Design of Secure Multi-User Coded-SSK with Index Selecting Capability

We propose a new coded space shift keying (CSSK) signaling technique for multi-user (MU), multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems incorporating physical layer security (PLS). Besides its error correction ability, the designed linear code is capable of choosing transmit antenna indices automatically and selecting the best set of antenna combinations that minimizes the bit error rate (BER). Results obtained for the single-user (SU) schemes are then extended to a general single-cell downlink MU CSSK setting. A precoder design is proposed with a maximum ratio combining (MRC) technique to eliminate the multi-user interference (MUI) entirely by taking advantage of channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter. It is shown that the same precoding provides a very effective jamming signal for the PLS against passive eavesdroppers, degrading their signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) severely. A closed-form expression for the achievable secrecy rates is derived and it is maximized by the proposed power allocation algorithm. Finally, it is shown analytically and by computer simulations that substantially better BER performance is achieved by each user over interference-free transmission compared to an SU transmission with a maximum likelihood (ML) detector. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Accelerating AI and computer Vision for Satellite Pose Estimation on the Intel Myriad X Embedded SoC

The challenging deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and computer Vision (CV) algorithms at the edge pushes the community of embedded computing to examine heterogeneous System-on-Chips (SoCs). Such novel computing platforms provide increased diversity in interfaces, processors and storage, however, the efficient partitioning and mapping of AI/CV workloads still remains an open issue. In this context, the current paper develops a hybrid AI/CV system on Intel's Movidius Myriad X, which is an heterogeneous Vision Processing Unit (VPU), for initializing and tracking the satellite's pose in space missions. The space industry is among the communities examining alternative computing platforms to comply with the tight constraints of on-board data processing, while it is also striving to adopt functionalities from the AI domain. At algorithmic level, we rely on the ResNet-50-based UrsoNet network along with a custom classical CV pipeline. For efficient acceleration, we exploit the SoC's neural compute engine and 16 vector processors by combining multiple parallelization and low-level optimization techniques. The proposed single-chip, robust-estimation, and real-time solution delivers a throughput of up to 5 FPS for 1-MegaPixel RGB images within a limited power envelope of 2W. U-shaped architecture have gain popularity in the image segmentation task, especially for biomedical image. Regardless of its good performance, U-shaped architecture generally has huge number of parameters. Considering the resource constraint in actual medical environment, the needs lightweight model is essential. In order to overcome this problem, we propose Channel Attention HalfU-Net. The proposed method implement the existing medical image segmentation model named HalfU-Net. HalfU-Net can reduce the computational cost by simplify the decoder part of the UNet. Channel attention is assigned between ghost model for every stage in encoder part to capture more relevant feature. This leads to performance improvement in skin lesion segmentation problem. Despite that our model achieve state-ofthe-arts performance by surpassing U-Net in aspects of DSC and IoU metrics by 0.86% and 3.48% respectively, the number of parameter of our proposed method is more than 200 times less then U-Net. © 2023 IEEE.

Optimized Image Dehazing using Dark Channel Prior with Minimum Fusion and Improved Atmospheric Light Handling

Haze-induced image degradation in outdoor scenes, caused by atmospheric scattering and absorption, poses significant challenges for applications such as surveillance, autonomous navigation, and remote sensing. This research focuses on improving image dehazing by enhancing two key components: Dark Channel Prior (DCP) and Atmospheric Light Estimation (ALE). DCP exploits the statistical property that haze-free regions exhibit low minimum intensity values, aiding in accurate haze detection. ALE estimates atmospheric light from distant, less-scattered sources, ensuring precise haze removal. To further enhance dehazing performance, this study introduces a Minimum Fusion Technique, which selects the minimum intensity value for each pixel across multiple dehazed outputs, effectively preserving fine details and reducing artifacts. The proposed method is evaluated on the SOTS Outdoor dataset from the RESIDE benchmark, comprising 500 pairs of real-world hazy and clear images. By integrating optimized DCP, ALE, and the Minimum Fusion Technique, the approach achieves superior performance with a PSNR of 35.45 dB and an SSIM of 0.97, outperforming existing methods such as Scene-Specific DCP, TON, and FFA_NET. Additionally, it demonstrates reduced execution time and enhanced visual quality, making it a more efficient and reliable solution for real-world dehazing applications. These improvements establish the proposed method as a state-of-the-art approach for restoring clarity in outdoor images, contributing to more effective and accurate image reconstruction in challenging environments. © 2013 IEEE.

