In realistic distributed optimization scenarios, individual nodes possess only partial information and communicate over bandwidth constrained channels. For this reason, the development of efficient distributed algorithms is essential. In our paper we addresses the challenge of unconstrained distributed optimization. In our scenario each node’s local function exhibits strong convexity with Lipschitz continuous gradients. The exchange of information between nodes occurs through 3-bit bandwidth-limited channels (i.e., nodes exchange messages represented by a only 3-bits). Our proposed algorithm respects the network’s bandwidth constraints by leveraging zoom-in and zoom-out operations to adjust quantizer parameters dynamically. We show that during our algorithm’s operation nodes are able to converge to the exact optimal solution. Furthermore, we show that our algorithm achieves a linear convergence rate to the optimal solution. A method for detecting surface defects of car seats based on improved YOLOv5 is proposed to address the current issues of low efficiency, high missed detection rate, and difficult cost control in manual inspection of surface defects of car seats. In addition, in order to solve the imbalance problem of various defect images collected by industrial cameras, the methods of translation, cropping and adding noise are used to pre-enhance the images. Train the manually annotated dataset using an improved Yolov5 model, which uses K-means++ clustering anchor boxes to enhance adaptability to the dataset in this paper. At the same time, add a BiFormer module to the network to reduce the loss of small target defects and enhance the network’s feature fusion and extraction capabilities. The experimental results show that the mAP of the whole is increased from 67.1% to 78.2%, and the model can meet the requirements of the identification of car seat surface defects.

Corona Virus Disease-2019(COVID-19)continues to spread rapidly in the *** has dramatically affected daily lives,public health,and the world *** paper presents a segmentation and classification framework of COVID-19 images based on deep ***,the classification process is employed to discriminate between COVID-19,non-COVID,and pneumonia by Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).Then,the segmentation process is applied for COVID-19 and pneumonia CT ***,the resulting segmented images are used to identify the infected region,whether COVID-19 or *** proposed CNN consists of four Convolutional(Conv)layers,four batch normalization layers,and four Rectified Linear Units(ReLUs).The sizes of Conv layer used filters are 8,16,32,and *** maxpooling layers are employed with a stride of 2 and a 2×2 *** classification layer comprises a Fully-Connected(FC)layer and a soft-max activation function used to take the classification decision.A novel saliencybased region detection algorithm and an active contour segmentation strategy are applied to segment COVID-19 and pneumonia CT *** acquired findings substantiate the efficacy of the proposed framework for helping the specialists in automated diagnosis applications.

Robust Multivariate Detection and Estimation with Fault Frequency Content Information

This paper studies the problem of fault detection and estimation (FDE) for linear time-invariant (LTI) systems with a particular focus on frequency content information of faults, possibly as multiple disjoint continuum ranges, and under both disturbances and stochastic noise. To ensure the worst-case fault sensitivity in the considered frequency ranges and mitigate the effects of disturbances and noise, an optimization framework incorporating a mixed H/H2 performance index is developed to compute the optimal detection filter. Moreover, a thresholding rule is proposed to guarantee both the false alarm rate (FAR) and the fault detection rate (FDR). Next, shifting attention to fault estimation in specific frequency ranges, an exact reformulation of the optimal estimation filter design using the restricted H∞ performance index is derived, which is inherently non-convex. However, focusing on finite frequency samples and fixed poles, a lower bound is established via a highly tractable quadratic programming (QP) problem. This lower bound together with an alternating optimization (AO) approach to the original estimation problem leads to a suboptimality gap for the overall estimation filter design. The effectiveness of the proposed approaches is validated through applications of a non-minimum phase hydraulic turbine system and a multi-area power system. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Batteries are widely applied in industrial systems, promoting industrial production efficiency. The system prognosis needs to establish a battery health monitoring model and maintain regular maintenance, improving reliability and safety while reducing unnecessary economic losses. An accurate data-driven state-of-health (SOH) estimation method is crucial, as it mainly relies on the information related to battery SOH values in the extracted features. Therefore, we propose a statistical-based feature extraction method, which makes it physically meaningful and effective. To explore more information, we propose a feature analysis framework to analyze battery features, including visualization, correlation, and importance analysis. We utilize a random forest regression model as an effective learner and validate it based on NASA’s real-world dataset. The feature analysis contents are beneficial for understanding the role and importance of features in SOH estimation tasks, which can also provide an extended scenario for feature extraction of batteries.

