Power systems are moving toward a low-carbon or carbon-neutral future where high penetration of renewables is *** conventional fossil-fueled synchronous generators in the transmission network being replaced by renewable energy generation which is highly distributed across the entire grid,new challenges are emerging to the control and stability of large-scale power *** analysis and control methods are needed for power systems to cope with the ongoing *** the CSEE JPES forum,six leading experts were invited to deliver keynote speeches,and the participating researchers and professionals had extensive exchanges and discussions on the control and stability of power ***,potential changes and challenges of power systems with high penetration of renewable energy generation were introduced and explained,and advanced control methods were proposed and analyzed for the transient stability enhancement of power grids.

The prominence growth of the Electric Vehicle (EV) industry requests from researcher to adopts effective controlling techniques for marinating different issues. In this paper an augmented PID controller is suggested for controlling speed in EV based using sigmoid function relation and the smart and unique Gray wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm to achieve a satisfied and robust system desired value, a comparison is utilized with PID controllers (Optimal PID, Normal PID) to evaluate its behavior then a robustness analysis is applied by varying system desired speed in multiple periods, the controller track the desired value perfectly and force the system to an efficient response with robust system behavior. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

The Gannet Optimization Algorithm (GOA) and the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) demonstrate strong performance;however, there remains room for improvement in convergence and practical applications. This study introduces a hybrid optimization algorithm, named the adaptive inertia weight whale optimization algorithm and gannet optimization algorithm (AIWGOA), which addresses challenges in enhancing handwritten documents. The hybrid strategy integrates the strengths of both algorithms, significantly enhancing their capabilities, whereas the adaptive parameter strategy mitigates the need for manual parameter setting. By amalgamating the hybrid strategy and parameter-adaptive approach, the Gannet Optimization Algorithm was refined to yield the AIWGOA. Through a performance analysis of the CEC2013 benchmark, the AIWGOA demonstrates notable advantages across various metrics. Subsequently, an evaluation index was employed to assess the enhanced handwritten documents and images, affirming the superior practical application of the AIWGOA compared with other algorithms.

This paper aims at applying optimal control principles to investigate optimal vaccination strategies in different phases of a pandemic. Background of the study is that many countries have started their vaccination procedures against the COVID-19 disease in the beginning of 2021, but supply shortages for the vaccines prevented that everyone could be vaccinated immediately. At the beginning of 2022, in contrast, the vaccine supply was ample, but the effectiveness of different existing vaccines to avoid infection by new virus variants was in doubt, as well as the acceptance of booster doses decreased over time. To account for these effects, two formulations of optimization tasks based on different epidemic models are proposed in this paper. The solution of these tasks determines optimal distribution strategies for available vaccines, and optimized vaccination schemes to reduce the need of booster doses for later phase. This study proposes a new method which aims to optimally install tie-lines and distributed generations *** is done to optimize the post-outage reconfiguration and minimize energy losses and energy not supplied of distribution *** number and location of tie-lines,as well as the number,size,and location of DGs,are pinpointed through teaching the learning-based optimization(TLBO)*** objective function in the current research is to minimize the costs pertaining to the investment,operation,energy losses,and energies not *** addition to the normal operational condition,fault operational condition is also ***,the optimal post-fault reconfigurations for fault occurrences in all lines are ***,the operational constraints such as the voltage and line current limits are taken into account in both normal and post-fault operational ***,the modified IEEE 33-bus and 69-bus distribution test systems are selected and tested to demonstrate the effectiveness of the simultaneous placement of DGs and tie-line technique proposed in this paper.

Transient angle stability of inverters equipped with the robust droop controller is investigated in this *** first,the conditions on the control references to guarantee the existence of a feasible post-disturbance operating point are ***,the post-disturbance equilibrium points are found and their stability properties are ***,the attraction regions of the stable equilibrium points are accurately depicted by calculating the stable and unstable manifolds of the surrounding unstable equilibrium points,which presents an explanation to system transient ***,the transient control considerations are provided to help the inverter ridethrough the disturbance and maintain its stability *** is shown that the transient angle stability is not a serious problem for droop controlled inverters with proper control settings.

