverting” behavior, and they can be adequately captured by a fractional Brownian motion process. The observed behavior can be qualitatively reproduced in synthetic networks that possess a latent geometric space, but not in networks that lack such space, suggesting that the observed subdiffusive dynamics are inherently linked to the hidden geometry of real networks. These results set the foundations for rigorous mathematical machinery for describing and predicting real network dynamics.
