This paper investigates an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) aided millimeter-wave integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system. Specifically, based on the passive beam scanning in the downlink, the IRS finds the optimal beam for reflecting the signals from the base station to a communication user. Meanwhile, the IRS estimates the angle of a nearby target based on its echo signal received by the sensing elements mounted on the IRS (i.e., semi-passive IRS). We propose an ISAC protocol for achieving the above objective via simultaneous (beam) training and sensing (STAS). Then, we derive the achievable rate of the communication user and the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) of the angle estimation for the sensing target in closed-form. The achievable rate and CRB exhibit different performance against the duration of beam scanning. Specifically, the average achievable rate initially rises and subsequently declines, while the CRB monotonically decreases. Consequently, the duration of beam scanning should be carefully selected to balance communication and sensing performance. Simulation results have verified our analytical findings and shown that, thanks to the efficient use of downlink beam scanning signal for simultaneous communication and target sensing, the STAS protocol outperforms the benchmark protocol with orthogonal beam training and sensing. © 2023 IEEE.

The Internet-of-things (IoT) is a technology that might be used to link huge amounts of equipment and gadgets in the future. This research uses a hybrid access point (HAP) to explore short packet communication (SPC), in which the IoT devices broadcast their short data packets to the HAP using the energy they gather. As compared to regular wireless networks, SPC has a lower transmission rate and a higher packet error rate. With unlimited block length codes, the allocation of resources in the literature is no longer the best it could possibly be. Based on a user's unique effective amount of information r, their transmission time and packet error rate are tuned to maximize or decrease total effective throughput or total transmission time. Nonconvex issues need the development of efficient ways for unacceptable solutions. These algorithms outperform current benchmarks and are on par with an exhaustive search for the optimum solution in terms of performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Control system optimization has long been a fundamental challenge in robotics. While recent advancements have led to the development of control algorithms that leverage learning-based approaches, such as SafeOpt, to optimize single feedback controllers, scaling these methods to high-dimensional complex systems with multiple controllers remains an open problem. In this paper, we propose a novel learning-based control optimization method, which enhances the additive Gaussian process-based Safe Bayesian Optimization algorithm to efficiently tackle high-dimensional problems through kernel selection. We use PID controller optimization in drones as a representative example and test the method on Safe Control Gym, a benchmark designed for evaluating safe control techniques. We show that the proposed method provides a more efficient and optimal solution for high-dimensional control optimization problems, demonstrating significant improvements over existing techniques. © 2024 IEEE.

We propose a semantic template-based distributed representation for the convolutional neural network called Semantic Template-based Convolutional Neural Network (STCNN) for text categorization that imitates the perceptual behavior of human comprehension. STCNN is a highly automatic approach that learns semantic templates that characterize a domain from raw text and recognizes categories of documents using a semantic-infused convolutional neural network that allows a template to be partially matched through a statistical scoring system. Our experiment results show that STCNN effectively classifies documents in about 140,000 Chinese news articles into predefined categories by capturing the most prominent and expressive patterns and achieves the best performance among all compared methods for Chinese topic classification. Finally, the same knowledge can be directly used to perform a semantic analysis task. © 2023 held by the owner/author(s). Publication rights licensed to ACM.

W-type barium-nickel ferrite(BaNi_(2)Fe_(16)O_(27))is a highly promising material for electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption be-cause of its magnetic loss capability for EMW,low cost,large-scale production potential,high-temperature resistance,and excellent chemical ***,the poor dielectric loss of magnetic ferrites hampers their utilization,hindering enhancement in their EMW-absorption *** efficient strategies that improve the EMW-absorption performance of ferrite is highly desired but re-mains ***,an efficient strategy substituting Ba^(2+)with rare earth La^(3+)in W-type ferrite was proposed for the preparation of novel La-substituted ferrites(Ba_(1-x)LaxNi_(2)Fe_(15.4)O_(27)).The influences of La^(3+)substitution on ferrites’EMW-absorption performance and the dissipative mechanism toward EMW were systematically explored and ***^(3+)efficiently induced lattice defects,enhanced defect-induced polarization,and slightly reduced the ferrites’bandgap,enhancing the dielectric properties of the ***^(3+)also enhanced the ferromagnetic resonance loss and strengthened magnetic *** effects considerably improved the EMW-absorption perform-ance of Ba_(1-x)LaxNi_(2)Fe_(15.4)O_(27)compared with pure W-type *** x=0.2,the best EMW-absorption performance was achieved with a minimum reflection loss of-55.6 dB and effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 3.44 GHz.