Motion systems are a vital part of many industrial processes. However, meeting the increasingly stringent demands of these systems, especially concerning precision and throughput, requires novel control design methods that can go beyond the capabilities of traditional solutions. Traditional control methods often struggle with the complexity and position-dependent effects inherent in modern motion systems, leading to compromises in performance and a laborious task of controller design. This paper addresses these challenges by introducing a novel structured feedback control auto-tuning approach for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) motion systems. By leveraging frequency response function (FRF) estimates and the linear-parameter-varying (LPV) control framework, the proposed approach automates the controller design, while providing local stability and performance guarantees. Key innovations include norm-based magnitude optimization of the sensitivity functions, an automated stability check through a novel extended factorized Nyquist criterion, a modular structured MIMO LPV controller parameterization, and a controller discretization approach which preserves the continuous-time (CT) controller parameterization. The proposed approach is validated through experiments using a state-of-the-art moving-magnet planar actuator prototype. © 2024 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence systems are usually implemented either using machine learning or expert systems. Machine learning methods are usually more accurate and applicable to a broader range of applications. Expert systems, on the other hand, require much less data for training and generate more comprehensible results. These characteristics are typically desired in the fields of surgery and medicine because there isn't much data available. In order to give a machine's decisions a deeper level of semantics, it is also advantageous to incorporate a doctor's expertise into it. Furthermore, it is safer to understand the reasoning behind a machine's choices. In this paper, a Dempster-Shafer Theory (DST) based expert system is suggested for the task of surgical training skill assessment. An interval-based probabilistic feature analysis was applied to the data to assign values to the mass functions. Zhang's rule of combination was applied to handle the conflicting evidence in the prediction phase. The performance of the proposed method was compared to another DST classifier, SVM, and XGBoost. Our method outperforms SVM and other DST classifiers, but it is not as precise as XGBoost. By reducing the size of the dataset, the added benefit of using an expert system as opposed to a machine learning method was explored further. The performance of the suggested method is not adversely affected by the size of the dataset, whereas the XGBoost classifier is. © 2023 IEEE.

Continuous-time (CT) modeling has proven to provide improved sample efficiency and interpretability in learning the dynamical behavior of physical systems compared to discrete-time (DT) models. However, even with numerous recent developments, the CT nonlinear state-space (NL-SS) model identification problem remains to be solved in full, considering common experimental aspects such as the presence of external inputs, measurement noise, latent states, and general robustness. This paper presents a novel estimation method that addresses all these aspects and that can obtain state-of-the-art results on multiple benchmarks with compact fully connected neural networks capturing the CT dynamics. The proposed estimation method called the subspace encoder approach (SUBNET) ascertains these results by efficiently approximating the complete simulation loss by evaluating short simulations on subsections of the data, by using an encoder function to estimate the initial state for each subsection and a novel state-derivative normalization to ensure stability and good numerical conditioning of the training process. We prove that the use of subsections increases cost function smoothness together with the necessary requirements for the existence of the encoder function and we show that the proposed state-derivative normalization is essential for reliable estimation of CT NL-SS models. © 2023 11th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2023. To maximize energy profit with the participation of electricity,natural gas,and district heating networks in the day-ahead market,stochastic scheduling of energy hubs taking into account the uncertainty of photovoltaic and wind resources,has been carried *** has been done using a new meta-heuristic algorithm,improved artificial rabbits optimization(IARO).In this study,the uncertainty of solar and wind energy sources is modeled using Hang’s two-point estimating method(TPEM).The IARO algorithm is applied to calculate the best capacity of hub energy equipment,such as solar and wind renewable energy sources,combined heat and power(CHP)systems,steamboilers,energy storage,and electric cars in the *** standard ARO algorithmis developed to mimic the foraging behavior of rabbits,and in this work,the algorithm’s effectiveness in avoiding premature convergence is improved by using the dystudynamic inertia weight *** proposed IARO-based scheduling framework’s performance is evaluated against that of traditional ARO,particle swarm optimization(PSO),and salp swarm algorithm(SSA).The findings show that,in comparison to previous approaches,the suggested meta-heuristic scheduling framework based on the IARO has increased energy profit in day-ahead electricity,gas,and heating markets by satisfying the operational and energy hub ***,the results show that TPEM approach dependability consideration decreased hub energy’s profit by 8.995%as compared to deterministic planning.
