Dynamic Performance of Non-Minimum-Phase Zeros-Dominated Power-Synchronization Control

In this letter, it is found that non-minimum-phase zeros of power-synchronization control (PSC), induced by q-axis current injection, only dominate the system in weak grids, with one exception of low converter voltage magnitude. Using Bode's gain/phase relation, a trade-off analytical condition between the bandwidth and phase margin is proposed considering the locations of right-half-plant (RHP) zeros. System dynamic performance is improved compared to the design ignoring the effect of RHP zeros. © 1969-2012 IEEE.

This paper reports temperature-dependent small-and large-signal measurements of a 32 - 38 GHz GaN-based SPDT switch MMIC which employs a double shunt topology and is designed into a 140 nm GaN HEMT process. The switch MMIC exhibits 1.23 - 1.5 dB insertion loss, >25.8 dB isolation, and a 1 dB compression > 31 dBm. The switch MMIC is also characterized at higher ambient temperatures, and the rate of change versus temperature for several switch figures of merit are reported. This work could provide important data for circuit designers to project switch MMIC performance to high temperatures. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper presents a new single-stage reduced-switch three-phase AC-DC interlinking converter that links a utility-connected AC sub-grid to a multilevel DC sub-grid with an integrated port for the battery energy storage system (BESS). The suggested converter simplifies hybrid microgrid architecture by integrating the power conversion stages. The converter provides galvanic isolation at one DC port and unity power factor at an AC port. The converter has only six active switches, and it requires a simple control system to operate. The proposed converter's workings, characteristics, and control are defined in this paper. Also, scaled-down prototype experimental results are provided that validate converter viability. © 2024 IEEE.

A distributed controller for secondary control problems in microgrids with grid-forming (GFM) inverter-based resources (IBRs) is developed. The controller is based on distributed optimization and is synthesized and implemented distributively enabling each GFM IBR to utilize decentralized measurements and the neighborhood information in the communication network. We present a convergence analysis establishing voltage regulation and reactive power sharing properties. A controller-hardware-in-the-loop experiment is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed controller. The experimental results corroborate the efficacy of the proposed distributed controller for secondary control. © 2024 IEEE.

As programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) become more integrated into complex industrial systems and networks, their software components face increased security vulnerabilities. Fuzz testing, which uses unexpected inputs to find vulnerabilities, has been used to enhance PLC security but is primarily focused on communication protocols, often overlooking control logic. This paper presents a fuzzing framework for PLC control logic programs. The framework is designed to handle control logic's unique execution process, which may involve translating PLC languages into general-purpose languages. It generates structurally valid test cases and is platform-independent. We implement our prototype around the OpenPLC environment and expand our experiments to a Wago PLC image to evaluate the feasibility of our method on real-world devices. Our approach exhibits strong performance in terms of code coverage, test case pass rate, and crash detection, while ensuring high time efficiency. © 2025 IEEE.

Current emotional text-to-speech (TTS) models predominantly conduct supervised training to learn the conversion from text and desired emotion to its emotional speech, focusing on a single emotion per text-speech pair. These models only learn the correct emotional outputs without fully comprehending other emotion characteristics, which limits their capabilities of capturing the nuances between different emotions. We propose a controllable Emo-DPO approach, which employs direct preference optimization to differentiate subtle emotional nuances between emotions through optimizing towards preferred emotions over less preferred emotional ones. Instead of relying on traditional neural architectures used in existing emotional TTS models, we propose utilizing the emotion-aware LLM-TTS neural architecture to leverage LLMs' in-context learning and instruction-following capabilities. Comprehensive experiments confirm that our proposed method outperforms the existing baselines. © 2025 IEEE.

Modern vehicles are integrated systems of complex software that support advanced features such as autonomous driving and over-the-air updates. Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) are emerging as a future automotive paradigm for managing increasing software complexity by centralizing computing resources and enabling flexible software updates and feature deployment. However, most SDV research is conducted in simulation environments because using real vehicles presents many challenges, including high cost, safety concerns, and implementation difficulties. In this paper, we present the design of an SDV research platform using a 1/5-scale vehicle model to overcome these limitations of SDV research. The platform implements a zone architecture and integrates various embedded systems to replicate the distributed computing environment of a modern vehicle. The platform allows researchers to experiment with different SDV concepts such as distributed computing, OTA updates, middleware, and vehicle software management without the constraints of full-scale vehicle testing. Our design demonstrates the feasibility of using extended vehicles for SDV research and provides insights into platform design for SDV research. © 2025 IEEE.

Intersections stand as critical nodes in transportation networks, where traffic safety and efficiency are paramount concerns. The advent of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) holds promise in revolutionizing transportation systems by enhancing efficiency, safety, and congestion mitigation. However, prevailing literature on intersection management adheres to traditional layouts, imposing fixed turning directions on approach lanes, thus limiting the flexibility and controllability of CAVs. In contrast to approaches restricting lane choice, our framework leverages all available exit lanes whenever feasible. The Extended Conflict Directed Graph (ECDG) is proposed to model intersections, integrating vehicle dynamics and intersection geospatial characteristics for improved efficiency. Furthermore, we propose a novel breadth-first-search-based method to solve the problems efficiently. Extensive experiments demonstrate significant improvements in intersection evacuation time, with up to a 15.8% enhancement in traffic efficiency compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we study the problem of placing a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) and tuning its reflected links to improve the resiliency and connectivity of uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) networks. We formulate an optimization problem of maximizing network connectivity that jointly optimizes RIS position, its phase shift, and UE-RIS-UAV link scheduling. Such problem is computationally expensive combinatorial optimization. To tackle this problem, we first design the phase control strategy at the RIS for the UE-RIS-UAV link scheduling. With such design, we propose an optimal linear search method, which has high computational complexity for large networks. Then, leveraging the convex relaxation method and the designed phase strategy, we propose another solution using semi-definite programming (SDP) optimization, which solves the problem in polynomial time. Simulation results show that our proposed solutions outperform other benchmark schemes. © 2024 IEEE.
