The energy meter is a widely used digital-analog electronic system. However, metering accuracy is inevitably influenced by factors such as ambient temperature, load current, and component tolerance. This paper introduces a method utilizing digital twin models to analyze the consistency of metering accuracy in a new single-phase smart meter prototype. An electro-thermal coupling model incorporating a temperature compensation algorithm is established, and the metering accuracy is solved using a surrogate model. By employing the Monte Carlo method, a batch of product samples is generated to determine the impact of varying ambient temperature and load current conditions on the metering accuracy’s consistency within the maximum operating range. The results of this study provides a valuable foundation for robust design and reliability optimization of the energy meter.

The superior performance of object detectors is often established under the condition that the test samples are in the same distribution as the training data. However, in many practical applications, out-of-distribution (OOD) instances are inevitable and usually lead to uncertainty in the results. In this paper, we propose a novel, intuitive, and scalable probabilistic object detection method for OOD detection. Unlike other uncertainty-modeling methods that either require huge computational costs to infer the weight distributions or rely on model training through synthetic outlier data, our method is able to distinguish between in-distribution (ID) data and OOD data via weight parameter sampling from proposed Gaussian distributions based on pre-trained networks. We demonstrate that our Bayesian object detector can achieve satisfactory OOD identification performance by reducing the FPR95 score by up to 8.19% and increasing the AUROC score by up to 13.94% when trained on BDD100k and VOC datasets as the ID datasets and evaluated on COCO2017 dataset as the OOD dataset.

The cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) functionality received significant interest in the state-of-the-art due to its advantages in optimizing traffic flow. The model-based predictive control (MPC) strategy was used in various studies due to its advantages in improving the performance of the vehicles (reducing the travel costs, improving the quality of the travel by reducing sudden accelerations, and ensuring the stability of the platoons). Moreover, MPC solutions are built to maximize the advantages of vehicular communication by sharing predictions on states of vehicles (e.g., velocities, accelerations, trajectories). In addition, MPC is also used to compensate for the disturbances added by communications. Thus, this paper proposes a CACC strategy for a vehicle platoon. The solution is based on the distributed MPC (DMPC) strategy, and the controller is proposed in discrete time, ensuring predecessor-follower string stability for the whole platoon.

They also support the development of advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous vehicles, relying on precise positioning data for safe navigation. One of the solutions involves using image processing algorithms, which can have two approaches. One approach is decentralized, in which each vehicle performs its own computing steps and determines its position concerning the other nearby vehicles. The second approach, proposed in this paper, is centralized, where each vehicle sends data to a server that uses cloud computing to process all the data in real-time. As such, vehicles can create a more comprehensive view of the driving conditions in the area by using either of these two approaches, which can help them anticipate potential hazards and make more informed decisions.
