Long reach PON is an attractive option for addressing the growing bandwidth needs of internet applications and also serving multiple ONUs. Due to newly augmented technologies such as 4K/8K television, video meetings/conferencing, and online gaming, end-user bandwidth demands are exponentially rising day by day. Wavelength division multiplexing-based passive optical network (WDM-PON), which can deliver high data rates over long distances, is the ultimate solution to the growing bandwidth demand. It is possible to reduce the number of active cabinets and central offices while increasing the number of optical network units (ONUs) with the use of passive optical networks (PONs). At higher bit rates, researchers faced lot of issues like increased pulse width due to increased distance, burst loss, fault detection, etc. In this paper, we have discussed few challenges faced in passive optical networks. Also, we have discussed about the methodology to overcome these issues. © 2023 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.

In this paper,we present a novel adaptive performance control approach for strict-feedback nonparametric systems with unknown time-varying control coefficients,which mainly includes the following ***,by introducing several key transformation functions and selecting the initial value of the time-varying scaling function,the symmetric prescribed performance with global and semi-global properties can be handled uniformly,without the need for control ***,to handle the problem of unknown time-varying control coefficient with an unknown sign,we propose an enhanced Nussbaum function(ENF)bearing some unique properties and characteristics,with which the complex stability analysis based on specific Nussbaum functions as commonly used is no longer ***,by utilizing the core-function information technique,the nonparametric uncertainties in the system are gracefully handled so that no approximator is ***,simulation results verify the effectiveness and benefits of the approach.

复合材料以其优异的性能被广泛应用于许多领域。复合材料的质量缺陷会导致其构件的性能下降,成为潜在的事故隐患。当前国内外研究者通常采用实验或仿真的方法对复合材料的质量进行预测。然而,由于固化环境的不确定性和动态、静态特征考虑不全面,因此难以准确预测复合材料的质量。为了解决这一问题,本文首先建立了复合材料的数字孪生(DT)模型,然后通过实现静态热压罐DT虚拟模型与可变复合材料DT虚拟模型的耦合,完成复合材料固化过程数字孪生模型的构建。基于该固化过程模型,生成模拟数据来增加动态特征,从而提高质量预测的准确性。最后基于获取的数据,使用极限学习机(ELM)构建复合材料质量预测模型,并通过结果分析验证了所提方法的有效性。

In order to calculate the motor core loss accurately, it is usually necessary to test the loss characteristics of the electrical steel (silicon steel), including the specific loss under different frequencies and different flux densities, that is, the loss per unit volume or unit weight. Some samples of specific shapes need to be made before testing, and the testing is time-consuming. The finite element simulation can be used to replace the testing work to a certain extent, thus reducing the material cost and labor cost. In this paper, a simulation model for annular silicon steel sheet is constructed, and its accuracy is verified by comparing with the tested results. On this basis, the influence of flux density harmonics on core loss can be studied. © 2023 IEEE.

Nonlinear equations systems(NESs)are widely used in real-world problems and they are difficult to solve due to their nonlinearity and multiple *** algorithms(EAs)are one of the methods for solving NESs,given their global search capabilities and ability to locate multiple roots of a NES simultaneously within one ***,the majority of research on using EAs to solve NESs focuses on transformation techniques and improving the performance of the used *** contrast,problem domain knowledge of NESs is investigated in this study,where we propose the incorporation of a variable reduction strategy(VRS)into EAs to solve *** VRS makes full use of the systems of expressing a NES and uses some variables(i.e.,core variable)to represent other variables(i.e.,reduced variables)through variable relationships that exist in the equation *** enables the reduction of partial variables and equations and shrinks the decision space,thereby reducing the complexity of the problem and improving the search efficiency of the *** test the effectiveness of VRS in dealing with NESs,this paper mainly integrates the VRS into two existing state-of-the-art EA methods(i.e.,MONES and DR-JADE)according to the integration framework of the VRS and EA,*** results show that,with the assistance of the VRS,the EA methods can produce better results than the original methods and other compared ***,extensive experiments regarding the influence of different reduction schemes and EAs substantiate that a better EA for solving a NES with more reduced variables tends to provide better performance.

