Sample Complexity for Evaluating the Robust Linear Observers Performance under Coprime Factors Uncertainty

This paper addresses the end-to-end sample complexity bound for learning in closed loop the state estimator-based robust H2 controller for an unknown (possibly unstable) Linear Time Invariant (LTI) system, when given a fixed state-feedback gain. We build on the results from Ding et al. (1994) to bridge the gap between the parameterization of all state-estimators and the celebrated Youla parameterization. Refitting the expression of the relevant closed loop allows for the optimal linear observer problem given a fixed state feedback gain to be recast as a convex problem in the Youla parameter. The robust synthesis procedure is performed by considering bounded additive model uncertainty on the coprime factors of the plant, such that a min-max optimization problem is formulated for the robust H2 controller via an observer approach. The closed-loop identification scheme follows Zhang et al. (2021), where the nominal model of the true plant is identified by constructing a Hankel-like matrix from a single time-series of noisy, finite length input-output data by using the ordinary least squares algorithm from Sarkar et al. (2020). Finally, a H∞ bound on the estimated model error is provided, as the robust synthesis procedure requires bounded additive uncertainty on the coprime factors of the model. Path planning is a path used in guiding Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), the three dimensional optimal path is calculated by A-star and Dijkstra algorithms proposed in the three dimensional environments. Simulation environments consist of a hypothetical environment and a realistic environment and including static obstacles or the shapes of modern buildings. This paper is to find the shortest path and avert obstacles to from the starting off node to the landing node and finding the shortest optimal path on the network nodes using algorithms proposed through the formation of a three dimensional network by connecting link nodes with adjacent starting off node and landing node so that robots can perform their tasks as quickly possible in the environment. The simulation environment has been established to evaluate the performance of the A-star and Dijkstra algorithms. The results proved that A-star algorithm outperformed Dijkstra's algorithm in the execution time factor in finding the optimal path only, but they are similar in distance factor and passe nodes in the optimal path in all cases considered. © 2020 IEEE.

This note addresses the problem of evaluating the impact of an attack on discrete-time nonlinear stochastic control systems. The problem is formulated as an optimal control problem with a joint chance constraint that forces the adversary to avoid detection throughout a given time period. Due to the joint constraint, the optimal control policy depends not only on the current state, but also on the entire history, leading to an explosion of the search space and making the problem generally intractable. However, we discover that the current state and whether an alarm has been triggered, or not, is sufficient for specifying the optimal decision at each time step. This information, which we refer to as the alarm flag, can be added to the state space to create an equivalent optimal control problem that can be solved with existing numerical approaches using a Markov policy. Additionally, we note that the formulation results in a policy that does not avoid detection once an alarm has been triggered. We extend the formulation to handle multi-alarm avoidance policies for more reasonable attack impact evaluations, and show that the idea of augmenting the state space with an alarm flag is valid in this extended formulation as well. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Location-based services (LBSs) in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) offer users numerous conveniences. However, the extensive use of LBSs raises concerns about the privacy of users' trajectories, as adversaries can exploit temporal correlations between different locations to extract personal information. Additionally, users have varying privacy requirements depending on the time and location. To address these issues, this paper proposes a personalized trajectory privacy protection mechanism (PTPPM). This mechanism first uses the temporal correlation between trajectory locations to determine the possible location set for each time instant. We identify a protection location set (PLS) for each location by employing the Hilbert curve-based minimum distance search algorithm. This approach incor-porates the complementary features of geo-indistinguishability and distortion privacy. We put forth a novel Permute-and-Flip mechanism for location perturbation, which maps its initial application in data publishing privacy protection to a location perturbation mechanism. This mechanism generates fake locations with smaller perturbation distances while improving the balance between privacy and quality of service (QoS). Simulation results show that our mechanism outperforms the benchmark by providing enhanced privacy protection while meeting user's QoS requirements.

Fast internal detection and location in Shunt Ca-pacitor Banks (SCBs) can lead to the prevention of damages to other SCBs' elements and consequently avoid undesirable performance and effects in power system operation. This paper targets the performance of phasor-based algorithms of failure detection and fault location of SCBs. Being dependent on the fundamental phasor components which usually are calculated based on the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), the failure detection and fault location algorithms suffer from almost one-cycle delay. This paper provides sub-cycle phasor estimation based on the least-square technique. The proposed algorithm is evaluated for different configurations of SCBs considering different fuse protection designs. The proposed method provides a criterion for relay decision-making in the case of multiple faulty phases condition. The proposed method is designed to monitor and detect consecutive failures based on the existing data of commercial relays. Performance evaluations are conducted under different circumstances namely voltage unbalance conditions and multiple internal fault locations.

Active techniques have been introduced to give better detectability performance for cyber-attack diagnosis in cyber-physical systems (CPS). In this paper, switching multiplicative watermarking is considered, whereby we propose an optimal design strategy to define switching filter parameters. Optimality is evaluated exploiting the so-called output-to-output gain of the closed loop system, including some supposed attack dynamics. A worst-case scenario of a matched covert attack is assumed, presuming that an attacker with full knowledge of the closed-loop system injects a stealthy attack of bounded energy. Our algorithm, given watermark filter parameters at some time instant, provides optimal next-step parameters. Analysis of the algorithm is given, demonstrating its features, and demonstrating that through initialization of certain parameters outside of the algorithm, the parameters of the multiplicative watermarking can be randomized. In this paper, we solve the inter-agent collision avoidance problem in an arbitrary n-dimensional Euclidean space using reciprocal safety velocity cones (RSVCs). We propose a decentralized feedback control strategy that guarantees simultaneously asymptotic stabilization to a reference and collision avoidance. Our algorithm is purely decentralized in the sense that each agent uses only local information about its neighbouring agents. Moreover, the proposed solution can be implemented using only inter-agent bearing measurements. Therefore, the algorithm is a sensor-based control strategy which is practically implementable using a wide range of sensors such as vision systems and range scanners. Simulation results in a two dimensional environment cluttered with agents shows that the number of possible deadlocks is marginal and decrease with the decrease in the clutteredness of the workspace.

This research involves the description of the newly developed acoustic communication system that can improve high data rates in the underwater channel. The problems in the conventional underwater communication techniques are being solved in the proposed system with the help of integrating the latest modulation techniques, effective transducers, and signal processing algorithms. The effectiveness of the system in achieving studies details high data rates and reasonable signal integrity and flexibility to unfavorable underwater environments during simulations and field trials. The simulated studies point to a maximum of 500kbps and practical trials a maximum of 480 kbps plus higher energy efficiency than regular systems. It still suggests that there is a need to continue with the improvements on all these areas of system performance since the system was design for varied depths and water types though there is an indication that the system performance declines in turbulent conditions. They are beneficial to develop and improve the underwater communication techniques meant to have a positive impact on technological applications such as underwater robotics, environmental and oceanographic surveys. Hence, the successful implementation of this system can be regarded as a major breakthrough towards the resolution of the problems that arise with high-speed data transmission in undersea environment.

As China's steel production accounts for an increasing share of the world's output, the intelligent transformation of the steel industry is becoming increasingly urgent. To address issues such as low levels of mobile informationization in steel enterprises and the lack of an industry-specific mobile application platform, it is of great significance to establish a shared mobile application platform for the steel industry. In this paper, the requirements of the platform were analyzed, and the platform's functions were designed. The software design of the platform was then carried out, and the entire mobile application sharing platform was developed, effectively improving the production management efficiency of steel enterprises. The results indicate that the platform can effectively meet the needs of steel enterprises and has significant engineering significance.
