An investigated object with poor signal or lacking in the completed model information is referred to as a grey system. Grey systems are found everywhere. In this paper, the latest researches on poor signal processing and grey modeling technique are presented. The researched results here can open new prospects for the development and application of systems methodology.

Repetitive processes are a distinct class of 2D systems (i.e. information propagation in two independent directions) of both systems theoretic and applications interest. They cannot be controlled by direct extension of existing techniques from either standard (termed 1D here) or 2D systems theory. Here we give the first results on how feedback/feedforward control action can be used to influence one form of controllability for processes with discrete dynamics.

The subsystem of a visual functional test is an embedded system, which is an integral part of testing equipment for functional testing of electronic modules of dashboards of vehicles after their installation. The flexible solution of structure of measuring an information subsystem chain with a CCD camera and its interconnection with a controlling PC of testing equipment enables measurement and also analysis, in a long term time horizon, the functional characteristics of electro-optical parts installed generally in electronic modules produced. The solution is proposed with respect to reliability, the flexibility of re-installation also for other type of the electronic module measured, removal of the human factor from the process of visual functional tests and harmonization of the testing period with the period of production line.

An environment is a very complex and large system. This paper describes it with the aid of the grey systems approach. Firstly, the grey system and grey process are outlined then the latest researches on grey prediction and control of environmental systems are presented. This kind of systems designed here is best suited for investigating the environmental objects with "poor" information.

Repetitive processes are a distinct class of two-dimensional systems (i.e. information propagates in two independent directions) of both systems theoretic and applications interest. They cannot be controlled by direct extension of existing techniques from either standard (termed 1D in the associated literature) or two-dimensional (2D) systems theory. Most of the currently available results for them focus on fundamental properties such as stability, controllability etc. Recently, however, there has been a move (prompted by the progress in this earlier research) towards the development of a control theory, and associated design algorithms, for the subclasses of so-called differential and discrete linear repetitive processes which arise in applications such as iterative learning control. In this paper we continue this theme by investigating the role of proportional plus integral action in the differential case.

This paper deals with motion generation algorithm considering the external and internal impulses. Initially, we analyze the trend of the impulses with a simple 3-DOF planar robot arm in various contact positions and present a problem that is in discord with the general trend. To cope with this problem, we propose a new motion generation algorithm considering both the external and internal impulse. The gradient projection method is employed to exploit the kinematic redundancy of robot systems. Initially, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms is verified through simulation of a 3-DOF planar robot arm model, and two application examples considering both the external and internal impulses are investigated. Through simulations for the landing of a 4-DOF planar human-body model and the sawing motion by a dual-arm model, it is shown that the posture is stable and the trend of the impulses calculated by the analytical models is coincident to the human experiences.

Repetitive processes are a distinct class of 2D systems (i.e. information propagation in two independent directions) of both systems theoretic and applications interest. They cannot be controlled by direct extension of existing techniques from either standard (termed 1D here) or 2D systems theory. Here we give further results on the relatively open problem of the design of control laws to achieve desired performance and disturbance decoupling in the sense defined in the body of the paper. The control laws are activated only by the process output and do not require access to state information.

This paper is concerned with improvement of the KDI-based fault detection method so far developed by authors for nonlinear black-box systems. When modeling the system, Quasi-ARMAX model with multi-model structure is used. A fault due to unexpected change in system parameters will appear as the change of identified model. Kullback discrimination Information (KDI) can then be used as the fault detection index to evaluate the distortion in identified model. Several schemes to improve the fault detection performance are proposed, as well as the realization of a kind of fault isolation function based on a recognition approach in the model parameter space. The effectiveness of the method is verified through simulation studies on the ship propulsion system constructed for benchmark test.

Norm-optimal iterative learning control has potential to significantly increase the accuracy of many trajectory tracking tasks which can be found in industry. The algorithm can achieve very low levels of tracking error and the number of iterations required to reach minimal error is small compared to many other iterative learning control algorithms. However, in the current format, the algorithm is not attractive to industry because it requires a large number of calculations to be performed at each sample instant. This implies that control hardware must be very fast which is expensive, or that the sample frequency must be reduced which can result in reduced performance. To remedy these problems, a revised version, fast norm-optimal iterative learning control is proposed which is significantly simpler and faster to implement. The new version is tested both in simulation and in practice on a three axis industrial gantry robot.

Repetitive processes are a distinct class of two-dimensional (2D) systems (i.e. information propagation in two independent directions occurs) of both systems theoretic and applications interest. They cannot be controlled by direct extension of existing techniques from either standard (termed 1D here) or (most often) 2D systems theory. In this paper we define a new model for these processes necessary to represent dynamics which arise in some applications areas and which are not included in the currently used models. Then we proceed to define quadratic stability for this case, obtain conditions for its existence, and also solve the problem of designing a control law to stabilize the process dynamics (including the case when there is uncertainty associated with the defining state space model)
