Integrating user behavior across domains to create comprehensive profiles is crucial for system efficiency and security. This paper delves into the use of data analytics techniques to gather user data from various application domains, enabling the creation of security user profiles that contain data suitable for user authentication. Specifically, these methods are capable of identifying patterns in the users' data and then using said patterns to detect legitimate but anomalous activities performed by the users. Furthermore, we propose an innovative mechanism that dynamically integrates these profiles to create a comprehensive and global security profile for user authentication. Typically, each profile represents a distinctive entity detailing infrequent user behaviors that significantly impact identity verification. The verification process involves posing user challenge questions generated from these integrated profiles. The generated user profiles ensure the selection of questions that meet both security and usability requirements. We uphold security by issuing each question from the integrated user profiles only once, protecting user responses from potential compromise. We prioritize usability by using fresh data, which helps legitimate users recall and complete the challenge easily. © 2024 IEEE.

Distinguishing between quality and substandard tablets is vital for public health, patient safety, and regulatory adherence. Stringent healthcare and pharmaceutical regulations underscore the importance of medication safety and quality. Establishing the legitimacy of medications builds trust, fortifying a resilient health care system essential for effective medical care and societal welfare. Hence, this paper employs the You Only Look Once (YOLOv7) model for the real-time identification of defective and QC-passed tablets, achieving a notable overall accuracy of 97.5% in our successful experimentation. © 2024 IEEE.

This study investigates the combined berth allocation problem (BAP) and quay crane allocation problem (QCAP) while considering a multi-quay setting. First, a mixed integer linear programming mathematical model is developed based on various constraints and real port settings. Then, the multi-quay combined BAP and QCAP is solved using both the exact method and a metaheuristic optimization method, namely, the cuckoo search algorithm (CSA). This analysis pertains to a one-week planning scenario, utilizing data from a real port. With 5G and beyond promises to realize massive machine-type communications, a wide range of applications have driven interest in complex heterogeneous networked systems, including multi-agent optimization, large-scale distributed learning, 5G service provisioning, etc. This trend highlights the essence of seamless control, management, and security mechanisms to be in place for the next-generation networked cyber-physical systems (CPS). In this paper, we interpret trust as a relation among networked collaborating entities that can set forth a measure for evaluating the status of network components and secure the execution of the collaborative protocol. In this paper, we will first elaborate on the importance of trust as a metric and then present a mathematical framework for trust computation and aggregation within a network. We consider two use-case examples where trust can be incorporated into the next-generation networked CPS and improve the security of decision-making, i.e. i) federated learning (FL), and ii) network resource provisioning. Finally, we explain the challenges associated with aggregating the trust evidence and briefly explain our ideas to tackle them.

Unstructured Numerical Image Dataset Separation (UNIDS) method employing an enhanced unsupervised clustering technique. The objective is to delineate an optimal number of distinct groups within the input grayscale (G-S) image content, utilizing the improved limited iteration agglomerative clustering (iLIAC) clustering technique for the separation and enhancement of picture elements. The UNIDS method is structured into two primary stages: partitioning and validation. In the partitioning stage, the UNIDS method identifies an appropriate number of discrete clusters within the grayscale image using the iLIAC technique, eliminating the need for predetermined procedures. Subsequently, the method evaluates the similarity and deviation among data elements within the same group in the resultant image dataset. Additionally, it assesses the proximity and inters severance among clusters in the outcome of the image dataset through the partitioning process. Empirical results indicate that the UNIDS system excels in the spontaneous identification of an optimal number of discrete clusters within the input G-S image. The system demonstrates superior thickness, reduced deviation among data elements within the same cluster, increased inter-separation, and diminished inter-closeness between cluster elements. Furthermore, empirical analysis establishes the superior performance of the UNIDS approach compared to existing clustering techniques. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Price prediction is one of the examples related to forecasting tasks and is a project based on data science. Price prediction analyzes data and predicts the cost of new products. The goal of this research is to achieve an arrangement to predict the price of a cellphone based on its specifications. So, five deep learning models are proposed to predict the price range of a cellphone, one unimodal and four multimodal approaches. The multimodal methods predict the prices based on the graphical and non-graphical features of cellphones that have an important effect on their valorizations. Also, to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed methods, a cellphone dataset has been gathered from GSMArena. The experimental results show 88.3% F1-score, which confirms that multimodal learning leads to more accurate predictions than state-of-the-art techniques. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

A novel approach to optimizing photovoltaic (PV) power through adaptive step size adjustments based on variations in PV module output power and current is introduced in this research paper. Utilizing the incremental conductance technique, the algorithm dynamically adjusts the duty cycle of a step-up converter, optimizing the operating point of a PV module toward the maximum power point (MPP). By eliminating the need for a multiplier and requiring no preceding knowledge of PV module output characteristics, this approach stands out for its efficiency. Hardware implementation and a comparison with a fixed step-size strategy demonstrated superior tracking speed (52% faster) and impeccable accuracy. The proposed method accelerates the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) process and also significantly enhances the overall performance of the PV system. The study presents a breakthrough promising a more responsive and precise system for optimizing PV power, showcasing potential advancements in renewable energy technology. © 2024 IEEE.

Ocular diseases have become an important issue worldwide. Every year, various ocular diseases affect numerous individuals, leading to blindness for many. Despite seeking treatment in hospitals or from doctors, accurately diagnosing the disease remains a challenge. In numerous cases, the correct diagnosis is elusive and time-consuming, leading to unnecessary delays. This is why computer-aided diagnosis is necessary to swiftly diagnose the disease. However, most computer-Aided Diagnoses (CADs) are designed for single diagnoses. Therefore, there is a crucial need to develop CAD technology for detecting multiple ocular diseases. Many researchers are currently investigating this issue and developing various deep-learning models to find a solution. They have developed many techniques and models through which various types of ocular diseases can be diagnosed quickly and accurately. So far, the highest AUC score achieved is 99%. Reading all the literature on these techniques is time-consuming, so a literature review paper on this topic is necessary. In this review paper, the techniques from some important papers on this topic have been summarized. A critical analysis has been provided of all the papers, including their limitations and potential solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

Automatic numeration and localization of I-125 seeds in the post-implant prostate images based on CT and radiography image fusion

Purpose: Permanent prostate seed implant brachytherapy is widely adopted as a successful treatment method for prostate cancer. While radiographic planar fluoroscopy images are a well-established method to determine the location of seeds implanted in the prostate, many have investigated computed tomography (CT) to determine it. In this study, our purpose is to develop an automatic algorithm to accurately identify the seed positions, direction, and at the same time, to estimate the number of I-125 seeds implanted during the treatment procedure, as implanted seeds location is helpful information in intraoperative dosimetry in low-dose-rate (LDR) permanent prostate brachytherapy. Methods: A prostate phantom with a total of 40 I-125 implanted dummy seeds and 22 patients with a total of 1091 implanted seeds were scanned using CT imaging device with 2.5 mm slice thickness and radiography imaging. Phase congruency (PC) was performed to enhance edge detection and seed visualization. Seed detection was performed using the histogram analysis of the processed image, and the calculation of the probability of the number of separate and overlapped seeds was performed using registration process between CT and Fluoroscopy images. Results: This algorithm could successfully recognize 98.28% of the seeds without losing any image information, and therefore could correctly estimate the number of seeds, which is an essential step to maintain the high-quality treatment of prostate brachytherapy. Conclusion: While the simulation results demonstrate the capability of the proposed algorithm, it is sensitive to the imaging process due to its dependency upon the CT and radiography image fusion procedure. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to The Brazilian Society of Biomedical engineering.