Diabetes mellitus is a dangerous global epidemic that can cause kidney failure, heart attack, blindness, and death. The main cause of this disease is too high blood sugar levels due to the irrelevant work of pancreatic beta cells. Rapid computer technology advances and implementations based on artificial intelligence have penetrated various fields, especially the health sector. Data mining and machine learning are technologies that continue to grow, are reliable, and can be used as research support tools in the medical field. This technology is considered capable of helping to automate diabetes prediction. Based on related research, our contribution to this research is to utilize the CatBoost method with Optuna optimization. In the data preprocessing stage, all 768 data sets have gone through removing outliers, normalizing features to reducing dimensions. The dataset is divided into 85\% composition for training data and 15\% for test data. At the feature selection stage with Correlation Pearson's, we found that Glucose correlated with diabetes outcome or disease because it had a value range of 0.47. The results' accuracy is considered less than optimal because it only produces an accuracy value below 80%, even after optimization with Optuna. It can be seen that there was only an increase of 7\% after optimizing with Optuna. © 2023 IEEE.

Deep neural networks (DNNs) have demonstrated their efficacy in delivering accurate solutions to a range of optimization problems. However, in the context of wireless communications, the size of these problems may vary across adjacent time slots, due to fast changes in the networks' architecture, e.g., the number of users. It is essential to note that this time-varying dimensionality of optimization problems in wireless networks necessitates adjustments in the DNN architecture, resulting in different numbers of input and output nodes. To address this challenge, in our paper, optimization problems of varying size are treated as distinct tasks. To tackle these tasks, a multi-task learning (MTL) approach based on modular sharing is proposed. The multi-task approach consists of a DNN, which is used to extract the solutions for all the optimization problems, and a router which manages which nodes and layers of the input and output layer of the DNN to be used during the forward propagation of each task. Consequently, all tasks share common parameters of the DNN, while the DNN dynamically adjusts to the number of nodes of its output and input layers. Numerical results demonstrate the superiority of the suggested approach over zero-padding, which is the current solution for handling resource allocation problems of varying size. © 2024 IEEE.

Autonomous Systems (AS) enable systems to adapt to drastic and unprecedented environmental changes, a capability that can be enhanced through the utilization of Digital Twins (DTs). However, the additional capabilities of AS come at the cost of explainability, as the expanding adaptation space complicates the reasoning about the system's behavior. For certain types of systems, it is crucial to ensure that specific properties are upheld despite the system's autonomous behavior. To facilitate the monitoring of these properties, we propose the use of Runtime Verification (RV). This tutorial demonstrates the integration of RV tools into the Digital Twins as a Service (DTaaS) platform to monitor and verify the behavior of AS in real-time. By exploring various methods to incorporate RV tools within a DT context, the tutorial aims to advance the application of RV technologies in autonomic computing and self-adaptive system design. Specifically, we demonstrate how the behavior of a self-configuring DT can be verified utilizing RV. This is accomplished through the DTaaS platform, which supports seamless deployment of DT-based AS. © 2024 IEEE.

Building an abstract syntax tree is an integral part of compilers. We analyze a few of the popular techniques providing such analysis in the web environment. Based on the analysis of these solutions, we deal with the implementation of our parser solution, which also provides a graphical representation of abstract syntax trees as well as proof trees. This solution is then used in our application designed to interpret the expressions of the simple teaching functional language of natural numbers and boolean values. In addition, the application supports the evaluation (semantics) of expressions (step by step), and also their individual properties: the depth of the syntax tree, syntax tree nodes count, and the constants used in the expression. © 2022 IEEE.

Design of mmWave Broadband Rotary Joint and 360° Beam-Steering Rotenna Based on Gap Waveguide Technology

This work presents the design and fabrication of a groove gap waveguide-based rotary joint and a rotenna (rotary antenna) with 360° mechanical beam-steering for wideband mmWave applications. The proposed rotary joint incorporates two WR-22 to groove gap waveguide transitions, connected back-to-back with an innovative transformer. A key advantage of gap waveguide technology is its ability to operate without physical contact between the rotary joint's components, allowing the rotor to rotate freely near the stator with an air gap, while wave leakage is suppressed. By replacing common coaxial connectors with standard waveguide flanges and introducing a novel transformer between the rotor and stator, we have successfully developed a wideband rotary joint suitable for mmWaves. To demonstrate the practical applicability of this concept, we designed a rotenna with 360° mechanical beam-steering. This design addresses the common limitations of electronically steerable antennas, such as limited steering range, gain degradation, and high cost and complexity. To validate the concept, prototypes of the proposed rotary joint and rotenna were fabricated and measured. The measured and simulated results show good agreement. The rotary joint exhibits a 44.4% fractional bandwidth over the frequency range of 35 to 55 GHz with an insertion loss below 0.68 dB. Additionally, the engineered rotenna demonstrates a peak realized gain of 13 dBi with no scan loss over the full 360° steering range. © 1963-2012 IEEE.
