Aerial scene recognition(ASR)has attracted great attention due to its increasingly essential *** of the ASR methods adopt the multi‐scale architecture because both global and local features play great roles in ***,the existing multi‐scale methods neglect the effective interactions among different scales and various spatial locations when fusing global and local features,leading to a limited ability to deal with challenges of large‐scale variation and complex background in aerial scene *** addition,existing methods may suffer from poor generalisations due to millions of to‐belearnt parameters and inconsistent predictions between global and local *** tackle these problems,this study proposes a scale‐wise interaction fusion and knowledge distillation(SIF‐KD)network for learning robust and discriminative features with scaleinvariance and background‐independent *** main highlights of this study include two *** the one hand,a global‐local features collaborative learning scheme is devised for extracting scale‐invariance features so as to tackle the large‐scale variation problem in aerial scene ***,a plug‐and‐play multi‐scale context attention fusion module is proposed for collaboratively fusing the context information between global and local *** the other hand,a scale‐wise knowledge distillation scheme is proposed to produce more consistent predictions by distilling the predictive distribution between different scales during *** experimental results show the proposed SIF‐KD network achieves the best overall accuracy with 99.68%,98.74%and 95.47%on the UCM,AID and NWPU‐RESISC45 datasets,respectively,compared with state of the arts.

On the one hand, to model experts' preferences in group decision-making, intuitionistic reciprocal preference relations have widely been used because they allow for accommodating hesitation degrees, which are inherent to all decision-making processes. On the other hand, an optimization of information granularity distribution has recently been applied to establish consensus during group decision-making processes. Concretely, a symmetric and uniform distribution of information granularity has been considered for intuitionistic reciprocal preference relations. However, there exist other protocols of information granularity distribution that could be used. Therefore, we aim to analyze all the information granularity distribution protocols and determine their effectiveness in building consensus through intuitionistic reciprocal preference relations. The performance of the different protocols is discussed by conducting some numerical experiments that help provide insights into the effectiveness of the protocols to build consensus. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes an approach to embed ontologies in order to deal with reasoning based on transitive relations, using the datasets provided for the SemRec Challenge at ISWC 2022. Knowledge Graph Embedding (KGE) methods provide a low-dimensional representation of the entities and relationships extracted from the knowledge graph and have been successfully used for a variety of applications such as question answering, reasoning, inference, and link prediction. However, most KGE methods cannot handle the underlying constraints and characteristics of ontologies, preventing them from performing important reasoning tasks such as subsumption and instance checking. We propose to extend translation-based embedding methods to include subsumption and instance checking reasoning by leveraging transitive relations. Experimental results show that our approach can achieve Hits@10 as high as %73 using samples generated by a policy network. © 2022 CEUR-WS. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we address the critical aspect of hardware ageing effects in reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), whereby the problem of extending the RIS's life cycle under the impact of non-residual stochastic hardware impairment is considered. Through the replication of the RIS hardware and diverse wireless environments within a statistical simulation environment, we formulate an electronic maintenance framework (EMF) for RIS, where we incorporate non-residual impairments through stochastic modeling and determine the electronic reliability of the system. Accordingly, we derive optimal analytical solutions within the EMF to determine whether systematic maintenance of the RIS hardware should be done immediately or postponed in order to extend the expected life cycle of the RIS system. Furthermore, for the scenario with imperfect maintenance of the RIS-aided system, a reliable communication framework (RCF) is also introduced with residual impairments to assess the error probability of the RIS-aided communication. The RCF is established by deriving the distribution of the received signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio in the presence of residual hardware impairment arising due to imperfect maintenance of the RIS system. Extensive numerical examples are provided to elucidate the derived solutions and illustrate the reliability performance of the proposed framework under hardware impairments. © 2020 IEEE.

In existing remote sensing image retrieval(RSIR)datasets,the number of images among different classes varies dramatically,which leads to a severe class imbalance *** studies propose to train the model with the ranking‐based metric(e.g.,average precision[AP]),because AP is robust to class ***,current AP‐based methods overlook an important issue:only optimising samples ranking before each positive sample,which is limited by the definition of AP and is prone to local *** achieve global optimisation of AP,a novel method,namely Optimising Samples after positive ones&AP loss(OSAP‐Loss)is proposed in this ***,a novel superior ranking function is designed to make the AP loss differentiable while providing a tighter upper ***,a novel loss called Optimising Samples after Positive ones(OSP)loss is proposed to involve all positive and negative samples ranking after each positive one and to provide a more flexible optimisation strategy for each ***,a graphics processing unit memory‐free mechanism is developed to thoroughly address the non‐decomposability of AP *** experimental results on RSIR as well as conventional image retrieval datasets show the superiority and competitive performance of OSAP‐Loss compared to the state‐of‐the‐art.

Just like the game for Information Technology (IT) security was turned topsy-turvy by the arrival of mobile devices a few decades ago, the Internet of Things (IoT) today is changing it again a big time. data breaches, loss of productivity and profitability were quite a commonplace when mobile security became an issue. Today as IoT tries to connect everything to the internet, it intensifies the problem (more privacy violations, phishing/skimming attacks, security incidents) by creating a vast attack surface for the rogue players implying that important national (ports, airports, bridges, power-pants etc.) and cyber infrastructure could now be attacked. Moreover, if the network of your company has a weak point, it can easily be compromised to set off an attack. These Cyber terrorism attacks instigate identical responses from individuals as those for conventional terrorism attacks e.g. they heighten anxiety and stress, worsen feelings of vulnerability and harden the political attitudes of people. But this dimension is often overlooked by the policy makers. However, the increase in cyber terrorism cases has increased the research interest in the domain. Researchers are focusing on improving the security of internet and IoT devices. The field is still in its infancy. A lot needs to be done to mitigate these attacks. Motivated to demystify the repercussions of the cyber terrorism, this paper analyzes the distinctive characteristics of the most significant cyberattacks, investigates the expenditures incurred by the industries as a result of these cyber events, and then examines the impact of these attacks on the psychological health of the populace and the trust in public institutions. © 2023 IEEE.

The main focus of this research is on improving the performance of dynamic systems with actuator non-linearities and time-varying disturbances. To this end, using the concept of finite-time stability, a novel observer is presented to estimate the disturbances in systems with input non-linearities. Then, introducing an innovative sliding manifold, a robust observer-based technique is derived to guarantee the finite-time stability of the sliding surface. Hence, the closed-loop system would be stable in the presence of hard non-linearities and time-varying disturbances. The performance of the proposed approach was assessed in using a simulation study of two numerical examples. The obtained results and comparison with a conventional method confirmed the benefits of the suggested approach. © 2022 The Authors.
