This research presents a comprehensive analysis of quadrotor stabilization and trajectory tracking control using Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) and Sliding Mode control (SMC) with integrated disturbance rejection. The nonlinear dynamics of the quadrotor are formulated using the Newton-Euler approach, accounting for six degrees of freedom. The PID controller is implemented as a baseline, while the SMC is designed for enhanced robustness to model uncertainties and external perturbations, with a disturbance observer for managing time-varying disturbances. A rigorous Lyapunov stability proof ensures global asymptotic stability of the SMC-controlled system. Extensive simulations evaluate both controllers in terms of tracking accuracy, control effort, and robustness to external disturbances. Results show that SMC outperforms PID in dis-turbance rejection, tracking accuracy, and robustness, making it ideal for UAV applications in complex environments. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we present a study on using weighted total least squares method for parameter estimation of errors-in-variables models with quadratic regressors. The statistics of error is analyzed to fill in the gap between basic assumptions in weighted total least squares and our case. A modified Cramér-Rao lower bound is introduced for error quantification in the proposed method. We perform evaluations based on simulations with comparisons to standard least squares and generalized total least squares. Numerical results show that the proposed method outperforms the others in terms of estimation accuracy. © 2023 European Signal Processing Conference, EUSIPCO. All rights reserved.

This article presents a wide, proprietary range of Emotiv Epoc Flex Gel headset applications for EEG signal measurement. It is about its use in systems involving artificial intelligence, such as artificial neural networks and expert systems. The constantly developing field of biomedical engineering as well as newer and more advanced BCI (brain-computer interface) systems require their designers to constantly develop and search for various innovative methods used in their creation. In response to practical requirements and the possibility of using the system in real conditions, the authors propose an advanced solution using EEG signal analysis (electroencephalography). An AI-based approach to designing the BCI system was used for advanced signal analysis. The article contains a detailed description of two applications based on artificial intelligence using EEG signals. The first one, for controlling a mobile robot using mental commands. The second one, on the other hand, for controlling a mobile robot with verification in the form of an EMG signal. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the integration of the Emotiv Epoc Flex Kit with proprietary AI systems and its significant impact on the field. © 2023 CEUR-WS. The paper evaluates statistical significance of the differences in the feature values necessary to differentiate the signals corresponding to cardiac arrhythmia (AR) and atrial fibrillation (AF). The initial set of heart rate variability (HRV) features includes time and frequency domain metrics, as well as geometric metrics based on the Poincare diagram. Due to non-uniformity of the heart rate signal, frequency domain features are calculated using two approaches: the Lomb-Scargle method for spectral analysis for non-uniform signals, and Welch method for uniform signals, but after the signal interpolation and resampling. Selection of an appropriate statistical test was depending on the distribution of feature values. Normal distribution allowed use of parametric ANOVA test and otherwise non-parametric Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test were used. The statistical tests indicated statistically significant difference between the two observed groups of signals of interest with respect to the evaluated feature. The success of the classification depends on the well-chosen features according to their importance. In the paper, statistical tests resulted in selection of 27 features out of the initial 51. The proposed set of features could be used for the classification between the AR and AF signals to assist diagnosis of the mentioned heart diseases. © 2023 IEEE.

Switching power supplies are widely used in aerospace, new energy and many other fields. During long-term operation, various electronic components in these supplies experience performance degradation due to continuous electrical and thermal stress, leading to changes in output characteristics. This is the fundamental reason affecting the reliability of switching power supplies. However, the current combination of physics of failure (PoF) models and simulation technique is imperfect, and most methods cannot achieve batch injection of multiple device failures. This paper proposes a reliability prediction simulation method for switching power supplies based on PoF model injection. By focusing on a switching circuit, the approach involves digital twin modeling and validation, failure mechanism and sensitivity analysis, key failure components degradation modeling, and batch degradation simulation. This method achieves continuous degradation data of multiple components based on the PoF model through batch injection, improving the efficiency and accuracy of reliability prediction for switching power supplies. © 2024 IEEE.

In the paper, the design and Simulink implementation of a predictive current control structure in dq frame for a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) are presented. Starting from the multivariable model of the currents in the dq reference frame, first it is decoupled and through the rejection of the disturbance introduced by the back-EMF, two single-input single-output (SISO) systems result whose dynamics are generated by R-L circuits. For these SISO systems, the model predictive control (MPC) algorithms are designed that allow the consideration of physical limitations through constraints The performances of the current control structure with MPC algorithms are compared with those obtained with the conventional PI controllers. © 2023 IEEE.

Integrated energy system is a useful tool for achieving the"dual-carbon"goal. In order to explore the demand-side adjustable potential of the comprehensive energy system for lowering carbon emissions, this paper proposes an optimal operation model that accounts for demand response under a carbon trading mechanism. Initially, the demand response is classified into two categories based on the characteristics of the load response. Additionally, a carbon trading mechanism is built for the integrated energy system by allocating the carbon emission quotas for the system using the baseline technique, which is free of charge. The actual carbon emissions from the gas turbine and gas boiler are also taken into account. Ultimately, a low-carbon optimization operation model of the integrated energy system is established, with the goal of minimizing the total cost of energy purchase, carbon trading, and operation and maintenance. The suggested model's validity is then confirmed through four types of typical scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

Formation control is currently a popular field of research due to the increasing application areas of unmanned aerial vehicles. Of concern is the stability of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) formation while tracking especially under the influence of disturbances, and model parameter uncertainty. Since formation of the UAV formation while tracking, especially flying involves a mutual cooperation, consensus-based techniques are more suited such that a group of UAVs are collectively coordinated to perform some tasks. In this paper, a leader–follower formation control of homogeneous fixed wing UAVs based on model reference adaptive control with an integral error control compensation is presented. Model reference adaptive control is powerful and effective for handling uncertain and varying dynamics. This proposed distributed composite control strategy with a directed graph topology, although model-dependent can be effective to suppress disturbances affecting the vehicles, while achieving consensus-based tracking of a reference path. The numerical simulation results given show the applicability of this proposed control strategy. © 2025 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. All rights reserved.

Complex signals play an important role in signal processing and communication systems. This paper focuses on two types of complex signals: complex baseband and analytic bandpass signals. Analytic signals contain only the positive frequency components of the original signal and can be efficiently computed using the FFT algorithm. Complex baseband signals represent modulated signals and can be generated using techniques such as quadrature modulation or discrete complex downconversion. Analytic bandpass signals have a non-zero centered bandwidth and can be generated using the FFT method or by directly generating a complex bandpass signal. In both cases, the signal can be manipulated using complex mixers and filters. © 2023 IEEE.

Power system analysis often involves studying the dynamics of oscillatory signals and transient events. Analytic signals provide a useful representation of real-meaured signals that contain both oscillatory and non-oscillatory components. This work examines the application of discrete-time analytic signals to analyze power system signals using Kung's and Prony's method. These methods are used to estimate the oscillatory modes present in power system signals and their associated parameters. The performance of the methods is evaluated on simulated and real power system data. The analytic signal-based techniques are shown to produce accurate results and offer benefits for automated power system monitoring and disturbance analysis. © 2023 IEEE.