Federated analysis can help perform large-scale analyses using neuroimaging datasets across various research groups overcoming the limitations of institutional data-sharing policies, privacy or regulatory concerns as it requires no data sharing. This study proposes a hybrid method to multi dialect speech recognition using the transfer learning with transformer-based architecture. The primary objective of this method is to enhance the automatic speech recognition (ASR) across the different dialectal variations of specific language. The transfer learning methods are utilized to modify the base model that was trained on high resource language to manage the multiple dialects with limited labelled data for each dialect. This is achieved by using pre trained transformer methods such as Wav2Vec2.0 and Whisper. An approach which employs dialect specific embeddings is presented. It enables the method to capture data and differentiate between prosodic elements and phonetic that are distinctive to a variety of dialects. data augmentation technique are utilized in order to overcome the limited availability of labelled data for low resource dialects. These methods are utilized to increase the efficiency of training set and enhance the robustness of the method. Evaluation of the method is carried out using multi dialect speech datasets which include Arabic MGB-3 and common voice. These datasets represent a variety of dialects that are spoken in various linguistic regions. The result of this study indicates that the transformer-based method is effective in managing difficulties of dialectal variances while the reliability is reduced on different datasets. Different real-world applications are provided by the proposed method for improving voice enabled applications. Furthermore, this method leads the way for the development of ASR method that are more accurate and independent in locations that have a significant linguistic variation. © 2025 IEEE.

Low voltage motors are essential in many applications in contemporary industrial settings, as they power machines and guarantee efficient operations. However, these motors often operate in harsh environments where they are exposed to factors such as extreme temperatures, moisture, dust, and vibrations, which can lead to premature wear and failure. This paper proposes a hybrid method for low voltage motor condition monitoring in challenging industrial environments. The proposed method is the combined execution of Ladybug Beetle Optimization algorithm (LBOA) and Heterogeneous Context-Aware Graph Convolutional Network (HCAGCN). Hence it is named as LBOA-HCAGCN technique. Initially, the input data is collected from Triboelectric vibration sensors. Then, the collected data is fed into preprocessing utilizing Generalized Multi-kernel Maximum Correntropy Kalman Filter (GMKMCKF). This filter normalizes and cleans the data by effectively removing noise. Recursive Hilbert Transform (RHT) is used to extract time domain features such as mean, Root Mean Square (RMS), Peak-to-Peak Value, Skewness, and Kurtosis. Then the extracted features are given to HCAGCN for classify the motor health conditions such as normal, broken-bar, bowed-bar, bowed-rotor, faulty bearing, and voltage imbalance. In general, HCAGCN does not express adapting optimization strategies to determine optimal parameters to classify motor conditions. Hence, the LBOA is used to optimize the weight parameter of the HCAGCN which accurately classify motor conditions. The proposed LBOA-HCAGCN is implemented in MATLAB. Performance indicators such as Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Precision, and Accuracy were used to analyze the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Comparing the proposed LBOA-HCAGCN methodology to other existing techniques like Deep Residual Neural Network (DRNN), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and Recursive Neural Network (RNN), it achieves 25.8%, 26.4%, and 24.7% greater accuracy, 26.7%, 29.4%, and

Distributed computing has attracted significant recent attention for speeding up large-scale computations by disseminating computational jobs from a central master node across several worker nodes/servers. However, worker nodes are often untrusted and can also collude to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data. Hence, sharing sensitive data with them raises data privacy concerns. Coded computing has emerged as a promising framework for speeding up distributed computing and can be also adapted to address security and privacy concerns utilizing tools from secret sharing and multi-party computing. However, ensuring perfect information-theoretic privacy imposes a strict threshold on the maximum number of colluding workers the protocol can tolerate and, also, necessitates quantizing/mapping data to finite fields. Differential privacy is a widely accepted practical measure to capture the privacy leakage of the shared data. The mainstream approach is then to add perturbations to the data via randomized mechanisms. In this paper, we revisit coded computing, and especially when it is adapted to handle real-valued data, and analyze the privacy guarantees through the lens of differential privacy in terms of the (?,d)-differential privacy metric, for the first time in the literature. All the computations are done over the field of real/complex numbers and data privacy, in terms of differential privacy, is attained by adding noise terms in a certain structured way. In particular, the noise is added through the secret sharing mechanism (which can be, in principle, decoded and cancelled out at the master) as means of ensuring differential privacy. Furthermore, we propose a differentially private distributed matrix multiplication protocol for matrix multiplications that keeps the privacy of data in the worst adversarial case. © 2023 IEEE.
