In this paper the practical design and development of an eye-mouse model of the improved human-machine interface with infrared rays is presented. In the process of using the remote eye-tracking system, the user need not wear any equipment but rather use a remote infrared light device. The imaging system with an infrared camera can extract images from the eyes to provide the computer with content to analyze, and record information regarding moving traces and pupil diameters. A stabilizing algorithm is added and modified in the tracking method. Then, the user can control the mouse's cursor and operate any kinds of applied program in an eye-mouse control model.

In this paper, we consider a special mixed H 2 /H ∞ optimal control problem which is to obtain the optimal H 2 controller under H ∞ norm and controller degree constraints for an SISO plant. The H ∞ norm constraint on the controller is to achieve a certain level of closed-loop stability robustness against the gap metric, nu-gap metric, or normalized coprime factor uncertainties. The degree constraint requires the degree of the controller to be bounded by that of the plant. We first characterize the set of all feasible stabilizing controllers that meet both the degree and H ∞ norm constraints in terms of a finite dimensional convex set. We then carry out an optimization over the convex parameter set to find the controller that gives the optimal H 2 transient performance. Examples and observations are presented, and comparisons with the results obtained by other H 2 /H ∞ mixed optimization methods are made

Driving safely has received increasing attention of the publics due to the growing number of traffic accidents that the driver's driving style is highly correlated to many accidents. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between driver's driving style and driver's ERP response. In our research, a virtual reality (VR) driving environment is developed to provide stimuli to subjects. Independent component analysis (ICA) is used to decompose the electroencephalogram (EEG) data. The power spectrum analysis of ICA components and correlation analysis are employed to investigate the EEG activities related to driving style. Experimental results demonstrate that we may classify the drivers into aggressive or gentle styles based on the observed ERP difference corresponding to the proposed unexpected obstacle dodging tasks.

Asymptotic and interval observer for quality monitoring in drinking water distribution systems is derived in this paper. It produces robust interval bounds on the estimated state variables of the water quality. Solving two differential equations generates the bounds; hence the numerical efficiency is sufficient for on-line monitoring of the water quality.