To enhance the detection efficiency in eddy current pulsed thermography, an adaptive feature extraction algorithm for defect identification is developed in this paper. The proposed algorithm involves four stages, namely, the thermal image segmentation, the variable interval search, the distance correlation clustering analysis and the between-class distance decision making. The transient thermal responses (TTRs) with similar characteristics are collected into one data block. The thermal image segmentation and variable interval search can help reduce the repetitive calculation in defect identification by choosing local optimums in each data block. The global optimum that has the largest sum of the between-class distance, is derived by first classifying the local optimums and then calculating the correlation distance of the thermal responses with the center points of each class. Finally, the TTRs with the largest between-class distance are regarded as the typical ones which can be used to identify the discriminative defect features of infrared image sequence. Finally, the comparison experiments are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed approach. © 2018, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Resource-constrained flexible job shop scheduling problems are commonly encountered in some manufacturing industries, and have been widely studied in recent years. However, traditional resource constrained flexible job shop scheduling problem rarely consider the uncertainties in actual manufacturing systems, which may make the original schedule become suboptimal or even unfeasible. Therefore, a resource constrained flexible job shop inverse scheduling problem (RCFJISP) is proposed in this paper, which aims to cope with uncertain events by simultaneously adjusting the machine, worker and process parameters of the original schedule. A multi-objective optimization model is constructed to minimize the makespan, worker cost, machine energy consumption and deviation index. Furthermore, an improved memetic algorithm (IMA) is developed for solving the proposed problem. In IMA, a novel double-layer encoding mechanism is designed to enhance the capacity in exploring new solution's domains. Three initialization strategies utilizing original scheduling information are designed to improve the quality of initial solutions. An adaptive mutation strategy and a local search mechanism are designed to enhance exploration and exploitation ability of the algorithm. And a crowding operator is proposed to reflect the diversity of the population effectively. In computational experiments, 28 extended benchmarks are constructed, and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy and algorithm is verified by comparing IMA with its 4 variants and other 4 widely used algorithms. Finally, two inverse scheduling problems of a real-world hydraulic cylinder machining workshop under two uncertain situations are studied. The results demonstrate that IMA can effectively solve the actual inverse scheduling problem. With a slight adjustment to the original scheduling, it can reduce the makespan by 11.5%, the worker cost by 8.1% and the machine energy consumption by 27.9% on average. © 2024 The Society of Ma

CNN, a kind of deep learning method, has been widely used in fault diagnosis. It requires a large number of training samples, but it is difficult to obtain abundant samples under different conditions. Aiming at insufficient fault samples, an improved ResNet (IResNet) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, order spectrum is computed from raw data as pre-processed samples, which will be further augmented to improve the generalization ability of the model. Secondly, IResNet is constructed by several hybrid residual building blocks fused from multi-dimensional normalization layers, which can be adopted to enhance the feature extraction ability of the model. Then, the parameters of IResNet in the source domain are transferred to identify the health status of rolling bearing in the target domain. Finally, experimental data under different working conditions are used to verify the performance of the proposed method. The experimental results indicate that the recognition accuracy of the proposed method is higher than other methods and that the proposed method can identify the health status of rolling bearing with small training samples. © 2022 IEEE.

In precision control engineering, selecting the appropriate servo drive is crucial for tasks such as micrometer or nanometer positioning and maintaining speed stability at extremely low velocities. Traditional pulse-width modulation servo drives introduce current ripple, which in turn causes force ripple, limiting precision. To address this, non-switching linear amplifiers offer a viable alternative, providing high-quality output and improved dynamic performance, despite their lower efficiency. A key challenge in designing high-output current, low-supply voltage, linear amplifiers is ensuring uniform current distribution among parallel-connected bipolar junction transistors. Unequal current sharing leads to thermal stress, significantly reducing reliability and component lifespan. This paper explores the impact of emitter resistor tolerance on transistor current balancing and proposes a systematic method for resistor selection and pairing. This approach is particularly valuable in scenarios where precise low-tolerance resistors are not readily available, and large-scale serial production is not feasible.