—Trajectory planning for quadrotors in cluttered environments has been challenging in recent years. While many trajectory planning frameworks have been successful, there still exists potential for improvements, particularly in enhancing the speed of generating efficient trajectories. In this paper, we present a novel hierarchical trajectory planning framework to reduce computational time and memory usage called MINER-RRT*, which consists of two main components. First, we propose a sampling-based path planning method boosted by neural networks, where the predicted heuristic region accelerates the convergence of rapidly-exploring random trees. Second, we utilize the optimal conditions derived from the quadrotor’s differential flatness properties to construct polynomial trajectories that minimize control effort in multiple stages. Extensive simulation and real-world experimental results demonstrate that, compared to several state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches, our method can generate high-quality trajectories with better performance in 3D cluttered environments. (Video1) Note to Practitioners—The motivation is the problem of planning trajectories for quadrotor autonomous flight in 3D cluttered and complex scenarios such as wild forest exploration and subterranean environment search-and-rescue. Sampling-based path planning methods are suitable for dealing with the complexity of the physical environment but are not convenient for computing dynamics and their differentials. Optimization-based trajectory generation methods are appropriate for handling various high-order constraints but rely on high-quality initial path solutions. Therefore, this paper combines the advantages of the two methods to propose a novel trajectory planning framework that can generate high-quality trajectories for quadrotors faster than many previous algorithms. Equilibrium-Independent control of Continuous-Time Nonlinear Systems via the LPV Framework - Extended Version

In this paper, we consider the analysis and control of continuous-time nonlinear systems to ensure universal shifted stability and performance, i.e., stability and performance w.r.t. each forced equilibrium point of the system. This "equilibrium-free" concept is especially beneficial for control problems that require the tracking of setpoints and rejection of persistent disturbances, such as input loads. In this paper, we show how the velocity form, i.e., the time-differentiated dynamics of the system, plays a crucial role in characterizing these properties and how the analysis of it can be solved by the application of Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) methods in a computationally efficient manner. Furthermore, by leveraging the properties of the velocity form and the LPV framework, a novel controller synthesis method is presented which ensures closed-loop universal shifted stability and performance. The proposed controller design is verified in a simulation study and also experimentally on a real system. Additionally, we compare the proposed method to a standard LPV control design, demonstrating the improved stability and performance guarantees of the new approach. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. This study addresses linear attacks on remote state estimation within the context of a constrained alarm rate. Smart sensors, which are equipped with local Kalman filters, transmit innovations instead of raw measurements through a wireless communication network. This transmission is vulnerable to malicious data interception and manipulation by attackers. The aim of this research is to identify the optimal attack strategy that degrades the system performance while adhering to stealthiness constraints. A notable innovation of this paper is the direct association of the attack's stealthiness with the alarm rate, diverging from traditional approaches that rely on the covariance of the innovation or the Kullback-Leibler divergence, which are conventional metrics that have been extensively explored in previous studies. Our findings reveal that the optimal attack strategy exhibits some structural characteristics in systems of low dimensions. The performance of the proposed attack strategy is demonstrated through numerical examples. © 2024 IEEE.

Virtual coupling technologies have been widely studied in recent years, due to their merits of flexibility and efficiency. However, to operate a virtually coupled train set (VCTS) as a single train, the synchronous operation is still a critical problem to be addressed, especially in arriving. To this end, we propose a distributed coordinated optimal control (DCOC) approach integrated with distributed optimization and model predictive control. First, we formulate a globally coordinated optimal control problem for VCTS, where the states of units in VCTS are coupled in the cost and constraints. Then, we design a distributed algorithm to solve the global problem, where local problems are decoupled into ones with fewer dimensions. Next, we employ distributed model predictive control to guarantee the satisfaction of safety constraints before the convergence of the distributed algorithm. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that our approach can achieve stable and synchronous operation for VCTS and save by 90% computation time than existing centralized approaches. © 2024 IEEE.
